Chapter 62 Getting Side Quests
After God Zeshion left, the lady called to me from behind.
"Tamer Will, I thank you on behalf of the Capital City. Without your help, the damage would surely be larger than it is."
She gently said as she passed a storage ring to me.
"As thanks, let me give you this storage ring and double your prize money for eliminating those ten Demon Tamers. Your payment is already inside, you can confirm it later."
I was surprised at how quickly she worked.
"Thank you, miss..."
I stuttered as I don't know her name. As she seemed to have realized that I don't know her name, she quickly introduced herself.
"I'm Yu Na, the presiding lord of the Capital City. Forget formalities for now, since this place is still a battlefield. You can call me Miss Yu."
"Thank you for your consideration, Miss Yu."
I quickly bowed my head to at least show the minimum amount of respect she deserves as a noble. Since she's the presiding lord of the Capital City, she should be a Marquis at least.
"You're heading to the Virgil's territory, right?"
Yu Na asked. I know she heard my talk with God Zeshion, so she should only be confirming my plans.
"Yes, we are."
"Great then, can I ask for a favor? There are other items inside that storage ring. Please pass it to the acting head of the Virgil Family."
"..."
This... Is the type of sidequest that you can't refuse. She's basically telling us "I gave you the storage ring, so deliver its contents first."
Of course, since it's along the way, I accepted her request. The storage ring she gave me had a larger space than my previous one. It was roughly ten times the other's capacity.
After telling me her request, Yu Na quickly went away. We didn't want to stay in the tent with just the three of us, so we quickly walked away, heading for the gates. Along the way, we saw just how much damage to the facilities the Demon Tamers caused.
Hundreds of houses and shops were destroyed beyond repair. Even the government building, which I often visit, was half destroyed. Looking at the receptionists standing near the entrance, it seems that they were all safe though.
Seeing them, I remembered the receptionist last night that told me to return at noon. Now that I was planning on leaving early, I should at least notify her. Looking around, I quickly found her. As she was the only one with curled bob-cut brown hair, it was easy to recognize her.
"Excuse me, miss."
I quickly called from behind. She turned around and was surprised.
"Tamer Will! So you're safe too. Thank god."
She sighed in relief. I didn't expect her to worry about me, but I thanked her nonetheless.
"Thank you for worrying. Also, about the letter, I already met with God Zeshion earlier. Thanks for passing it to them."
She quickly shook her head as I gave my thanks.
"I was just doing my job... Are you heading somewhere?"
She had quite a sharp intuition. I nodded my head in confirmation.
"Yes, we're heading for the Virgil Territory for now. We'll be leaving soon."
Hearing that, she claimed "Please wait" before running inside the half-destroyed church-like building. After a few minutes, she returned with a heavy-looking large wooden crate about a meter wide on each side.
"P-Please deliver this to the government office there. Of course, we'll pay for the troubles."
As she wiped her sweat, she quickly passed a card to me. It was a small black card, about the size of a credit card. There was no engraving or writing anywhere, making it hard to determine its purpose.
"This is a VIP Tamer's Proof, you can show it at any government office to receive prompt services. I think this will help you in the future, Tamer Will."
Did I get a VIP treatment just for the promise of delivering a box? What a steal.
"I'll make sure to pass this box to the office over there. Rest assured!"
I said as I quickly placed it inside my old storage ring. The new one was extremely full, with no space to spare, so I have no choice but to use my cramped storage ring instead. Luckily, it was still mostly empty with all my supplies almost used up.
After gaining another thing to do along the way, we then said goodbyes before leaving through the gate. When the guards saw the black card I was holding, they quickly let me pass through. Who thought that it was also usable in this way?
"Okay! Ember, Fang! Let's go to Virgil's territory! To the West!"
This short visit to the capital had been fortuitous, making me feel elated. Hearing my excited shout, the two followed my steps and replied.
"Yes, Master!"
"Of course, Leader!"
---
In a space where the sun is not shining, a glowing portal was slowly rotating. Ripples appeared on its surface as a person emerged from within.
"It's been a while, Phantom." The man, who looks so unkempt it wasn't weird to think of him as a bum, said with a toothy grin.
Another man wearing a black hood knelt in front of the unkempt man.
"Welcome back, Lord Agor. We've been awaiting your return."
"Yea, I'm back... Finally back..."
The unkempt man said with a little bit of nostalgia. He then stretched his body, as if he was stiff all over. His clothes got snapped as his chiseled muscles bulged.
"Aaah, it's really been a while. To think that I wouldn't need to stay inside that cramped cell anymore..."
After he finished his stretches, he was finally warmed up. He was releasing black-colored steam from all over his naked body. However, before anyone else could say anything to him, a black mass came from his shadow and covered his entirety. Soon, his unkempt appearance changed to a familiar face.
"Zeshion... I'll definitely have my revenge!"
He was the spitting image of God Zeshion, albeit with black colors instead of blue. The hatred burned in his eyes as he cursed upon the heavens. "I'll end you this time for sure!"
