Chapter 64: Boss (5)
Chapter 64: Boss (5)
After a few seconds of crawling, Luke realized that the wasps truly were acting as guards, but they were keeping a perimeter much larger if compared to the starving wolves. Nevertheless, Luke was enjoying that situation quite a bit. Overpowering his opponents was fun but defeating them without letting them notice what had happened had its charms.
When he was twenty meters away from the first group, Luke aimed with his crossbow. Fortunately, it seemed that the wasps didn’t have good senses. Otherwise, they should have picked his smell by now. Luke looked toward Rina, and then she nodded. After she enhanced his INT, Luke pulled the trigger several times in a row. In the next moment, four of the wasps got their heads destroyed by the wind bolts, and the last one got hit in the stomach, making it fall. However, Luke quickly noticed that and pulled the trigger again after adjusting his Aim. When the beast tried to get up, Luke hit its back and killed it once and for all.

“Hmm? This is a lot less thant I was expecting…” Luke muttered.
Some of the mutant zombies gave even more experience and gold coins after all, even when they were at level eleven and twelve. Considering that they had more health and mana, it seemed obvious that they were stronger.
“I know what you are thinking, while they have high HP and MP, their defense is so so,” Rina explained.
“Elemental creatures like that tend to have more weak points than neutral ones, thus, they are strong against certain types of opponents but weak against others,” Shalia added.
Luke nodded. While it was a bit disappointing, there was no point in wondering about that. So, Luke approached and began to look for the nearest group of wasps. It would be better if he circles around the city and slowly decreases the number of enemies while he increases his strength.
Although he recovered his mana before he found the next group, Luke had been unlucky. The wind suddenly began to blow stronger than before, coming from behind. Thanks to that, some wasps found him before he could surprise them. While clicking his tongue, Luke used Spark Ball several times and was paralyzed with its ranged effect. He thought that the enemies would be weak against Electric attacks, but they recovered pretty fast. With the crossbow in one hand and with his red claymore on the other, he resumed his attack and ended up killing only three of the seven wasps.
Two wasps approached Luke, while the others used Frozen Whisper. Luke felt the temperature around him decreasing, and he also felt his health dropping and his legs getting heavier. Meanwhile, the other two tried to impale his head with their sting.
Luke didn’t wait to feel the weight of the monster’s attack, so he used Stinger while aiming at the head of one of the monsters. Fortunately, the effects of Frozen Whisper didn’t affect his mobility with his skills. So, the sword pierced the head of the wasp. Before the creature could even fall, Luke pulled his sword and then swung to the side, hitting the other enemy. The attack hadn’t been powerful enough since Luke used his left hand, but he knocked down the beast and gave him time to use the crossbow.

The two remaining wasps stopped using their spells and moved toward Luke, but he hit them with ease by using his crossbow. That fighting style wasn’t so bad… if Luke could get used to using the crossbow with his left hand and then use a shorter but equally powerful sword, he would be good at close and long-ranged fights. In any case, one of the monsters dropped a potion, but it was different from the others. The bottles that Luke found until now were small and thick as a finger, but that one had the shape of a triangle.
Medium Quality Mana Potion
Restores forty points of mana upon use.
“A tier two potion, huh,” Luke said. “I wonder why they suddenly began to appear.”
“As expected… your planet is pretty irregular,” Rina said. “This type of potion only began to appear one month after monsters began to invade my world… things are going too fast here.”
“If you ask me, that isn’t a bad thing,” Shalia said. “If the monsters are growing stronger faster, then it means that the challenge will keep coming, and will make him stronger faster.”
Again, Luke agreed with both of them. Things were going too fast when it came to the invasion of Earth, but while Luke was adapting fast, the same couldn’t be said about most humans. From his perspective, Amanda and Celia were getting used pretty fast, but even so, when they had the chance, due to their lack of confidence, they joined another and bigger group. Thanks to that, they had to deal with a difficult situation.
After storing the potion in his pocket, Luke began to circle around the city again. Thanks to that, he found a route that would lead him to the heart of the city. It was pretty far away, but he found the crystal. It was right above the bridge of the Caloosahatchee river… as expected, hundreds of wasps were guarding it.
