Systemless in a Parallel World

Chapter 74 Spar

"Kiddo, how about my Sword Style?" A hoarse voice resounded behind Zayn and he turned around.

He was not sure when or how the middle-aged man suddenly appeared out of nowhere but a man with a jacked physique appeared in his view.

Zayn thought that the man was nice at first, but this impression of the bulky man changed almost instantaneously. The bulky Adventurer frowned as he looked at Zayn's covered arm, which was enough reason for his attitude and expression to change.

"Are you sure that you have the necessary money?" He asked Zayn, all the earlier cheerful attitude wiped out from his face and replaced by a stoic expression. Zayn frowned while looking up to stare straight into the greedy eyes of the bulky Adventurer.

Their eye contact lasted for a few seconds before Zayn turned back to Silas.

"Who is he?" He asked, not bothering about hiding his confusion. Zayn spoke in a voice loud enough for the bulky Adventurer to hear. The Adventurer's frown deepened and he was just about to thrash the presumed Normie when Silas answered.

"This is Dirk Hax. He is a C-rank Adventurer with a pretty unique Sword Style. It's not exactly fast but deadly. I would have recommended him and two other Adventurers take a look at their fighting styles. Though, I'm not sure if you have enough money to hire a C-rank Adventurer as your Instructor. Their fees are on the higher side."

Zayn got to know enough from Silas' answer to turn back to Dirk Hax. He stared at the bulky Adventurer without a worry and sized up his body.

'Herculean could learn much more from him than I. My body is probably not fit enough for his Sword Style, but who knows?' Zayn wondered for a moment, thinking about something before he replied to the earlier question of the arrogant bulky Adventurer.

"Rather than worrying about my money, shouldn't you be more interested in showing me your Sword Style first? Looks like you're in need of money, but I'm not someone you can extort, whether I'm a Normie or not. If you're looking for an easy job, you have definitely come to the wrong person!" Zayn said, determined to figure out how compatible he was with the Adventurer's Sword Style.

Dirk Hax looked at Zayn for a few seconds and he kept staring into the young Normie's eyes the whole time. There was not an ounce of fear in the brat's eyes, which was something one could hardly find when encountering other Normies. Most Normies were timid pushovers who weren't even man enough to look into his eyes, let alone confident brats such as the youngster in front of him.

"How about a spar?" Dirk asked out of a reflex, wanting to put the youngster in his place for being so daring toward him.

Zayn gave Dirk a nod which was enough for the bulky Adventurer, whose head flicked to Silas. The young receptionist took this as a sign, which caused him to sigh deeply.

"Just don't cripple him, please," Silas mumbled as he walked out from behind the wooden counter. He led Dirk and Zayn to the backside of the Adventurer Hall and led them to a large courtyard filled with various training equipment. There was also a small arena if one could consider it as such. It was a small flat space encircled with stones to outline the borders of the arena.

Nobody thought that it was anything special but it was not as if anyone bothered about that either way. While Dirk retrieved a light wooden sword from the training equipment, he looked over to Zayn who was trying to search for wooden weapons with similar properties and balance as the weapons he used.

"You can go and bring your weapons. There is no need for you to worry about my well-being or safety in the spar. A youngling at your age won't be able to scratch me!" Dirk Hax said with seemingly indestructible confidence. He laughed out loud while Zayn entered the arena as well.

He accessed one of his expanding pouches and retrieved both the silver iron shortsword and his saber after removing the cloak. The cloak disappeared inside the expanding pouch, exposing Zayn's physique.

His clothes were extremely simple shades of pale gray. However, they didn't fit him perfectly anymore since the influx of soul particles spurted his body's growth drastically.

The ordinary gray clothes clinging onto the muscles all over his body like a second skin. Silas and Dirk found themselves looking at each other for a second or two before they regained their senses. It was a surprise to see such a well-trained body of a youngster who had barely graduated from the Academy. As a Normie, Zayn was not even supposed to have received proper training since he wouldn't receive the chance to enter the special curriculum of the Academy either way.

"Did your family help you train your body and buy an expanding pouch?" Dirk asked all of a sudden, thinking that his family were merchants with money but did not have a resource to train Zayn in combat. This would explain why the brat was so confident that he could afford a C-rank Adventurer as his Instructor!

"Nope, I'm an Orphan," Zayn answered, shattering the theories of the two Blessed in an instant. Changing his stance, Zayn indicated that he was not willing to wait any longer, and their fight began the moment Dirk began to move.

He looked at Zayn while adopting a defensive stance, trying to figure out how strong the confident youngster was.

What he didn't expect to notice was that Zayn's acceleration was shockingly fast. He had released some soul particles through his feet to strengthen his feet and to give himself a tiny push, creating the illusion of an explosive burst. At the same time, golden membranes shrouded his weapons as he closed in.

The arena in the courtyard of the Adventurer Hall was small and Zayn reached Dirk just a moment later.

His eyes were without a trace of emotion as he slashed at the vital spots of his opponents.

The blades whizzed through the air, and they were just about to hit the designated targets when Dirk began to move.
