Chapter 262 - GRACE'S FATHER
There was a study in the house that was left by the Beischel couple. That room was full of books, causing the room to look like a library and not just an ordinary study.
His deceased parents were genius scientists, and they could get the title of genius because they loved to read a lot of books in their life. That was why the room was full of books.
The room was indeed full of books, but Kevin had never touched any of the books on the shelf since seventeen years ago when his parents faked their deaths. Now that they really died, he still didn't want to touch any books on the shelf.
The books were dust-free, though. Kevin hired some maids, and they would clean the room and also the books regularly. That was why the room was still clean today.
Kevin invited Grace to the room so they could talk privately without Steve. Both Grace and Steve were suspicious, but the confirmed criminal was only Steve until now. He still didn't have any proof related to the head of the Intelligence Agency, so he chose to give the lady a chance to prove that she was indeed innocent.
"Is it okay to just leave that man in the living room? The ice won't suddenly melt away, will it?"
Kevin didn't immediately answer the lady's question as he sat on a couch in the room. Aside from a study table, there was also two big couch in the room. Kevin sat on one of the couches, and Grace decided to sit on the empty couch.
"My ice will freeze him in three hours," the raven-haired man finally replied. "Now you can tell me how you found out that Kris is missing."
It seemed Kevin didn't want to waste his time and just went straight to the point.
"I've been following you in the past few weeks, and you were always with Kris in the past. But lately, I didn't see Kris around you at all. I guess something must be happening with him. I also saw you often had a meeting with your ally, and I assume something bad is indeed happening."
Kevin didn't look surprised upon hearing Grace's explanation. He wasn't stupid, and he could feel that someone was following him in the past few weeks. Grace was telling the truth, and Kevin was quite satisfied by the answer.
Now there was only one thing he needed to know from the fierce lady.
"Why are you following me? Do you have any plan for me?"
The atmosphere in the room was tense as the two people displayed grim expressions on their faces. It was indeed an interrogation when Grace had to answer all the questions from Kevin, but she didn't look to be pressured at all.
"Do you think I really hate your mother, Kevin?" Instead of answering the question, Grace suddenly asked another question that made Kevin frown.
"We have talked about it before, right? I think we don't have to talk about it again," Kevin quickly stated his disagreement without the slightest doubt.
"The last time I met your mother was right after the 2021 war ended, and we talked about many serious things back then. I have told you half of it, but you don't know the rest story, do you?"
Grace looked like she didn't care about Kevin's disagreement as she continued her story. Kevin was offended by the lady's arrogant attitude, but he decided to listen to the story from the lady.
[Grace walked away without looking back at the professor again, but the female professor suddenly grabbed her arm, forcing her to halt her step.
"Don't you want to know about your father, Grace?"
The young girl's heart pounded loudly upon hearing the professor's question. She was offended by the professor before, and she intended to leave the professor because the professor wanted to kick her away like a pile of useless rubbish.
However, Selena's question just now was enough to make her turn her body toward the professor again.
Since she was little, Grace had known about her biological mother because Selena had told her anything about her mother. Selena didn't hide anything about her mother, but she had never told her anything about her father.
Grace always asked the professor who his father was, but Selena was faithful to lock her lips. Now that the older woman finally brought up the topic about her father, she couldn't deny that she wanted to know the story.
"Let's sit down first before I can tell you everything about your father."
Grace was doubtful, but she still complied with the professor's order to sit on their previous chairs again.
"Last year I've told you that your mother had committed suicide, right? You're always curious about the reason, so I will reveal everything to you today."
Selena had never hidden anything about her biological mother, but she revealed everything about her mother little by little. The female professor would tell her everything about her mother on her birthday, just like what happened last year when the professor told her that her mother committed suicide right after she gave birth to her.
Grace was surprised, and she forced Selena to tell her the reason behind her mother's action. Unfortunately, Selena didn't want to answer her question. Instead, the female professor asked her to wait until her birthday this year.
Today was not her birthday, but Selena suddenly wanted to give her an answer. She couldn't help but feel strange.
"Your mother was an innocent person. She was no longer young back then, but she had never dated anyone. Aside from that, she also didn't know how to drink alcohol. But one day on my birthday, I, Joseph, and our other three friends forced her to have a party at a bar. She originally refused the idea, but because I begged her to join the party for my sake, she finally relented and agreed to go with us to the bar to celebrate my birthday.. And that was when the tragedy came to her."]
