Chapter 190 Exposed
When Zayn realized what was going on, it was already too late.
The Blessed saw the Army of more than 8,000 Spirits and comprehended the damage a single Spiritmancer of Zayn's capability could cause if left untouched. It dawned upon them why their Gods increased the number of missions to capture, interrogate, and kill Normies.
The missions seemed easy to accomplish and their rewards were great as well. This showed clearly that even the Blessed's Gods felt threatened by the existence of a certain Normie…and that Normie seemed to have appeared right in front of them.
Just as the Blessed were about to say something, several holographic screens appeared in front of them. Everyone was given one or more missions from their respective God.
"Protect the kidnapped humans, retreat and inform, or obliterate by all means…everyone got the same missions?" One of the Blessed asked while trying to keep his calm poker face.
His head spun wildly, and his heart was racing, but he couldn't allow anyone to find out how he truly felt.
"I only got the protection mission," Another Blessed said.
"Protect and Inform." A third Blessed added.
"Eliminate by all means."
"Eliminate."
"Inform"
"Protect and Inform"
"All three…"
Most received different missions according to the attributes of their Blessing. Some Blessed in the recently created team were healers, while others were Blessed with powers that focused on support rather than attack or defense.
"The rewards are too good to ignore them. I will take my leave and inform the government," One of the Blessed said before he turned around.
He received only one mission; to inform the government about their findings. The reward was great, much better than the rewards he could receive from the government for rescuing the kidnapped humans. Being a man who favors his own benefits, he chose the mission that rewarded him the most.
"You cannot leave just like that?!? Help us kill that Normie! Without you, it will be much more difficult!" One of his teammates shouted. He grasped the man's arm and held him back.
"He is right. Help us and everyone will benefit. Furthermore, we can fight the direct subordinates of the Demon King here. Let's make use of this opportunity!" The bulkiest Blessed present said. He was excited and retrieved a humongous battle-axe from his storage artifact.
"Fuck off. It's more likely that all of us will die here. Don't you understand that the most desperate animals are the hardest to eliminate? We have no information about this Spiritmancer, and if you look at him, you will see that this guy is not the slightest bit afraid!" The healer who wanted to leave retorted. He used his free hand to point at Zayn, who smiled at them.
It was as if he smelled an opportunity brewing in his surroundings.
Zayn's gaze roamed the battlefield. The Normies and the kidnapped humans rushed to them while the Demons stopped their approach more than half a kilometer from his position.
"Take these Soul Orbs to replenish your used-up soul particles and send the humans to the team of Blessed. We're not responsible for them anymore now that there here," Zayn said, throwing dozens of Soul Orbs to the Normies. The weakest of them was a Soul Adel but that was given.
If the Normies didn't have a high rank, they wouldn't have been able to rescue the humans that had been kidnapped.
"But…" A woman said, ready to retort Zayn. He was just a young kid, after all!
However, Zayn's ice-cold ocean-blue eyes were enough to make sure that the woman kept her mouth sealed shut.
"If you understand our situation, you wouldn't be trying to waste your energy speaking. Our lives are on the line because of those humans. You guys brought the direct subordinates to the Demon King straight to our headquarters – and to me. Now they know that humans have a Spiritmancer. They don't know that Normies are not really accepted in the human territory, which is why they're likely to give their all to attack us and kill me.
Thankfully, there is also a group of powerful Blessed, who wants to…kill me as well. I'm a Normie and a Calamity-level threat. Their Gods probably finished sending out missions to make sure that I will die today."
Zayn had a lot more to say but he was pretty sure that the woman – and the other Normies – understood his point. By rescuing the kidnapped humans, they lead the Demon King's troops to Zayn, and they made sure that the rescue team of the Blessed would be led to this specific battlefield as well.
It was not their fault since they didn't know that Zayn would be there. They wanted to try helping Normies to become part of mankind's society…how could that be bad?
Unfortunately, their actions led to this situation, which was a little bit troublesome.
"Just prepare for battle. We might have to fight our way through Demons and Blessed!!" The Normie King commanded this time.
He knew that Zayn was right. He was also fully aware that not everyone considered Zayn a true member of the Normie Union because he was still too young, and foolish... and because he was an Otherworldler, whose intentions were still unknown.
Nobody really knew anything about Zayn. Little did they know that he was also not too sure who he was.
However, none of that mattered right now.
The only thing of importance was that three out of 15 members of the Blessed rescue team left the group. By sending over the kidnapped humans, three more chose to leave the Demon King's territory. With only nine members left, their combat power decreased drastically.
Meanwhile, the Demon King's forces were still overflowing with power and presented with a terrifying numerical advantage.
There were more than ten Infernal Devils, with six fully developed Soulrings, more than a thousand Demon Adel, and tens of thousands of Demon Overlords. Defeating them was not exactly easy, even if the Normie King and more than three dozen powerful Normies were present.
"Yoo Blessed Guys. Can we reconsider ceasefire until those ugly Demons are killed?" Zayn asked, not really expecting a lot.
"Fuck off, idiot! Our mission is to kill you!!"
Just like he expected, the answer was not satisfying. However, there was nothing he could do about it.
"...Idiot…"
