Lepis —Lee Sehyun
Female lead —Lee Dayoon
“Secretary Lee… did I just hear it wrong?”
Hyukjun looked down at his phone with a bitter look.
“If you’re talking about the phone call, that… woman boss is interested in said, ‘I’m having s*x with my boyfriend right now, knock it off, you b*stard. Don’t kill the vibe.’ So, what did you hear wrong?”
“….”
Hyukjun's expression darkened at those words before he let out a low sigh and touched his forehead.
That wasn't the answer he had wanted to hear. Although he hired Sehyun because he liked his ability, other than that, there was nothing that suited his taste like flattery. Because of that, he seriously considered dismissing him.
“Oh, you missed a word. I'm having s*x with my boyfriend right now… so knock it off.”
Bam!
When he hit the table, Sehyun looked at him in surprise with a face as if he didn’t know anything. In the meanwhile, Hyukjun felt like he was going to rage.
‘This brainy idiot.’
As Sehyun asked, reading his boss’s intense thoughts, his words were shaking.
“Is there… any problem?”
Hyukjun glared at him and turned his head again—that punk.
[ You have reached a number that is switched off… ]
Hearing the cold mechanical voice, he let out a deep breath. After listening to what she had to say, he stared at the black screen. It felt as if she had severed her relationship with him. Why? Even if she suddenly ran away, wasn’t it a little too much?
Hyukjun nervously tapped the desk before a sigh came out of his mouth.
“Ha…”
“She is such an extraordinary woman. To have dumped the boss.”
Sehyun murmured quietly as he placed the stack of papers on the bookshelf. For a moment, a chilly silence lingered in the room.
Surprisingly, Hyukjun finally realized that he had been stubbornly rejected. He had lived such a proud life that being rejected never crossed his mind. Up until this point, he thought that Dayoon was just running away from him.
Actually, thinking about it like that, it would be a horror from the female side.
…He never thought of being rejected.
At the great realization, he became incredibly embarrassed as his thoughts went on. Ignoring the two burning cheeks, he muttered quietly.
“Not yet… I’m not dumped.”
“Yes? It would be safe to say that you just got dumped. Needless expectations will just entail greater psychological pain later on. Get yourself together.”
“Please, that mouth… Haa.”
“What? I'm only telling the truth…? What do you not want to hear? I’ll review it. I’ll review and fix it as much as I can.”
“Just get out.”
Getting up from his seat, he tossed whatever he could get into his hands—a pen, a wad of paper, and a business card case—and miscellaneous objects flew around the room. Sehyun, who lightly dodged the objects Hyukjun threw, scratched his temper once more.
“What have I done wrong? This is obviously power harassment.”
“Get. Out!”
“Yes.”
After being kicked out of the president's office, Sehyun looked at the door and tilted his head.
“What is with him? Is he menopausing?”

Hyukjun stood in front of Dayoon's company, waiting for her to come out. Although he felt embarrassed by his stalker-like behavior, he couldn't help it. He had never been so curious about a person before.
So he wanted more of Dayoon.
It wasn’t because he loved her. He just wanted to have her more greedily because she wasn’t so easy to take. Though others might call it love, Hyukjun didn't believe it was. He felt an overwhelming desire to keep her by his side, using any means necessary, even if he made her into a mess..
He found his obsession unsettling, thinking that such a destructive feeling couldn't be love but rather just his greed.
Dayoon's beauty captivated him—the sparkle in her eyes, her fair skin, her enticing red lips, and her intoxicating fragrance. Even her smile, which could make her eyes curl, he yearned to see it, especially if it was directed at him with sincerity.
He was accustomed to being surrounded by a multitude of people, drawn to him for his wealth, status, and appearance. It was a position he couldn't escape from, but she made him feel something different and unique.
Although his mind could comprehend the situation, his heart struggled to accept it. He loathed those who only followed him because of his background, viewing them as parasitic creatures draining his essence.
To them, he was nothing without his status, and this feeling was far from pleasant.
Every action he took became a topic of discussion, and even the most insignificant deeds were given exaggerated significance in the mouths of others. The clothes he wore casually were sold out, and his spontaneous donations were spread like wildfire, turning into a trend.
The reasons behind his actions became irrelevant, only what he did.
They arbitrarily assumed reasons and disregarded his true intentions and thoughts. It felt like they were hijacking his life, distorting it in front of the media as they feasted and preying on him with false information.
