Systemless in a Parallel World

Chapter 44 Smooth Ride

Zayn reached the Inn in the town's outskirts after walking through the looming darkness of late night for quite a while.

His steps were slow and he felt exhausted after enacting his plan. Thus, he slowly trudged into his room where he sat down on the ground almost immediately.

The memories of the bloody bar fight swirled through his mind and they caused his expression to distort further.

'On a good note, Phillip and two of his followers are dead, nobody will think that I did it. Everyone else will be considered a prime suspect except the Innkeeper and his people! The other drunk Blessed may have a hard time escaping the investigating authorities…but they won't be murdered just like that…I guess?'

Zayn was certain that his assassination had been a great success. It was simply not possible for anyone to take note of his actions because everyone except the Innkeeper, his wife and their staff had been drunk beyond salvation.

Nobody behind the counter had been able to see his attack either since his fire needles had been hidden behind the drunkards' bodies. They had acted like a wall, which was also why Zayn was not further worried about being found out.

'The Innkeeper won't have to face any punishment…right?' He began to wonder, knowing very well that he was a hypocrite to think about the aftermath of his actions only after he had silently sneaked out of the Inn.

Zayn didn't really care whether the drunkards would be punished since they didn't hold back when punching and kicking the members of Phillip's group. Their attacks would have been enough to kill each other, so they might as well be punished as accomplices for the death of the three Blessed!

'If they follow their Gods mindlessly, or drink beyond their limit, they might as well deserve to be taught a lesson!'

Shaking his head, Zayn released Phillip's Soul Wisp next to him. With the Soul Extraction technique, he prevented the Soul Wisp from ascending which consumed some of the ownerless soul particles. This made it more difficult to use the Spirit Manifestation technique on the Soul Essence later since the ownerless soul particles that had to be devoured to manifest the Spirit properly would be much fewer than under normal circumstances.

Phillip had already completed more than half of his first Soulring and his Stigma was quite big, indicating his decent talent.

Zayn took note of everything but he couldn't really pay much attention to it since his entire body was flooded with the soul particles he had absorbed from Jens, who had already finished one Soulring, and another Blessed, who had been extremely close to finishing his first Soulring.

It was only obvious but the number of soul particles that had entered his body at once was incomparable to what he had absorbed until now altogether!

Zayn tried to ignore the pain that spread through his entire body as he entered a meditative stance after sitting cross-legged on the ground. He closed his eyes and control bits of the soul particles that swirled aimlessly through his entire body at the same time.

Slowly leading a few soul particles to his heart, Zayn made sure that his heart wouldn't face any difficulties annexing the overflowing soul particles without a hurry.

This was a necessity since his heart wouldn't be able to cope with all the soul particles at once. The soul particles of Paul's Soul Wisp had yet to be fully annexed by his heart and a mass several times bigger than that had already entered his body!

Zayn didn't dare to even think about sleeping as he forced himself to keep circulating the soul particles inside his heart without rushing anything. He created a string of soul particles which he then smoothly inserted inside his heart. That required a precise control, something that Zayn only possessed due to the muscle memories of his body.

He could do much more with soul particles than organize everything within his body neatly.

The smooth ride of his soul particles continued to cause Zayn tremendous pain but he endured it without uttering a sigh. And by the time he was done it was already late afternoon.

His clothes were drenched in a cold sweat and his muscles were sore but he felt extremely happy. Thus, he removed all his clothes after he got up from the ground, just to crash into his bed where he was immediately pulled into a deep slumber.

The next time he woke up, Zayn ate the remaining jerky and he quenched his thirst by drinking several liters of water at once by finishing one of his leather flasks within a few minutes.

He was feeling extremely happy and satisfied with himself and rubbed his belly when he lowered the empty flask. It was dark outside again and Zayn sighed deeply.

His eyes darted to Phillip's Soul Wisp which had already devoured more than half of the soul particles that were attached to it.

"Looks like you're rushing me a little…well, that doesn't matter…" Zayn mumbled to himself as he extracted the Soul Essence from the Soul Wisp before he used Spirit Manifestation with the remaining ownerless soul particles that had once belonged to the Soul Wisp.

Zayn focused on the manifestation of the Spirit that slowly took shape. A Human Spirit the same height as Zayn formed after a while. It flickered a little and swayed from one side to the other as if it was drunk but it finally steadied itself.

The Human Spirit was skinny but extremely fast, which Zayn noticed as the light green semi-transparent Spirit dashed forward.

"Come here…Phillip!" Zayn ordered all of a sudden. The skinny Human Spirit turned around to him but it tilted its head. Through their connected souls the skinny Human Spirit could clearly tell that Zayn was speaking to it, but the Spirit couldn't recall its connection to the name it had been called by its master.

"Interesting…" Zayn mumbled, the corners of his lips curling upward as he motioned the Spirit to come closer, "Get over here and look me straight in the eyes!

The Spirit followed its master's command and looked straight in Zayn's ocean-blue eyes that gleamed coldly.

"Do you want to kill me?" He asked the Spirit that had been materialized through Phillip's Soul.

For a few seconds, the skinny Human Spirit didn't move before it nodded its head slowly.

"In that case…tear off your arm!"
