Chapter 266 - Unexpected Goal (10)
Fortunately, other enemies had to step forward and then summon those shadow swords when the necromancer decided to attack again. It was probably because they consumed too much mana. Regardless, Luke couldn't afford to let those guys do whatever he wanted to; he dashed toward them and used Stinger again. This time, the target tried to block the string with its own sword, and while that worked, the enemy rolled on the ground after and its bones began to shatter and spread around the place
Luke used Stinger again and knocked down several others, but by doing so, he got surrounded. Five of those death knights charged at him, and seeing that swinging their swords would be faster, they tried that, but they ended up cutting the air. Luke escaped by using Checkpoint, and in the next moment, he attacked a skeleton from behind and split the creature in half. The bones began to fall apart, and then the sword and armor dissipated like a shadow against the light… the remaining turned into regular bones. It was weird given that the enemy summoned them in a different way than Luke knew, still, it wasn't time to think about that.
You obtained 50 experience points.
You obtained 50 gold coins.
"So little experience and gold coins… is it because they are summoned, creatures?" Luke furrowed his eyebrows.
The death knights assumed defensive stances as if they were being controlled by the necromancer. In contrast, the ones behind summoned their shadow swords. She knew that Luke could use Checkpoint to escape ordinary and simple attacks, so just charging recklessly wasn't good enough. Besides, by keeping their formation, they would limit the area in which Luke could run and use Checkpoint. That was the problem of fighting smart opponents. Nevertheless, he knew that something was off with that woman.
"Since she isn't doing anything, I can assume that she really is pulling their strings…" Luke thought.
Despite the danger, Luke charged toward to the enemies. Still, he kept a certain distance from them, just enough to give the elemental spheres the chance to attack. The death knights used weapons to block the attacks, but they could only do so much against spells of that level. They began to suffer a lot of damage in a few instants, and they were also unable to move thanks to that. If they were living beings, Luke could easily jumped into them and finish the job, but a big swing that could shake their entire body could destroy their bones from head to toe. However, Luke had an idea… he charged toward one of the enemies and then used Stinger and Stunning Blow. The strike made the head of the skeleton fly and completely stunned him. Thanks to that, Luke had a full second to prepare a big swing, but Shalia froze in front of the enemy, and Luke finished the job and saved some time.
"This is working, but it will take too much time," Shalia said.
Luke was fully aware of it, but he had no idea what he could do without using tons of mana and exposing himself. The death knights were stronger than him, but since they were just monsters, their strength was limited, and since they were being controlled, they couldn't show their true power and goal all out without regarding the chance of being defeated. He could do the usual, but...
Luke had the special card, as usual, using Weapon Augmentation with his ax. He didn't like that type of weapon, Anyway, but he didn't want to use that one before he got another as powerful as that. Not to mention, he shouldn't show much of his kills to the necromancer who was just watching everything and waiting for Luke to show all his cards into action.
In the end, Luke had a certain idea… the elemental spheres would get in the way a bit, but it was unavoidable. They would help a bit as well, so it was fine. At that point in time, they didn't have to coordinate to work well together, so Luke just used Water Tornado and engulfed several death knights. In the next moment, Shalia used her ice magic and froze several of them since their interiors were completely filled with it… Luke used Stinger to completely shatter into pieces the frozen skeletons. Still, his real target was the necromancer and the crystal behind her. However, the enemy acted fast and summoned the same shadow swords that the death knights used and bombarded Luke with them. He only escaped because he used Checkpoint and moved to another place… Still, Luke clicked his tongue, since he was forced to use too much mana to move and running wasn't the best of ideas.
The shadow swords fell on different spots creating a square, and the area inside it began to crack. It was a gravity trap… instead of just attacking normally out of reflex to protect herself, she had already planned to do that in case Luke attacked her. Nambra said that she was stronger than the other guy who could do a lot more, and she really was for a reason.
"Well, the same trick won't work twice, so I'd better think fast.
The death knights summoned several shadow swords, and some pointed at him, and some others pointed at Nambra; they had no intention of letting him think. So, he decided to not think as well. He charged by using Stinger level seven and knocked down several death knights. By getting so close to them, they changed their aim toward him, and the shadow swords began to hit him in the droves. Luke felt his body getting heavier, even though Shalia blocked several of those with ice walls, but in the end, he ignored all that extra weight and then dropped his ax.. In the next moment, he used Flying Kick and then sent one of the death knights spinning to the nearby wall at a fearsome speed… that trick worked against them.
