Chapter 743: Misunderstandings

As Leo regained his footing, he pointed his dagger straight towards Tor’s neck, however despite having the opportunity to take his head clean off, he paused right before he pierced it, as he pulled away.

He had done so for no other reason but to toy with his enemy’s morale, as he assessed the gap between himself and his enemy to be large enough to not worry about it.

However, what he did not know was that by cancelling his strike at the last moment, he accidentally avoided a fate of assured death.

“How? How did you know that I activated that move? How did you avoid my trap?” Tor asked in shock, as suddenly blood began to trickle out of his lips and his ears.

Within seconds, he dropped to his knees before dropping dead as his HP bar dropped from 100% to 0% in a matter of five short seconds.

‘What the fuck just happened here?’ Leo wondered internally, as he did not understand what happened, however, with his own body being okay he did not care too much for it either.

His opponent had used the move [Shared Fate] to drag Leo down with him, and had Leo even so much as scratched him during that period, he would have died for sure.

[Shared Fate] was a berserker class special skill, which upon activation tied a berserker’s fate with that of their opponent, which meant that if the Berserker died during the skills active period, so would their opponent.

However, on the down side, if the user of the skill did not die after 20 seconds of activation, they would suffer irreversible internal bleeding and die.

Having activated the skill when Leo began his dash, Tor had hoped to die quickly, dragging Leo alongside him, however, through some sheer luck, Leo managed to avoid being tied with the strings of [Shared Fate] by not attacking Tor despite having the chance.

For [Shared Fate] to mark him as an opponent, he needed to hit Tor once during the skills active period, however, with him being too egotistical to hit his weak opponent, Leo somehow avoided the grim fate of death, creating another misunderstanding about his abilities.

“You— you can look into the future, yeah? That’s your main ability? Isn’t it? You can look a couple seconds into the future…. That’s the only way you avoided hitting Tor” Lysa said, her voice trembling as she involuntarily took a step away from Leo.

[Shared Fate] was the trump card that the DarkSky guild had prepared against Leo, and Tor was the only guild member who could wield it.

For [Shared Fate] to work, there were a lot of restrictions, such as:-

1) The opponent could not be more than twice as strong as the host.

2) The host had to be in perfect health condition and could not be damaged even slightly before the activation of the skill.

3) The skill could only be used once in 6 months, making it a burden to have on the skill-slot.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

4) Despite executing everything correctly, the success rate for the skill to trigger was still only 80%.

It was a skill that only Tor, being a level 505 warrior could use against Leo who was now nearly level 999, as there wasn’t a single other berserker within the DarkSky guild who could fulfill the first condition alone.

Having anyone else use it would guarantee failure and with the skill only usable once in 6 months it was dead-weight on one’s skill slot.

It was impossible and cruel to demand any guild member to voluntarily give up a skill-slot for such a seldom used skill that still had only an 80% chance of success and hence the DarkSky guild had no-one else who cultivated this move.

It was supposed to be the ultimate contingency against ‘TheBoss’, who was ruthless and cold and it was a move that ‘TheBoss’ was never supposed to see coming.

The reason behind why Cervantez had chosen to send Tor and Lysa to the frontlines was because he anticipated ‘TheBoss’ interfering and hoped to deal with him early, however, that plan was not all but ruined.

The ultimate weapon that the DarkSky guild had prepared for months against ‘TheBoss’, had failed to deliver the kill when it mattered the most and it gave rise to a world of misunderstandings.

As per Leo’s nature, it was unlikely for him to ever spare an enemy just to toy with them, as that simply wasn’t his style of fighting.

He was a ruthless fighter to his bone, and hence when he spared Tor for the sole reason to toy with him some more, Lysa misunderstood this as him being able to look into the future, which absolutely terrified her as a player.

[Future Sight] was a rumoured divine move within the world of Terra Nova that had many urban legends about it but was never seen in use.

Not a single player in the world claimed to have obtained the divine skill scroll for [Future Sight] and even players who exchanged a life-time of MP to search for the whereabouts of that skill only received ambiguous clues in return.

However, today, Lysa seemed mistakenly assured that Leo was in possession of that skill, and she screamed it out loud over and over again, in a livestream being watched by millions.

“The Boss has future sight!”

“THE BOSS HAS FUTURE SIGHT”

“The Boss has….”

She repeated the same sentence over and over again in panic, until Leo silenced her with [The Kill Strike] as she died propagating a lie that was a figment of her own creation.

“If I say, that I don’t actually have future sight, would you believe me?” Leo muttered once she died, however, his words only seemed to reinforce the beliefs of the onlookers that he did in fact have it.

To the world…. It was as if the biggest and best guarded secret of ‘The Boss’ had finally been exposed.
