Chapter 580 - 580 Momster
580 Momster
Zi Xingxi took a deep breath and chanted a few mantras before finally putting on a smile ready to deal with the world. This was her morning routine especially when Zi Han was younger. She needed mummy time before dealing with her precious baby who was indeed a handful.
Even as an adult her son was still a handful but a mother’s love wouldn’t expire just because they had grown up. She got up with her mug and was about to head to the kitchen when the doorbell rang.
She checked the camera on her light brain and was met with her son in law’s face. She went over to open the door while asking, “Aren’t you supposed to be out with your mother? I heard you are finalizing the details of your house today.”
Yi Chen was a little surprised to see that it was his mother in law that opened the door but he quickly recovered and said, “Good morning auntie. I just came over to drop off Han Han’s favourite cake and I also bought a custard tart for you from that bakery you and mum like,” he said looking like he was trying to bribe his way in.
When she saw the luxurious pink packaging, Zi Xingxi couldn’t resist. She accepted it looking like she was ready to sell her son off for a night. She led him to Zi Han’s bedroom and when the door opened she found the person who was supposed to be packing lying on the bed while playing a game on StarNet with her husband.
The two people were yelling, okay no, it was more like Zi Han was yelling at his dad telling him to juice more complement points on the fairy princess otherwise the character won’t be able to fight the trolls.
Yes, they were playing that game Ming Ming introduced him to. It’s not that his sister in law was forcing him to continue playing it but that it was quite addictive. He just couldn’t help but teach his father but who would have thought it would very difficult to teach an old dog new tricks?
“I am complimenting her now get off my back aaaahhhh this stupid game. My blood bar is so freaking low. Buff me up otherwise I will get killed,” said Yeoh Jun with an anxious look on his face like it was a life and death situation.
“Aren’t you two supposed to be packing up?” she asked with her arms crossed on her chest.
.....
The two of them didn’t even look up. It was Yeoh Jun who responded first. “He is the one meant to be packing not me,” he said and Zi Han raised his five fingers before saying,
“Five more minutes.”
“None of you are leaving this bedroom until it’s all packed up,” she said before turning to Yi Chen, “let’s go. Let’s leave them be.”
When Zi Han heard this he finally looked up and saw his sweetheart that he had manipulated to come here standing next to his mother with a branded paper bag in his hand.
“Chen-ge, you came and you brought me some cake. You are so sweet,” said Zi Han getting off the bed hastily to get to him but his mother blocked his path pressing her palm on his forehead.
“Uh uh uh, you don’t get to eat this delicious cake unless you finish cleaning up,” she said and Zi Han slumped his shoulders looking sullen.
He showed a pitiful expression that Yi Chen couldn’t resist but Zi Xingxi wouldn’t let him have his way.
“Both of you clean up and I mean both of you,” she said before the door closed and Yi Chen was forced to follow her.
With the two of them gone Zi Han couldn’t help but complain. “Now that Chen Chen can’t help me, Pa you are going to be my new help,” he said and Yeoh Jun howled having lost the game.
“She is dead... she is dead. Periwinkle is dead,” he cried out mourning the loss of his in game character.
Zi Han, “...”
He was today years old when he realised, his father was so unreliable. While Zi Han was trying to get his father to get off the bed and help him out, Yi Chen was sitting on the couch under Zi Xingxi’s instruction.
Was he uncomfortable? Yes, very much but now that they were going to be family it would be a good thing if they could get along. Zi Xingxi brought back two cups of coffee, the tart and the cake on a tray. Yes, she unpacked Zi Han’s cake and placed it on a dessert plate neatly.
Yi Chen saw the cake and opened his mouth to say something but Zi Xingxi raised her finger gesturing to him to keep quiet. She pulled up a floating screen and video called Zi Han. It didn’t take long before the video call was answered.
“Ma, what’s up? Have you changed your mind and want to help?” he said only for his mother to open a secondary screen with the live video of the cake.
“No no no. Now you are a big boy so you should do big boy chores. I just wanted to let you know that for every ten minutes, you aren’t downstairs I will...,” she said as she pressed the fork down cutting through the sweet cream down to the pink fluffy cake.
“You monster,” he said and Zi Xingxi chuckled before saying,
“No, that’s momster for you sweetie.” After saying that she ate it showing a delighted look on her face. “Mmm yummy,” she said taunting him and Zi Han almost lost his mind.
“No no no no. Ma, that’s mine. They only make it once a month because the strawberry supply is low. I will pack up, I promise. Just don’t eat-,” he said only for the video call to come to an abrupt end.
“Hello, hello... ma... ma... ma! Damn it,” he said before trying to open the door and leave but his father said,
“She locked it. Don’t even bother.”
Zi Han still tried to open the door but as expected it wouldn’t open. He groaned in annoyance on the verge of throwing a tantrum.
