The Black Necromancer

Chapter 540: Michael's Warning

The meeting went on for a bit longer before the Nexus Being eventually left after saying all he==it needed to. It did leave a warning for them before leaving though.

"Make sure to keep your guard up. The Paragon of Undeath is not the only threat. Many eyes have already turned to Datar, hoping for easy pickings when you are at your weakest. Do not give them a chance to strike, lest you bear the burden by yourself.

I shall not intervene if that happens, for that is the order of the world." It warned sharply before vanishing in a ray of light and leaving the Gods to themselves.

One by one, they all retreated to their various places of residence. However, when Leon arrived at his God Kingdom, he was surprised to find none other than Michael waiting for him.

"Michael."

"Leon. Can I speak with you for a short time?" The silver haired Fate God asked. His tone was quite formal.

"Sure." Leon nodded and welcomed Michael into a large room where they could relax and talk about private matters. He communicated Kaladin and the others not to disturb him for the moment but Nedra was exempted. The Millipede Queen was already waiting in the room when Leon and Michael arrived.

"Ah, Nedra. I see you are doing well. You performed splendidly in the war. I saw." Michael smiled and spoke cordially with Nedra when he took his seat.

"Thank you. I only did my part in defending my home." Nedra was also polite and sat beside Leon when he took his seat.

"Now, let's speak seriously. What is it that you wanted to talk about?" Leon asked after getting comfortable. He was feeling quite stuffed, as he had not even begun to process all the energy and life essence of the enemy Gods that he and his forces had defeated in the recent battle.

Michael did not speak immediately. Instead he leaned forward, supporting his elbows with his knees and looking dead ahead at Leon.

"You might not believe what I am about to tell you, but I mean every single word I say." Michael started off, setting an ominous modd.

"What are you talking about? Elaborate please." Leon was much more alert now.

"A few days ago, I saw a vision. Leon, I saw you die."

"YOU FOOLISH IMBECILE!" Izeal growled as he was forced back by Ijas. The two of them had been fighting for a long time and neither of them had been able to seize the upper hand. They could only trade blows and injuries with each other. With every passing minute, the fight got more intense and Izeal was starting to think of backing off.

He could not waste all his energy on Ijas or he would give Leon the time he needed to recuperate and grow stronger.

"I told you that you would regret crossing me, Izeal. You will lose the prize that you have thirsted for so much. I will make sure that you do not get what you want." Ijas growled, his voice booming from the mass of flames that rose around him.

However, just at that moment, the isolated plane that was formed from the merger of their Domains suddenly trembled. Ijas froze as he felt several other True Gods clamoring on the outside of the plane. He could clearly sense the evil intent towards him that they radiated.

"Oh, I see. You have friends." Ijas suddenly lowered his gaze and a laugh erupted from his lips. "You are as sly as ever, Izeal. Don't worry. I have lost this fight. I see it as my loss.

Just keep this in mind. I may have lost this battle, but the war is not over. Until next time, Paragon of Undeath."

Izeal had a manic grin on his face as he watched Ijas turn into a mass of flame and vanish. The plane that was formed from the merger of their Domains also began to collapse as the forces that kept them in place were no longer available to support it. With Ijas gone and Izeal no longer unfolding his Domain, the plane collapsed, revealing the deep dark Void once more.

"Izeal." A deep voice that carried power rang out and the person in question turned around with a wicked smile, facing the new arrivals.

"We received an urgent call from you. What is it?" The one that spoke asked.

"Oh, I needed your help, but you have already chased the one holding me up away. It is fine. We will have more to do in the coming days." Izeal gave a short explanation before closing his eyes and sensing his surroundings. "We are quite far from Datar." He mumbled.

"That world that is being dealt with by the Army of Destruction?" One of the three True Gods that came to assist Izeal asked.

"Indeed. My long sought after prize is there. However, I was interrupted before I could deal with him. By the time we return, they will be much better prepared, which is why I did not hesitate to call for you three." Izeal explained.

"Ah, I see. Your final piece is there, right? Don't forget what you promised us in return for helping you, Izeal." The first one spoke again.

"Do not worry. I have no reason to turn my back on you when I get what I want. I will have much more worthwhile things to do at that time." Izeal waved his hand to disperse their worries, but the three True Gods still did not trust him completely.

"Let us start heading for Datar immediately. We must complete this goal as soon as possible!" Izeal declared and turned around, turning into a shooting star across the vast darkness of the Void. The three True Gods that he had called exchanged looks between themselves before sighing and following after him.

Any reasonable being knew that trusting the Paragon of Undeath may very well lead to their own death, so these three True Gods were quite reserved. They were ready to turn tail and flee if they saw that they would not win against the enemy.
