The Ancient Genes

Chapter 37 - Unexpected (Part-2)

Max slowly moved forward and pushed the door open as the guy named Racoon stood beside the door guarding it.

Opening the door, he found a strange pattern glowing in green on the right corner of the room.

That room had two beds just beside the formation and a set of desks and chairs on the left hand side.

The desk had a stack of papers beside the flower vase and a guy was sitting on the chair and seemed to be working on his laptop.

Seeing him enter, the guy sized him up with the corner of his eyes and looking at his clothes stained with blood he stood up while gesturing to him to move towards the formation.

Max nodded at him before moving towards one of the beds.

It wouldn't do him any bad to get his wounds treated. Once it's done, he would take care of that guy.

Max turned his head towards the laptop.

'If this guy was working on his laptop then that means it should have some information. I might even be able to contact the outside world.'Max thought while planning

"What are you starting at? Lie on the bed. I will first treat your wound and then use the healing formation to speed up the recovery." He spoke with a cold voice.

For some reason, Max felt the voice to be familiar. But he didn't remember meeting such a cold person.

Max sat on the bed and prepared to lie down but before he could do so that guy's voice entered his ears.

"Are you an idiot, take that rifle off of you."

Max really didn't want to part with the rifle. But in order to avoid any suspicion, he threw the rifle on the other bed. After all he still had the dagger on him.

After lying down the treatment began, and the guy properly treated the wound on his arm and took the bullet out.

He bandaged his wound after sterilizing it and got up before speaking.

"An hour here will almost heal your wounds and if you wish to leave, it will take upto 2-3 days for your wound to heal with proper medication.

"I am tired. I will just stay here for a while." Max spoke casually.

Creak!

The door opened and Raccoon walked in.

"How is it Fox? Are you fine now?" He asked in a worried tone.

"Ahh.."

"It still hurts... a lot. I will stay... here for a while to.. recover." Max spoke as if in a lot of pain.

Suddenly, He felt a gaze on his back. He knew the other guy was staring at him.

'But what, if I said it hurts then it did.'

"It's fine. Leave all the other things to us. You should just focus on recovering."His mouth turned in a semicircle shape, almost touching the edges of his mask. And his flattering tone really made Max feel creeped up.

"I am counting on you."Max spoke while trying to give out a smile.

He thanked god that he had the dead guy's mask on or else God knows what expression he had on his face at that time.

...

Finally he left the room.

Once Max confirmed his footsteps disappeared from the surroundings. He slowly moved hands to feel the dagger under his sleeves. It was time to make a move.

He cleared his throat before speaking.

"Hey, I need a glass of water."

Hearing him the guy working on his laptop gave him a death stare as if he had done something intolerable.

"Please…." Max spoke again in a pleading tone.

He knew that that guy, unlike others, didn't try to flatter him. So it was better to act that way.

Hearing him the guy reluctantly got up from his chair and poured a glass of water before walking towards him.

As the distance between them lessened, Max started working out on the first move of Vital Arts.

"Here take it." As that guy stretched out his hands towards Max offering him the glass of water. He moved his hand towards the glass.

"Huh..."

He let out a slight gasp as Max grabbed his hand instead of the glass of water.

Vital Arts

One Palm Strike

Before he could even react, Max pulled him towards himself. And unexpectedly that guy reacted by performing a left jab but that time he was ready for everything.

He ducked down and rapidly closed in the short gap between them before slamming Palm into his chest.

Bang!

A loud sound resonated in the room as his palm connected with his chest.

Crash!

The guy flew over spewing out blood before falling on the chair and breaking through it.

Max's dagger slipped down his sleeves into his hands and he slowly walked towards him like a grim reaper.

Lying on the ground the guy stared at him with a deadly gaze as he struggled to get up.

If a gaze could kill a person, Max would probably be dead by now.

"I knew you guys were evil, I shouldn't have done it." He spoke before stopping any kind of struggle.

It looked like he had given up.

"Sorry... brother... I have disappointed..... you. Not only ...did I fail ...to avenge..you..I even lost my ..path." Even though it was very faint, Max could hear him mutter thanks to his godly ears.

Everyone has a story.

'But I don't know you. In this world I will care only about those who care about me and who are important to me.'

Finally, Max stood right beside him and without any hesitation, he stabbed towards his heart.

"Phuuu..."

His dagger stopped only an inch away from his heart as he noticed something which sent a wave shock throughout his body.

On his left was the laptop on the desk and what was displayed on it was a familiar anime character Mahou Shoujo Mio-chan.

It all started to connect somehow.

His familiar voice.

His behavior on being disturbed.

Max could see the guy looking at him with a questioning gaze. Even he couldn't seem to understand the sudden change in the events.

Max's voice trembled as he spoke.

"A..A..Axle....is..i..it.....y..you ?."
