Chapter 20
The Strongest Scalpel (3)
Bai Ye ignored the handmaid’s outburst. She grabbed the gold coin and returned it to Ji Fu, “Grandpa Ji, didn’t we say we’ll pay one silver coin for the scalpel? We don’t need the sword.”
“Little Ye?” The sword Ji Fu eyed was meant for Bai Ye as well. He did not expect to run into trouble while browsing for weapons in the marketplace.
He glanced at Bai Ye. A moment later, he decided it was better to follow her lead and retrieved a silver coin. The sword was returned to its original position on the table.
“This…Old man, didn’t you hear? I don’t want your silver. Please tell your granddaughter to return the scalpel. Our lady here has paid ten gold coins for it. You don’t want to offend her,” the weapons dealer whispered into Ji Fu’s ears. He was offering them sound advice.
Bai Ye ignored the man’s advice and said, “Grandpa Ji, leave the coin and let’s go.” She took the silver coin from Ji Fu’s hands and dropped it onto the table. The pair turned to leave.
Bai Ye did not spare Yun Mengmeng a glance.
With her patience wearing thin, Yun Mengmeng shouted, “Stay where you are!”
The guards that accompanied the girl marched forward and surrounded Bai Ye and Ji Fu.
“Tsk, tsk.”
“Do you peasants know who you’re talking to? You’re stepping on the wrong toes, Lady Yun here is The Little Witch of Tong City!”
“Lady Yun’s a prodigy! She’s a seventh-ranked practitioner at the age of 15. She’ll definitely be a Mystic Warrior by the time she enters The Erudition Trials in five years. She’s Qingyun’s prodigy.”
The commotion at the weapons stall attracted the attention of nearby vendors and passersby.
Living up to her nickname, the little witch, Yun Mengmeng, gave her orders. “Arrest these ill-mannered peasants!”
The weapons dealer tried to persuade Ji Fu. “Come on, just leave the scalpel behind and apologize to the lady. You don’t want to end up in Tong City’s jail cell.”
As the crowd gathered around them, a smirk appeared on Bai Ye’s lips.
Her training with the Scripture of Bai rewarded her with enhanced sensation and other skills which she was not able to practice due to their constant traveling. She was very keen to try out her new offensive abilities.
“Step aside.” Despite her eagerness to use her newfound skills, Bai Ye did not want to appear savage. If they heeded her request, she would not raise a hand against them.
Unhappy that her dramatic outburst was ignored, the handmaid shouted at the guards, “Why are you just standing there? The lady said to arrest them!”
The four burly men moved. Among them, there were two ninth-ranked practitioners, one seventh-ranker and another eighth-ranker.
A group with this composition would be regarded as a strong team, especially when all four members moved at once.
Their opponents were a young girl who appeared malnourished and an unfortunate old man.
The onlookers gave the pair condoling looks. There was no doubt they would be captured by the guards. “They’re toast…”
Just as Ji Fu contemplated which two men he should take on, something unbelievable happened.
