Chapter 199 Liberation War - Blessed
When the Army of Blessed appeared, not a single Demon was left standing. Their scouts told them about a huge war, but there was no sight of that.
Where did everyone disappear to? What happened to the Spiritmancer and his Army of Spirits? Did they run away to gather strength?
Nobody could tell the answer, and there was only one clue showing the result of the war between the Normies and the Demon King very clearly.
It was a picture…showing the Spiritmancer holding the Demon King's head high in the air.
The destruction across the outskirts of the Demon territory showed how devastating the Demon War had been. The Blessed Scouts had reported that the Demon King brought his army of thirty million demons to the battlefield. They faced a combat force of fewer than 50,000 opponents…yet they lost miserably.
"Doesn't that mean the Spirit Mancer has currently thirty million corpses which he can either manifest as Spirits to expand his Army, in addition to the concentrated orbs of soul force that his Termite Spirit can produce by devouring corpses? It can turn nutrition into soul particles, which means…" One of humanity's leaders summarized what the others thought.
"It means that the Spiritmancer's Spirit Army will reach six digits, that the Demon King and his direct subordinates are now Spirits and much stronger than before since they won't die easily as Spirits, and that the Spiritmancer is much stronger than we first expected. If he can kill the Demon King, he has to be on par with Peak-level Heroic Soul Saints when he goes all out," Another one added before he cleared his throat, "And he is growing stronger, much stronger by devouring the soul particle orbs of thirty million Demons…"
A gasp of utter shock and disbelief rang through the Army of the Blessed. They couldn't help but feel devastated.
At first, they thought that the military draft had been training and that they wouldn't have to worry about their future. However, the words of worry coming from their leaders were more than enough to spread through the entire army.
"We have to find the Spiritmancer and eliminate him before he can digest everything, otherwise, it will be too late!" A woman shouted out loudly and others nodded in agreement.
"Did the Divine King wake up?" A Heroic Soul Saint asked the woman next to him.
Streams of golden light conjured around her. They rotated slowly around her but gained speed quickly. In no time, the woman's body was shrouded in a golden cocoon of swirling streams.
The streams of golden light dispersed in all directions after a few seconds, casting a calming aura onto everyone as they passed through the air.
"The Divine King is awake and, on his way, here. He will arrive by tomorrow," She said calmly, turning her head to the Heroic Soul Saint. Her lifeless eyes stared at the man, who felt extremely tiny all of a sudden.
The power exuding from the woman was simply too terrifying.
"But there is something I don't really understand," The woman added.
"What do you not understand, Saintess?" The Heroic Soul Saint asked.
"The Gods are trying to send me a message but I cannot decipher it. This never happened before." She mumbled, taking her time to slowly decipher the divine message she received.
It took her a while, and the clouds covering the sun didn't really help her. The closer she was to heaven the easier it was for the Divine Beings to send a message. This time, however, all Gods sent her a message at the same time.
The letters written in the runic language were overlapping and hard to pull apart. Every God had their own tics and a unique way of writing their messages. This made it even more difficult for the Saintess to figure out what the Gods were trying to say.
Slowly, she unveiled the message of the Gods, but shock resounded through her entire being when she realized that the jumbled letters meant exactly the same once orderly arranged; RUN.
Everyone wrote it differently, but the meaning was the same – Run.
At first, the Saintess was confused. What was the hidden meaning behind the message? What was she supposed to run from? There was nothing around them to run from…run where?
But before she realized what was going on, a delayed message with different content reached her. The message's meaning was clear, there was nothing to interpret.
[Above you!!!]
The Saintess looked up reflexively and her eyes widened in terror. She couldn't believe what she was seeing and hoped that everything was just a nightmare, a dream she would wake up from soon.
However, it was not a dream. Everything she saw high up in the air was real.
Dark Wings, tens of thousands of them emerged out of the dark clouds, each carrying one or multiple Spirits, or Normies!
They descended with shocking velocity and smashed into the ground without any mercy for their own well-being, or the Blessed whom they smashed into.
The battlefield had already been destroyed but the downpour of Spirits created tens of thousands of huge craters, killing countless unguarded Blessed in an instant.
However, it was not yet over. A sea of flames conjured out of nowhere and thunderous crackles spread through the surrounding area while the Infernals lead their subordinates into an all-out war.
"He…didn't leave…The Spiritmancer trapped us…" The Saintess mumbled as she witnessed the shocking scenes that happened hundreds, if not hundreds of times, everywhere around her.
Instead of running away to train and become stronger until he was ready to fight the Blessed head-on, the Spiritmancer chose to do something nobody expected; he chose to assault the Army of Blessed when they expected it the least.
How effective was such a suicidal strategy? It was terrifying!
Zayn's Spirits were immortal and they could heal as long as they possessed enough soul particles to regenerate. Hoarding hundreds of Soul Orbs inside their bodies, each Spirit was like a walking nuclear bomb, overflowing with energy that could errupt at any moment.
Even without Zayn's active participation, the meteorite shower-like downpour of Spirits was already enough to kill tens of thousand. Many more died in the following seconds, unable to prepare for the sudden attack of merciless Immortal Spirits with the same combat prowess as Soul Overlords and Soul Adel.
However, that was not everything.
Zayn had the Infernals as well, and he was able to manifest as many Spirits as he wanted. After all, his sixth Soulring had just been formed, and new secrets of his past life had been unveiled to him.
He was still not sure what he should do with the sudden stream of memories that flooded his mind, but he chose to ignore it for the time being. It was not as if the memories of his past life could help him right now. They revolved around the creation of an Omni Soulring, and weren't relevant when it came to combat, after all!
Thus, he was not in need of these memories. He could put them aside and focus on what lay ahead.
For the first time in what felt like forever, Zayn felt free, unrestrained, and as if nobody could hold him back anymore.
He entered a Spirit Fusion with the Demon King Spirit and descended to the battlefield.
It was time that the Blessed reaped what they sowed; it was time to show them what it felt like to be on the losing side!
