Systemless in a Parallel World

Chapter 49 Not Again...

The three figures clad in silver armor watched the battle that commenced between Zayn and the Undead.

They didn't even think of joining the battle since it was not necessary, to begin with.

Zayn and the Herculean Human Spirit were fighting in the front row while the Agile Human Spirit had disappeared. It reappeared in the back rows of the dozens of Goblin Skeletons that were crushed one after another.

Neither the Herculean Human Spirit nor the Agile Human Spirit targeted the Skeletons' Core of the Undead and merely crushed their bones using the large iron mace or the knuckles of the karambit knuckles that were adorned with small spikes.

The Herculean Human Spirit crushed the lower body of the Goblin Skeletons with ease while the Agile Human Spirit required two to three hits before completely destroying a Goblin Skeleton and turning it into a heap of bones and skull.

Meanwhile, the Sparrow Spirits' attack pattern was completely different. They were told to scout the surroundings and inform the others how far the two other groups of Goblin Skeletons were. Thus, the Sparrows ended up sending signals to inform Zayn and the two Human Spirits through chirping rather than joining the battle.

They couldn't break their bones and render the Goblin Skeletons unable to continue fighting and would have to kill them directly the moment their fire needles were to pierce the Cores of the Undead. Zayn didn't think that it was necessary to waste the precious soul particles by allowing someone else to kill the Undead instead of himself considering that he was not exactly in a pickle for now.

Wielding the silver iron shortsword with great precision, Zayn pierced through the narrow gaps in the Goblin Skeleton's rib cage, precisely slicing the Cores of the Undead one after another.

He didn't grasp their Soul Wisps but instead ran through them. His perception and instincts told him that nobody was watching him, but Zayn didn't want to take a risk for the time being. He was a little bit worried that someone was actually observing him since that was actually what the letter of the Assassin Legatus conveyed.

It was a great fortune that Zayn didn't rely on his instincts and perception since he was actually being watched from high above him.

"I've never seen an ability like that before. Is that a variety of Necromancy?" Sarah wondered while leaning closer to the edge of the cloud in an attempt to get a better view of the situation below her.

"It's the first time for me to see such an ability as well. What do you think, Honey?" The slightly older woman next to Sarah asked as her head turned over to her husband, who stared blankly at Zayn who was fighting down below.

"Honey!!...Alexander!"

Alexander, who was known by Zayn under the title Innkeeper of the Adventurer Hall, regained his senses and he looked over to his wife.

"What did you say, darling?" He asked while trying to force a smile on his face. Alexander gave his utmost to hide the complicated feelings that were eating away at his mind as he looked at his lovely wife.

"Commander, you have to listen to your wife, otherwise, you will suffer miserably in the future!" Sarah teased Alexander all of a sudden while smiling at the Vice-Commander, "Aint that right Vice-Commander Nicole?"

Sarah had changed compared to before. She didn't have to force herself to behave like a graceful person anymore. It was annoying to fake your identity, and entire persona which included your behavior. Nonetheless, she did whatever the Vice-Commander and Commander had told her to do since she wanted to stay by their side when they chose to leave the capital behind.

"Why are you starting to talk to us like that again? You know that we don't like these titles…" Nicole, the Vice-Commander, and Alexander's wife grumbled while flicking Sarah's forehead lightly.

"...But I'm just so happy…" Sarah grumbled in a low voice, rubbing her forehead as she got an idea while she acted as if the flick against her forehead had actually hurt, "Or do you want me to call you Mom and Dad? The two of you raised me, after all!"

Nicole sighed deeply and waved off her hand, "Just do whatever you want."

"Okay, I will...Mom~" Sarah grinned and jumped at the opportunity the instant she was given permission, just for Nicole to lift her head.

"Nevermind, that's too much…scratch that."

"Okay~"

While Sarah was playing around with Nicole, Alexander's attention had been pulled back to Zayn.

He clearly recalled his chats with Zayn and couldn't imagine that he was a bad person. However, the appearance of the two Human Spirits caused his confidence to waver a bit.

"There are no Spirits in the central region, and the Sparrow Spirits are Pyrat Sparrows, for sure. So…he killed humans and materialized their Souls in the form of Spirits?" Alexander concluded, worrying at his lips as he kept watching the rest of Zayn's battle against the Goblin Skeletons.

The victory was on Zayn's side but that didn't change Alexander's interest in the situation that followed suit.

'The Human Spirits didn't kill the Goblin Skeletons.'

"He can probably see the Souls of other beings, which is why he can also initiate Soulwishes as long as he is the one who delivers the final blow to the Undead, other monsters, and humans," Sarah remarked all of a sudden as she appeared next to Alexander Fall, the man who had raised her with his wife, Nicole Fall, and was also the Commander of the Silverheart Legion. At least, before he left the Legion.

Sarah pointed down at Zayn who finished off the Goblin Skeletons that had been crippled just moments before. He walked through their Soul Wisp, devoured the ownerless soul particles, and amassed them inside his heart where they waited to be processed.

However, Zayn was not in a hurry to do so immediately. Rather, he focused on the two other groups of Undead which he eliminated as well.

"As you can see, he is getting stronger the more he fights. It doesn't look like he has much combat experience and he isn't necessarily good with the sword either but his raw strength is increasing steadily." Sarah assessed Zayn's strength while glancing over to Alexander from the corner of her eyes.

Alexander stared blankly at Zayn and he didn't say a word for a while.

"Are you thinking about killing him? If you cannot do it, I will go down, finish him and come back," Sarah proposed after two minutes of silence had passed. Zayn finished up his fight against the groups of Goblin Skeletons and he began to collect the Cores of the Undead.

After all, he was not going to let somebody else reap the benefits of his hard work. Plus, he had more than enough space inside his expanding pouch to collect thousands of tiny, yet valuable marbles!

"Forget it…I don't want to be the cause for another execution…" Alexander mumbled, which caused Nicole to look at him for a few seconds. "Activate the tracker on the card…we will return to the capital…There is something I need to report."

"You want to report him to the royals? Is that really necessary?" Nicole asked with a baffled expression. It clearly showed that she had not forgotten the cruelty of the royals when it came to punishing potential threats to the society, no matter if they were actually harmless and just trying to become stronger to be of use to society, or actually turn into mass-murdering existences.

And powerful Normies or Normies with the potential to become powerful in the near future were the biggest threat to society, or so everyone said.

After all, they couldn't be restrained in the same way as Blessed!

"I won't report Zayn. Until I know what he plans on doing, and what his course of action is, I won't do anything about him. The Human Spirits might be the materialized Souls of Undead Humans or criminals…so I won't do anything...yet…" He said slowly, not hiding how conflicted he was, "I made that mistake once…and I won't repeat it again.."

"What do you want to report then?" Sarah enquired, trying to change the topic a little since she realized that both Nicole and Alexander were having a hard time coming to a decision. Meanwhile, Alexander pointed down to the scattered piles of bones.

"Even if everyone says that Normies are dangerous, I don't like the motherfucking Gods who think that they can just play around with us as if we're their puppets!"

"...They always do whatever they want…it's about time that things change a little…"
