Chapter 9 - Stepping Out To The Modern World
Lucas looked around the warehouse. All of the men were very apprehensive about him, but because their boss knew him, they had no choice but to give him way.
"Where's the exit?", Lucas asked one of the men.
"To the right wing. You have to go straight ahead, and take a right, and straight again. After that, you will be able to see the exit signs.", a man pointed to the direction Lucas had to go. His voice, however, was trembling. As one of the men who had attacked him just a few minutes ago, he was absolutely terrified at Lucas' display of strength.
Lucas nodded at the man and followed his directions. He got to the exit and left the warehouse, only to be greeted by the pitch black night.
.
"Oh right. It's still night. Sorry Fenrir, we will have to go tomorrow. I don't want to go anywhere now, in the night, especially when I don't have a car.", Lucas spoke softly.
In response, he heard a soft growling from inside of him.
"Fine, fine. Whatever, if I get hit by a car or something, then you are responsible for all the damages.", Lucas raised his hands. He reached for his pocket to take something but his eyes changed all of a sudden.
"Right... I don't have my phone.", He realized. He sighed as he went outside the warehouse, The guards did not stop him, because he was only going out, and not in. They were surprised by the new face, but they knew that if he came outside the warehouse alive and in such pristine state, then he was allowed to come and go as he pleased.
Lucas was on the road now. The warehouse was located conveniently near civilization, unlike Lucas' deathbed(almost) spot that he almost died at. Walking for just a few minutes, Lucas could see a lot of people and mall strips.
"Let's go inside there. There is bound to be good stuff there.", Fenrir said.
"I don't have any money on me right now.", Lucas said out. All of the people around him looked at him weirdly. Why wouldn't they? Especially when a suspicious guy talks to thin air about how much money he had.
Lucas walked for a but more, and he stopped in front of a small building. It was quite inconspicuous, but even Fenrir recognized it. "Oh! Darius' joint! Been so long since I saw that little kid. But why did you come here Lucas? Surely you can go to the mortal establishments. They do not have the extra, well, hassle."
"I don't have my cards or my phone. All of them are in my base. Peter must have them. He doesn't know the passcodes, but that won't stop him from destroying them just in spite. He is quite the impulsive fellow.", Lucas reminisced.
"What happened to you, Lucas? What made you so emotional, sentimental? The current you is so... undesirable. I am questioning my choice of choosing you."
"I never asked you to choose me.", Lucas snorted as he went inside the building. Inside, it was pretty spacious. It was the layout of a bank, but not the regular, modern one. This one looked more like a bank from a movie, like Harry Potter.(I know that it is a book, but for the sake of envisioning it, think to the Gringotts bank in the first movie).
Lucas strolled in with his hands back, and went up to the main counter. A man was behind signing some papers. Lucas pressed on the bell, and only then did the man raise his head.
"A werewolf? What brings you to the Bank of Darius? I though that you pack heads put everything in your dens or something.", he said, neither in a provocative tone, nor a sarcastic one, but as if he was stating a fact.
"Well, circumstances led me to deposit a few safeguards here. I wish to withdraw about ten thousand dollars.", Lucas said.
The man's eyebrow raised. "Identification?", he lifted his hand.
"We will have to do this traditionally.", Lucas sighed.
"Traditionally? What a pain."
