Chapter 86 - Working Together With Angela
"Why thank you.", Angela smiled as she walked past him. Lucas nodded towards the rest of the council, and he followed Angela out.
"Do you have a car, or should I borrow one of Michael's?", Lucas asked.
"No you don't.", Michael, who was right in front of them, said all of a sudden.
"Why are you eavesdropping into another person's conversation? Don't you know that it is bad manners?", Lucas said.
"Oh please. And what you did was in good faith, was it not.", Michael said sarcastically.
Lucas looked away.
"We can use my car. But I am driving.", Angela said.
"Go ahead. I am not that insecure, to say that I am a man so I should drive.", Lucas said.
(Not intending to hurt the people who do feel that only men should drive, but come on. Women are equal to men man.)
"Okay, that was good to know. So directly to the Hilton? No stops in the middle?", Angela asked.
"We can have a good tour of the city after we save the world from total destruction. For now, we are going there to sleep.", Lucas said.
"How many suites do you have? I am not sharing a room with you.", Angela said.
"Why not? There are two king sized beds in there.", Lucas said.
"Imagine. If I am seen in public with someone, and he looks like you, there will be so many problems.", Angela said.
"Who told you to become so famous? Anyways, the blast destroyed everything I have, and when I transformed, my wallet and my phone probably got screwed. I am broke and have nothing in my hands. I need to go to a bank.", Lucas said.
"The usual?", Angela asked.
"The same place. Although it will be quite interesting. A werewolf and a vampire waking in together.", Lucas chuckled.
"That is for sure.", Angela nodded. The both of them left the warehouse and stopped in the parking lot. There were a lot of cars, and they stopped in front of a very unassuming one.
"You are an A-list celebrity, a supermodel, and all you have got is a model Y? Are you kidding me?", Lucas asked Angela.
"Who said that we need to have those types of cars? I just want to be unassuming.", Angela said.
"We are literally going to the Lancaster suite of one of the biggest hotels. What unassuming? We are going to be judged by every move that we take. Let us go to the bank, and see if I can get some money out.", Lucas said as he opened the door to sit in the passenger's side.
Angela got in on the other side, and the both of them stayed silent as the car drove past the warehouse gates and into the city. They were going to the bank that Lucas had visited almost immediately after he had the chance.
The car screeched to a halt, and Lucas got off the car. He looked up at the bank.
"Darius really built a great empire over the years, didn't he? If only we had the dedication that he did.", Angela sighed.
"What good is eternal life if we don't enjoy it to the fullest? Working my ass off for a hundred hours a week is not the life I envisioned, and I will never do something like that. I have enough money to last me a thousand years more, and I am going to spend that slowly.", Lucas said.
"You know, it is such a pain, redoing all the paperwork, making it look like we are our own children. And with the digital thing, it is going to get harder to stay hidden.", Angela sighed.
"Enough chit chat. Let us go in. I wonder if my account has enough money though. I don't think that it has a lot of cash. All my cash was in the bunker.", Lucas wondered out loud.
"Then we should have gone to the bunker, Why are we here?", Angela asked.
"Because I don't want to go to the bunker unless absolutely necessary. It is for emergencies. Is that hard to understand?", Lucas asked.
"Let us just go in.", Angela snorted as she stepped into the bank. So did Lucas. They were greeted by a blinding light, and the sound of tellers, telephones, and the like.
"So old fashioned. I love it.", Lucas nodded as he stepped forward and went to one of the counters. This was the same counter that he had gone to a month before. This time though, there was a different man behind the counter.
"Bank of Darius. How may I help you?", the man asked.
"I wish to withdraw some money from my account. Verification by blood.", Lucas said.
"I understand. How much money do you intend on withdrawing sir?", the man asked.
"Hmm. How much do we need? Make it a million dollars in cash.", Lucas said.
The man raised his eyebrow.
"A million dollars?", he reconfirmed.
"Yeah, these days money is disappearing in an instant. Need a lot of it.", Lucas laughed. The man looked at him suspiciously as he retreated.
"He will probably be back with a manager. This is why I always used to go to the main branch. They know me so well.", Lucas sighed.
"You could have finished the verification, and then told them that you were going to withdraw the money. Why did you have to red flag yourself from the get go?", Angela asked.
"Lite. Nothing is going to happen. What can they possibly do?", Lucas said as he walked around.
He then turned back. "That was quick. He is coming back with someone already?", he muttered.
Sure enough, the bank teller arrived and beside him was another man.
"I was told that you were intending to withdraw a large amount of money?", the man asked.
"You are the bank manager? Ok. I need a mill. Verification by blood. I have it in my account, not to worry.", Lucas said.
