Chapter 74 - Seperated
"Wait what?!", Arthur, who was behind the whole group, exclaimed.
"Yup. The portal is right here, clearly. And there is this computer here, which is what gave me that whirring noise.", Lucas nodded.
"Something is really fishy here. It can't be this simple. We had to work so hard for literally everything else, but now it has been handed to us on a silver platter. I do not trust this one bit. It is definitely a scam.", Michael said.
"What can we do about it? We have no other way to get to the next floor. What do you suggest? Just blasting up? Clearly, that is not going to work. I mean, this is a spatial artifact and we have no idea what laws even work here. I should have known better than to jump into one without searching, but I made that mistake.", Praneeth sighed.
"Let's not dwell on the past, and keep walking. What are we going to do here, just drowning in sorrow? Why not just do something instead?", Lucas said.
"Look how far we have fallen. Getting words of wisdom from Lucas.", Eva said.
Lucas glared at Eva but he did not say anything in response. He just shrugged as he went into the room. He took a round around the room and stepped in front of the portal.
"Let us get going.", he said.
"Fine. Whatever. Let us move. What can we do.", Praneeth sighed as he also stepped into the room. The rest of the council followed suit, and all of them went in front of the portal.
Taking a deep breath, Lucas stepped inside the portal. He stepped out into a bright and well-lit area. He looked back at the portal, expecting Praneeth to come out.
He kept looking and kept looking. After five minutes, he had it.
"What the hell are they doing?", he cursed as he stepped back into the portal. But he was repelled all of a sudden.
"What is happening. They separated me and the council?", he wondered out loud in shock.
"Looks like this time they did not act like idiots. I was wondering why they didn't split us up yet, even though they had the perfect opportunity in the portals. Now, they finally did it.", Fenrir suddenly said.
"Why are you talking like you wanted to split up from the council?", Lucas asked him.
"Are you kidding? Praneeth treats us both like children, and he is so afraid that we will betray him, that he does not want to let us out of his sight. And please, don't tell me that you believe in the nonsense that he told you.", Fenrir scoffed.
"Nonsense? It made absolute sense to me.", Lucas shook his head.
"All those years and you still remain so naive. Gods are not the forgiving type. They are also extremely egoistic. Sometimes, they are worse bad guys than even the other spectrum, and you humans just don't see it. I mean, look at Odin. He locked up his own grandson because he thought that I would kill him. Imagine that. They only care about themselves. Do you think they care about humans? They can create another race if they want to, it is just that they are too lazy, so they gave you powers to stop anything from happening.", Fenrir said.
"Wow, that burst my bubble.", Lucas said.
"It better. I want to see this Marquess girl, and listen to what she has to offer. There might be something in it for you as well. Imagine, if Hades rules the Heavens, and you helped him out, then he will not be as uptight as Zeus, and he will send your entire pack down to earth for fun.", Fenrir said.
"Oh please. Just tell me the truth. You want to kill Odin and the other norse gods.", Lucas scoffed.
"That was always my goal. Ever since that asshole put me in chains, it was my goal. And it is inevitable as well. He will die. I will make sure of it.", Fenrir growled.
"Yeah, no one is saying no.", Lucas nodded as he started walking. This time, he was transported to a lobby of sorts, and it was like an office as well.
"It is as if the floors down there were just temporary, and this is really an actual office building.", Lucas wondered out loud as he walked through the hall.
He saw a reception desk and a receptionist behind the desk. Lucas was pleasantly shocked to find an actual human in this supernatural mess. He walked up to her and smiled at her.
"Do you have an appointment?", the receptionist asked.
"I think I do, actually, I have a meeting with the marquess. I think she is expecting me?", Lucas said.
"The marquess? And your name is?", she asked.
"Lucas.", Lucas replied.
"I am sorry, but this name is not here.", the receptionist shook her head.
"Try another name. Fenrir.", Lucas stopped her and asked her again.
Hearing the name Fenrir, the receptionist looked back at Lucas.
"You have an appointment now. The marquess asked to see you the moment that you arrived.", the receptionist nodded.
"Well then, why are we stalling. It is better to get going, is it not?", Lucas smiled.
"Yes it is. You are a valuable client to our company. We are lucky to have you.", the receptionist smiled back.
"Do you even know what your company does?", Lucas scoffed as he followed her.
"The marquess has a wonderful vision to make this world a better place.", the receptionist responded.
"Oh the ignorant. Truly, ignorance is bliss.", Lucas sighed.
Soon, the two of them stopped in front of a door. On the door, a plaque read, 'Chairwoman'.
"The Marquess is inside.", the receptionist gestured.
"Well then. It is about time I met her.", Lucas sighed as he took the handles and pushed on them.
