Chapter 6
Chapter 6
*ZzzT*
Marcus Landed face first with a thud on what felt like hard rocky ground. He laid there, without moving an inch.
'Am I dead?'
Was the thought running inside his mind.
With a groan, he turned and lied on his back.
'Is this the so-called heaven?'
'But it's too dark here'
And he was lying there, just like that, His face towards the sky.
Sky? No, Why was it black. Hold up. that's not the sky. He sat up straight and looked around. His body began shivering as he discerned where he was.
From the looks of it, he was in a Dungeon!!. He figured it out even with the pitch-black darkness around him, But strangely a blinding light shined at the very end of the cave, just the way he faced.
He remembered learning about Dungeons in his Academy. Professor Jules had described different ranks of Dungeons and the technique to identify them.
Krozon only had low-level Dungeons, so it was not supposed to be a massive problem for him...Or so he thought.
Marcus stood up and slid slowly towards the Dungeon wall and began ambling towards the light which sparkled at the far end.
"It must be a D ranked dungeon, I guess"
D ranked Dungeons had White-colored Crystals stuck on the walls. These Crystals were later mined and then purified to a better form known as Rune Stones. These specific 'Rune Stones' can be then used to enhance a weapon with extra abilities or even make a custom one.
The Color of the Crystals determined its level and white was of the lowest level.
The dungeons are also determined by these crystals.
He was pushing through the pitch-black dungeon when Marcus's frantic hands accidentally grasped one.
The moment he felt the cool crystal grasped inside his palms Marcus readied his specs in apprehension to verify the color of the crystal he was coating with his palm.
He let go of the crystal and stepped back. The light from the path shined meekly at the crystal.
*Stun*
The light hit the crystal and it glowed along with Marcus's eyes which magnified with fear.
"Bla...Black!?"
A black crystal was the highest level of ore and it determined a Dungeon of Rank SC!!.
*Silence*
With a stumble, Marcus sat down, his knees upright and his elbows on them. His head drooped down and his teary eyes stared down at the rocky Floor.
"That's how it is, Huh?!"
Marcus thought for a whole minute and then suddenly his attitude altered and he jerked up sneering,
"It's not a wonder anymore. That's how broadly hapless I am. First at the academy, and here, at this dungeon."
"If I am gonna die, Then I'll better go down in style"
His words reflected in his eyes as he stood up and brushed his back.
Slowly pacing like a hero, he walked towards the light with his hands in his pockets. His jeans were torn around his right ankle area.
Even though he looked fierce on the surface, it was the direct contrary inside.
His heart pumped faster like an engine and the pace seemed to increase as he got closer to the light even when he told himself to calm down.
Now, Marcus was only a meter away from the light, his heart about to explode with fear and anticipation.
It skipped a beat when his steps traversed to the light. The gloom faded behind him, his feet searched for the land on the light side.
They found the floor and it felt different. It wasn't rocky or hard...It was soft and patchy.
His apertures blinked several times just to adapt to the sudden flicker of bright light. His head rotated with awe when his pupils finally adjusted to the huge income of light.
Everything was glinting and the floor had changed from being rockhard to green and plain. A Dozen of fresh flowers blossomed and the flavor in the atmosphere altered.
"Heaven?"
The word slipped out of his gaping mouth when Marcus witnessed the stunning visuals unfold themselves before him.
"No"
A deep, shaky voice echoed somewhere from the room. It could have been because he was awestruck but Marcus hadn't noticed the rock turn itself into a Throne in front of him, in which an old man donned in a long white robe and a matching white beard sat, posing magnificently before him.
Marcus's jaw dropped at the spectacle and he stumbled back.
The Old man stood up and strolling gracefully, addressed Marcus.
"Hello Marcus, Nice to meet you"
The old man smiled and patted his shoulder.
"You God?"
Marcus snapped at the man before him. All his rage transforming into words.
"Eh?"
"What the hell were you doing with your job?"
"Ehhhhh?"
"Why the hell did I not get a Seed?"
"Ah, I guess you have misunderstood....."
'THWACK'
A rock hit the old man straight to his face and the time seemed to stop for a minute.
The Old man came back to his senses to only get another rock stuck on his face.
"Wait a ...minute, Son."
"Son?! Who is your son? You old geezer?!!"
Marcus didn't heed to the old man's words. He yanked some more rocks from the floor and launched his legs, running towards the old man who had stepped back in fear.
Marcus didn't feel fear, even if the person before him might've been God. He simply felt the rage inside him burst out, for all the reason why his short life was unfair.
He acted up because he thought he was dead.
The old man ran pulling his robe up in his hands.
"Let me Explain Marcus.."
"Say no more, Dieeeee!!!"
This went on for a long time and finally, after a whole session of running and throwing stones, they stopped to catch some air.
"Listen to me Marcus *Wheeze* I am not God"
"Then....*wheeze*... why'd you......run from me?"
"Do I need to say??...and it was fun too, haven't worked out like this in a millennium"
The Old man rolled his eyes at Marcus as he dropped his voice at the end of his words.
"What?"
"Nothing"
was the reply.
"Then what am I doing here? Didn't I Die?"
"No, No Marcus. This is neither heaven nor hell and neither did you die.
"Eh?"
The Old man giggled at the look on Marcus's face and replied.
"You...You were born unique Marcus. You are fated to save this Earth and Guard it against them"
"Me?... Unique?... and Guard the Earth against whom?"
"I'll explain it all and listen to me Marcus because you...are chose to be 'The Next Guardian' "
"Ehhhhh?"
..........
.........
..........
..........
"But isn't that lame?"
[OLD MAN STARES MOTHERFUCKERLY]