Amidst this, he encountered a pair of indifferent eyes that passed by him fleetingly.
In that momentary encounter, he felt captivated by her.
There was a certain indifference and dullness in her gaze that held him entranced. It wasn't a facade of a smile that intrigued him but the genuine curiosity that emanated from her seemingly plain face.
In that moment, his heart began to blossom like colors spreading on transparent drawing paper. It was as if he found redemption in her presence.
“The person on that terrace… find out who it is.”
“Yes? I’m the president’s direct secretary. The agency employee, ah… yes. I'll find out.”
That was how he got to know her.
“Lee Dayoon? —Company? I never heard of it…”
He wrote a letter and provided his personal contact information. After they met a few times, the atmosphere was good, and her response was also good so he thought it was going well.
His time with her seemed like his own time, not Kang Hyukjun's, which was packaged in the media. The moment he met her was his happiness. He thought Dayoon would be happy to spend time with him, just like he did.
However, that might not be the case.
‘…This can't be the end.’
Hyukjun nervously tapped the steering wheel.
‘Come on, Dayoon, come out quickly. Please move your eyes vividly, even if it's indifferent, unrequited or angry eyes.’

Dayoon glanced at the familiar vehicle stopping in front of her company through the building window. It was his car. The sun was already getting dark… how long had he been waiting in front of her company?
She sighed.
Hyukjun was more tenacious and tougher than she thought.
Looking out the window, she hurriedly closed the blinds.
There was no way that would be the case, but somehow Dayoon felt like she had made eye contact. That b*stard didn't seem to know how to give up. Well, since he was such a proud person, he might not think he had been rejected.
Dayoon thought she had to end things with him today.
Having made up her mind, she got up.
She raised her eyes, painted her lips bright red, and put on makeup combatively—the makeup that defeated all the ex-sex partners who were clingy to her. Then, she picked up a clutch bag with a brick in it, just in case she needed to hit him before coming out of the president's office, combat-ready.
Even though she was an M and enjoyed sadism, Dayoon had no intention of settling down with anyone. The world was wide, and there were many men. Besides, there were often crazy people who tried to control the daily lives of people whom they mistook as their girlfriends.
She was used to this kind of thing.
Even so, it wasn't that she wasn't afraid to confront them. If something went wrong, she might really die.
Dayoon's heart thumped as she rode the elevator down.
As the car drew closer, she squeezed the bag with brick in her hand. When Hyukjun saw Dayoon, he opened the car door and came out excitedly.
Hyukjun, who looked neat, greeted her lightly.
“Oh, are you out? I was waiting for you.”
When he carefully held her hand and guided her to the passenger seat, Dayoon shook off Hyukjun's hand and burst into anger when she saw his face.
‘Really, why was he being so clingy?’
“I told you not to call me privately… I said I have a boyfriend.”
“Get in first.”
“Are you crazy? You want me to get in your car?”
He was rather excited than angry seeing her hateful look at him. The people who always approach him smile, act pretentious, and try to curry points. Ah, they were a group of people that he couldn’t help but hate.
He grabbed her hand again.
Even though he wanted to keep holding on to it, feeling her hand that kept slipping away felt disappointing so Hyukjun kept trying to hold her hand in his regretful heart.
He didn’t know why he was like this.
Why was he so out of control he couldn’t control himself? He couldn't figure out the reason for his actions. It was rather strange.
“Oh, this crazy b*stard! I said no!”
A bag swung in front of his eyes along with Dayoon’s loud voice. As her clutch bag hit his ear, a burning pain came along with a ringing sound.
What the hell was inside?
Hyukjun lost his balance for a moment and collapsed. For a moment, he thought his vision was flashing. He checked the time written on his cell phone and touched his forehead.
1:43 AM
[ 1 unread message ]
When he opened his eyes, it was early morning and he was in his car. Did she put him in his car? He checked the one unread message.
[ Don't come back again. ]
Honk!
The car horn rang. At the same time, the money on his lap fell to the floor with his violent movement. Three checks… was she telling him to use it for treatment? When he touched his forehead, a thick stream of blood came out.
He realized that he was really dumped.
A really stubborn rejection.
“Ha…! Haha.”
Hyukjun let out a laugh and hardened his face.
Dayun's rejection was stubborn. Still, he had no intention of letting her go either. If legal means wouldn’t work, he’d take her by all means.
