Chapter 18 Bottom-Line
"You will confiscate my dagger? Who the hell do you think you are?!" The voice of the arrogant young man reached Zayn's ears once again.
Only then did he stop twirling the throwing dagger that looked like an aesthetic masterpiece in his fingers. He looked over to the young man, who was surrounded by the five Blessed that were in possession of the same Blessings.
The young man wore a light leather armor that was black in color, and a few more white throwing daggers were fastened to his belt, just like the longsword that attracted Zayn's interest for a moment.
Even if Zayn didn't know who the young man was, the equipment he wore showed quite clearly that he hailed from a rich family. The arrogant posture, the dark brown eyes that looked down on him scornfully and the well-trimmed shoulder-long hair didn't change Zayn's opinion of the young man.
And why would Zayn even care about the background, or talent of arrogant pricks?
"I'm just a young Normie, who was trying to make some money while reporting about the happenings in the Goblin Cave. Who are you though?" He retorted feigning an amused look that made the young man flare his nostrils.
"You ignorant fool! I thought that even the trash of the street knows my name…how could I be so wrong!?" The young man replied boastfully, trying hard to swallow his pride and ensure his victory in this vicious verbal spar.
"I am Phillip Cerk, and I–..." Phillip Cerk began in the same arrogant tone, only to be interrupted by Zayn.
"I don't really care…and you…don't really understand sarcasm, do you?"
Phillip Cerk had stepped closer to the counter when he introduced himself. But he skidded to a halt upon hearing Zayn's words and gave his utmost to maintain a poker face while simultaneously trying to digest the humiliating fact that a Normie was treating him like a nobody. An ominous aura was released from Phillip as he took another step closer to Zayn.
Meanwhile, Zayn squinted his eyes as he changed his stance.
"Hand over everything you procured from the Goblin Cave!" Phillip suddenly ordered, ignoring that the Blessed next to him was trying to calm him, "The Goblin Cave is off-limits for a lowly Normie like you!"
Zayn looked at Phillip for a few seconds before his gaze swept through the entire first floor of the Adventurer Hall. Most Blessed, including some of the five who were right next to Phillip, looked at the young man in frustration. Phillip had the largest Stigma in the Adventurer Hall and he was probably from an influential background, considering, that nobody said anything against his blatant bullying in the Adventurer Hall, even if the young man was one of the weakest Adventurer present!
'So that's the most annoying dude in the Adventurer Hall?' Zayn thought, trying to hide his smile as something else caught his eye.
"I don't need your permission to go out hunting, and I wanted to share my finds with the Adventurer Alliance to make sure that the surrounding towns can be protected well! You can pay me for the goods I acquired in the Goblin Cave, but you are delusional if you think that you can scam or threaten me!" He declared in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear before he turned in the direction of the door, which he approached with slow steps.
"I will take your leave if you don't want to buy anything."
Zayn's calm and composed attitude caused a switch to turn off in Phillip's brain as he took a step closer to the 14-year-old Normie.
"Where the hell do you think you're going with my dagger and other stuff? Hand over everything you have and I might spare your life after a thorough beating!" The young man snarled as he clenched his fists, ready to deliver on his promise.
Phillip's head was red in anger, and it was quite obvious what was about to happen.
However, Zayn could only roll his eyes.
'What a clichè…He acts just like a young master from a novel. The perfect extra!'
Phillip stormed towards Zayn, who had to react quickly.
He threw the dagger in the air while shouting out loud.
"There's your dagger!"
What happened afterward caused many Blessed to stare at Zayn in disbelief.
He didn't want to use the Human Spirit to deal with Phillip but that was not necessary to begin with. Zayn took matters in his own hands, in an overbearing manner at that!
Soul particles coursed through his upper body, reinforcing his physical attributes to the peak. His right hand moved to his scabbard and he grasped the handle of the silver iron shortsword just a moment later. In a rapid motion that looked like a blur, the shortsword was unsheathed.
It tore through the air and it looked like the blade was covered by a golden semi-translucent membrane as it cut through the right arm of the ignorant Phillip, whose attention had been drawn to the throwing dagger, shedding blood on the spotless floor of the Adventurer Hall.
'First come first serve, bitch…'
Even Zayn had a threshold to endure bullshit. The last few years had already thinned his patience and it was impossible to ignore the idiot of a 'young master' who thought that the entire fused realm revolved around him.
Thus, he dealt one powerful blow to cause enough distraction and commotion to allow him to bolt for the exit.
Zayn sheathed the sword just a moment later, ignoring the golden membrane he thought to have seen when the tip cut through Phillip's wrist.
Blood splattered through the surroundings and Zayn ran away.
A horrendous wail filled the entire Adventurer Hall but Zayn never stopped to look back and continued running.
'...Damn, what a crybaby…' He thought hearing Phillip's screams as he crossed the last few meters to the door of the Adventurer Hall.
All of a sudden, his entire body felt heavier and he was dragged up from the ground which seemed to be getting further and further away from him.
His feet lost its footing and Zayn couldn't help but look up to see the face that belonged to one of the five Blessed who had been with Phillip.
"Hehe…you caught me…"
'Well, that might have been a stupid move from me…I agree'
