Chapter 917 - 917 Falling Out
917 Falling Out
Lady Meng cursed under her breath. She couldn’t believe that she had allowed that brat to steal from their Research Institute! Now that all of this had happened, she needed to find a way to fix this.
Would it have been any more different if she had been more guarded?
Her jaw clenched.
How could this even happen?
The Meng Family had always delved into the field of medicine, but their main focus had been on psychology. They were developing pills to help people who had been suffering from mental illnesses, and they had made some developments in that area.
The only reason they had advanced in another direction was due to Meng Ling—the Meng Family heiress.
They had called all the best doctors in Beijing to help her.
As none of them had the confidence to cure her daughter’s wrist, the Meng Family decided to take it into their own hands and set up a research institute for her.
It was also during that time when other aristocratic families began to develop their own medical advancements within the field.
That included the Yang Family.
The Yang Family had been looking into physical therapy for so many years, but they made no progress. They had even joined forces with the best schools in Beijing to develop their most advanced medication.
However, even after all the money that they spent, they still ended up with nothing.
Fortunately, throughout their research, they were able to discover some findings relating to cardiovascular diseases and treatment, which were able to solidify their name in medical research organizations.
They had always regarded each other as their competitors.
Ever since they had developed their latest concoction, the Meng Family finally felt like they could kick the Yang Family out of the field. In fact, they were planning to hold a press conference this month regarding their discovery in physical therapy and regeneration.
None of them expected Yao Ran to change things.
Madame Meng thought of Yao Ran as nothing more than a young and obnoxious girl. Besides, the Yao Family had no business in the medical field, so she simply believed her.
It seemed as if she had underestimated her abilities.
Only after the argument in the restaurant did she figure out that Yao Ran had stolen all their data and left.
They used all their connections to find her, but…
But…
This was a mistake that Madam Meng had committed. While she was upset, she also needed to make up for it. It was time for her to minimize the losses for her family’s research.
She clenched her fists.
Yang Ming’s face had also darkened.
It seemed that he had more obstacles in front of him.
The Meng Family had always been inferior to the Yang Family, given their numerous connections.
If they had the nerve to go up against them, it would be a devastating blow to their reputation.
Madam Meng took a deep breath with a smile on her face. “President Yang, I’m sure you don’t know this, but let me do the favor of informing you. Miss Yao, while beautiful, is not the most trustworthy woman you’d meet,” she slowly said. “If such a prestigious man were to connect with someone like her…who knows what she’d do against your family? Or what she’d steal from you, rather?”
She shot Yao Ran a glare.
What she really wanted was to stall for more time. She had already asked her daughter to contact her husband to ask for his opinion.
Meng Ling already took out her phone.
Yang Ming naturally knew that Yao Ran’s character wasn’t good in the slightest. He had always looked down on her, but now, they were already in the same boat.
“Ranran is just as beautiful as she is sensible,” he finally said. “She can’t be the same woman you were talking about. Besides, this matter hasn’t been investigated yet, has it? So, maybe you should stop calling her a thief, and instead, concentrate on the facts.”
“Oh, please, don’t be played by that woman, President Yang.”
Madam Meng scoffed.
What she didn’t know was how true her words were.
He had really been tricked by this woman.
Now, he had no other choice but to work with her!
