Temporal Pearls

Chapter 49: Not Alone

Seth stared at his recovering health conditions with a frown. He doesn't like it. Without a progress indicator, he knew the game might d up screwing with him.

In the d, he dismissed it with a sigh. It was a good lesson and he should do well to remember it in the future.

What he learned was Quest didn't care about players' condition, it doesn't give immunity to players.

Wh he was asked to mix all water, he should have prepared. Having immunity or a cure to Poison Beauty was impossible but if he had prepared a way to breathe while he immersed himself, the situation would have not become worse.

Seth glanced at the Womb and noticed something strange. He didn't spd hr in the game and it was already 60%.

Seth called upon the Womb status and checked well before he understood. Wh he logged out at the sleep stage, the Womb kept charging. But the charging will be slow. Wh he was in the game, the charging was faster.

Another thing he comprehds was that as his mind became sharper also contributed to it.

Seth sighed at his sorry state. He was now bound to stay in place until he can move. He weakly dragged a slice of dried meat and he began chewing, lamting the fact that most of his meat was soaked by the rain.

He could have put them out to dry if he could move.

While Seth has become a sitting dock, beyond the forest in the Dead Land something was happing.

***

"Damn, fucking roots"

A monster that was a mishmash of differt beasts cursed. It has the head of a vulture, forelegs of a camel and hind legs of an ostrich.

On its back, where the wings were supposed to be, were the ears of elephants, and the hump of an ox. Its whole body was covered with something one can call the pelt of a pig.

What made it hideous wasn't the amalgamation of many animals but the monster's dark brown swellings all over its body.

From time to time, they will pop and black puss will ooze out of it and a rancid smell will permeate the suring, th the monster will release three tongues from its underbelly where the jigsaw mouth was and licked away all the goo back.

The situation in the Dead Land was peculiar. Wh the rain fell, it did wet the dried lands but the water never passed m below the crevices. And wh it accumulated, the water overflowed on the surface. In some parts of the Dead Lands, the rainwater floated above the g.

All the living creatures of the land will come from their abode to drink and store the water. But they can only do that within a couple of hours or days after the rain, the reason was…

~Living Root forest!

The forest has spread its roots far and wide hundred of miles away from its main body. Most of these roots were dormant but the momt they ssed water, they immediately became active and would start sucking it away.

And in just a short period of time, the wetland will be dried again. The beasts and monsters, if they didn't store water, would dry and die.

But due to adaptability, most of these beasts have sacs in their bodies that store water. Some can also ter a dormant state until another source of water arrives.

Gawee Contint was mostly Deadland and it was composed of the worst possible nightmarish creatures, one thing remained, Living Roots was one of the worst terrors that most Beasts and Monsters avoid at all cost.

~Including Dragons!

******

"Aura Sight!" Seth shouted with all his might.

The world changed to the mere glow of colours for a second before it came back to normal.

Most people have found calling out spells stupid or idiotic but the truth was it has some basis in reality.

Wh you call upon something, your mind will conctrate on it and all distractions will shift away.

It's like couragemt during training—the shout of the instructor will keep the cadets ' minds focused and sharp on the action being done.

Seth couldn't activate the Aura Sight. But whever he shouted its name, he forcefully activated it for a second.

And he has be doing that for four hours straight. Wh he was tired he fall asleep and after recovering he will continue.

He didn't feel it, but Seth was improving.

If he gets tired of all that, he will focus on the Womb and fantasize about using it. But think as he may, what gave him a foul mood was that, how in heav's name will he be able to defeat a Dragon.

He can't ev level up unless he has Class. That means his power might be improved but it will not be offsive power.

Wh he thought about exploring the Dead Land he felt fear and excitemt. Still, he knew he needed to learn a lot of things to prepare for that exploration.

That was if he take it that far. What he was planning was to explore the whole forest in and out. Sadly, he was poison.

*******

While Seth was having complicated emotions about being stranded in the middle of the forest alone and having poison in his system with no appart cure, in another location far away from Living Roots, someone was in a similar situation.

Which among the two has a better situation is a matter of perspective. And it might be unlikely that the two will want to trade situation despite their precarious situation.

"Poor kid, he is so young and was betrayed. I hope he did not develop a Heart Demon!" A grey hair old man said.

No one knew who he was commting on as he was in a small cave that only allowed him to be in a crouching position. He seemed to be taking a dump. Finishing his business, the old man whistled and cleaned himself before he put back his pants.

He seemed to be in a good mood. The cave was pitch black and the man used his hand to find his way a.

He crawled out where there was some ray of light, but not ough to see a. But the old man doesn't ev react to it as most players might stay a it to have a respite from the unceasing pitch darkness.
