The Blue Eyes

Chapter 257 - SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT

His father just called him. He finally told his father about Kris' situation, and his father immediately offered to help him. Of course, Kevin welcomes any help as long as he can find Kris soon.

He intended to hide Kris's circumstances from the others, but he knew that it would be hard for him to hide the real situation. Kris was missing, and if the others asked him why they didn't see Kris lately, he would need to lie to answer the question. That was why he decided to tell the truth instead of keeping lying.

He was currently at his biological parents' house with Blue, Jack, Casper, and Luke. He purposely invited the four of them to talk about some things at home after they all knew the real situation.

"Julia didn't know about the soldiers who went missing. She said that it's indeed suspicious if the Military is hiding that kind of thing. She said that she would help us to continue the investigation because she suspects the Military," Kevin opened the conversation.

The meeting with Julia was a few days ago, but only today did he tell his ally about the discussion with the pregnant lady.

"What?" Jack suddenly chimed in. "You decided to tell her about the missing soldiers? But why? I thought you wouldn't trust Julia anymore because she keeps siding with the medusa lady?"

"It's not that I wouldn't trust Julia anymore, Jack," Kevin replied in a calm tone. "It's Julia who was disappointed in me, but I know that she's not a bad person. She's loyal to Mrs. Hasler, but she's neutral. If the Intelligence Agency indeed has something to do with the crime, then she won't tolerate it."

Jack shook his head in disbelief upon hearing Kevin's statement. "You are too naive, Kevin."

Kevin had expected that Jack would react that way, so he just ignored the blonde's comment. Perhaps he was indeed too naive, but he had made a resolute decision in his heart. He would still trust the ones he wanted to trust, and he wouldn't change his judgment.

"Julia believes that it's the person from the Military that's responsible for the crime. That mysterious person deliberately hid the fact that several soldiers went missing, so that's indeed suspicious."

"That's indeed suspicious, but our main suspect is Jaden Dunn now. You still remember that Jaden Dunn is from the Intelligence Agency, right? Why did you suddenly suspect the Military instead?" Luke suddenly butted in.

Kevin shifted his gaze to the grey-haired man as he replied, "Jaden Dunn is indeed working in the Intelligence Agency now, but he was working in the army until last year. He had a high position in the army, so perhaps he still has a power left in the army even if he's no longer working there."

Luke no longer argued. He knew that Jaden Dunn was from the Military before transferring to the Intelligence Agency, but he didn't expect that the man would still have that kind of connection with the Military until now.

That was why Luke didn't tell Kevin about Jaden Dunn's background before. He didn't think it would be a significant matter. But now that Kevin brought up the topic, Luke realized the possibility.

"Something is not right," Blue chimed in after being silent for a while. "It seems someone deliberately wants us to blame someone from the Intelligence Agency, right?"

"What do you mean, Blue?" Jack immediately questioned the blue-eyed girl.

"Jaden Dunn is currently working in the Intelligence Agency, and he's the one who has contact with both Teacher Felix and Brother Steve. And he also said that he still has a boss when he gave the order to Brother Steve, right? He's the one who's working in the frontline, so if his cover is unveiled, then our attention will be directed to the Intelligence Agency right away."

The three people fell silent upon hearing Blue's analysis.

"I think Blue has a point," Kevin agreed with the young girl. "We have our attention to the Intelligence Agency after we found Jaden Dunn's name during our investigation. I think someone deliberately wants to wrong the Intelligence Agency."

Kevin didn't think about the possibility before, and he only noticed the oddity after Blue brought up the topic. And his mind suddenly flew away to a moment when someone suddenly slandered a person from the Intelligence Agency.

"I think that's indeed the plan," Casper, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly chimed in. "Just like what Kevin said earlier, Mr. Dunn was working for the army until last year, but he suddenly wrote a formal letter to request for a transfer to the Intelligence Agency. A request like that is normal, but it might have a relation with the case."

Casper had been quiet, but what he said was just like something that strengthened their assumption. Jaden Dunn was indeed suspicious and dangerous, and perhaps he indeed had planned everything meticulously.

"And about the missing soldiers in the army, that's probably his doing too. He probably has an ally hiding in the army," Casper added again. "Someone powerful in the army might have something to do with that case."

Things got more complicated, and Kevin brought his right hand to massage his aching temple.

"So, we don't need to investigate the people from the Intelligence Agency anymore?" Luke's voice was heard again.

Their suspicion suddenly shifted to the Military, and it seemed that they didn't have a reason to investigate the Intelligence Agency anymore.

However, Kevin's heart was still so heavy when the other man mentioned the Intelligence Agency. It immediately reminded him of Grace Hasler.

"No," the young scientist replied. "We still need to investigate the Intelligence Agency, including Grace Hasler."

Kevin had made another unhesitating decision. Grace Hasler hated him, so he had to find out what the lady was planning for him all along.

"We still need to continue our investigation, but finding Kris is still our top priority," Kevin continued while clenching his hand into a fist.

Yes.. His top priority was still Kris.
