The Blue Eyes

Chapter 232 - WILL BRAINWASH YOU

Kevin was a realistic person. He had worked as a scientist for so many years, and he wouldn't easily believe in what he heard without seeing the real situation with his own eyes.

When he was working in the laboratory, he was willing to work overtime just to prove some theory or some rumors related to what he was working on. He would try to experiment with things without caring about his tired body just to find proof of some theory or rumors.

Some people indeed believed in their instinct, but for Kevin, he would still use his brain first before believing in his instinct. It wasn't like Kevin would completely ignore his intuition, but he would connect his hunch with the logic in his head.

He would only draw a conclusion based on what he saw and what he heard with his own eyes and ears. Grace could say that she happened to be near the orphanage when there was an attack earlier, but he didn't want to buy the excuse so easily.

Instead of immediately trusting the woman, he chose to be even more suspicious of her.

Julia, who was standing quite behind, suddenly stepped forward and glared at the young scientist. "What did you just say, Kevin? How can you accuse Mrs. Hasler of such a thing? Mrs. Hasler couldn't do something so low like that!"

Julia Concord was Grace Hasler's loyal supporter. Even when Kevin and the rest said bad things about the head of the Intelligence Agency, Julia would always step forward to defend the fierce lady.

The pregnant woman always said she knew Julia more than they knew the short-haired woman, but she never explained what kind of knowledge she had about Grace Hasler.

Julia was also hiding something, and that was why Kevin didn't want to fully believe in his friend's reasoning tonight.

"I just questioned Mrs. Hasler earlier, Jule. I didn't accuse her of anything," Kevin still dared to argue even if it was crystal clear that he indeed accused the head of the Intelligence Agency earlier.

Ever since he learned the truth about Grace from his foster parents, Kevin could no longer see the fierce lady as the same as before. He used to be neutral even if the lady kept slandering him, but after knowing the truth, he couldn't be the same anymore.

Grace smirked a little as she returned Kevin's fierce gaze. "Don't you want to invite me inside first? You didn't even invite me to the party, and now you don't even want to invite me inside?" She said as she glimpsed at the party site in the yard.

Kevin didn't even have the slightest idea of inviting her to the party, so the woman's question was one of the most ridiculous things he'd ever heard.

"I'm sorry for being rude, Mrs. Hasler," Kevin replied nonchalantly before turning to his fiance. "Please open the gate for Mrs. Hasler, Kris. We can talk inside the building so we will feel more comfortable."

Kris didn't have any personal grudge toward Grace. The fierce lady indeed had offended him a lot of times, but he didn't think that it was enough to manifest a great hatred in his heart toward the short-haired lady.

However, his fiance had a personal grudge toward Grace related to what happened with his mother in the past, and Kris couldn't help but feel his hatred increased by a lot after learning the truth from Kevin's foster parents.

Even so, his fiance asked him to open the gate for Grace, and he could only comply with his fiance's wish. But, before he could unlock the gate's lock, he could hear another voice interrupting his movement.

"You don't have to talk with this snake, Kevin!"

It was Benjamin Lowell who suddenly butted in, and all people turned their heads toward Kevin's adoptive father. Everyone except Kevin and Kris looked stunned upon hearing the man's way to address Grace Hasler.

"We still have to hear her out, Dad. That's why we should talk inside the building because this place is not safe," Kevin replied to his father's words sternly.

Even though he hated Grace Hasler, he had to admit that he didn't have enough evidence to blame the woman. As a scientist, one piece of evidence was not enough, and he would try to experiment more before he could conclude anything.

Benjamin gave Kevin a look of disbelief. "You still remember the story about her, right, Kevin? I have told you that she is not a good person, so why did you still want to give her a chance to make an excuse? Her appearance was too sudden, and I'm sure that it's not a mere coincidence."

Benjamin was just like Kevin sometimes. He was so stubborn, and he wouldn't easily listen to other people's explanations. Kevin recalled the memory when he was also this stubborn when his biological mother wanted to explain everything to him. His hatred was bigger, and he didn't want to hear anything at all.

On the other hand, the other people in the place seemed not to understand the situation. They all knew Grace Hasler, but they didn't know the relationship between the lady and Kevin's foster parents.

"If you let her in, she will brainwash you with her sweet words, Kevin. We'd better kick her out when we have the chance," Charlotte suddenly chimed in as she grabbed her son's hand.

Charlotte was the one who explained to him Grace's true color. Charlotte told him that Grace had left his biological mother when his mother was experiencing the biggest turbulence in her life, and that hurt his heart.

Now his adoptive mother assured him not to give a chance to the fierce lady, and Kevin could understand his mother's worry.

"Okay, I understand," Kevin's voice was heard once again as he made a final decision. "If you guys won't let Mrs. Hasler in, then I will go outside to talk to her."

Once again, Kevin surprised everyone in the place with his unexpected decision.
