Chapter 264 - Unexpected Goal (8)
Luke could make his ax target the fortress, and then he would use Checkpoint to arrive at it, but he couldn't take Danielle with him. Leaving her alone wasn't also an option, so he would leave Rina behind again. The only problem was Nambra… she was strong, so he certainly wouldn't leave her behind and risk the chance of letting her attack his friends.
"You are coming with me," Luke said. "I spared your life, so it is time to make yourself useful. I don't care about your goal, but you will have to pay the debt that you owe me now."
"Yes, master," Nambra said.
"I am not your master, so don't call me that," Luke said.
"Yes, Luke," Nambra said.
Luke didn't know what was worse, being called master or hearing his name like that, which made him feel like they weren't enemies ten minutes ago. Regardless, Luke told Rina and Danielle to help the elves since two armies joining the fray would make things too difficult for them, and even though both of them wanted to protest, they just nodded.
"I can make us fly toward that fortress," Nambra said.
"... Can you make the spell work on me?" Luke asked.
"No, but you can ride on my back," Nambra replied.
Putting aside his male pride, Luke found so many wrong things in letting a woman carry him on his back and with the word ride that he couldn't even begin to count. Still, aside from that, the only option was for Nambra to carry him while holding him by holding him by his arms, which would leave him in a really vulnerable position. He could use Checkpoint on both of them, but it would require a lot more mana…
Nambra wasn't fully recovered yet, so things might become dangerous for her if she tried anything. Just in case, Luke looked at Shalia, and she nodded. She will gladly put an ice lance on her head if Nambra tries anything.
Although the fortress was two kilometers above them, they reached it in the blink of an eye. Nambra also didn't try anything… Nevertheless, thousand thousands of skeletons were on the border of the fortress and ready to join the fray on the ground at any moment. Still, they focused their attention on Luke and Nambra when they arrived. While they weren't half bad, the fact that they were melee fighters made things easier for them. Nambra summoned her spheres, and those began to massacre the skeletons quite fast.

Although Luke was receiving a lot without doing anything, he still picked his bow and began to massacre the skeletons. It was a good idea to decrease the number of pawns under the enemy's control since there was no telling what they might do with them once they were cornered. Not to mention, it was a good opportunity to obtain resources while the enemy lost some of them. Still, things couldn't stay like that forever, and the target was prepared for confrontations. Skeleton archers, skeletons, wizards, and even riders appeared from the numerous buildings around. They quickly began to assume formations like a proper army to deal with the invaders. Considering their levels, it didn't seem like a good idea to be bombarded by hundreds of archers and wizards.
"Luke, my spheres can also boost your statuses. Which parameter do you want to improve?" Nambra asked.
"You must be dreaming as if I would leave you to put your spheres on me again," Luke said and then frowned. "Saying this out loud is so weird…"
"Then I propose another tactic, make a wave across these areas and hit the enemies before they can attack us. I will deal with the rest," Nambra said.
Luke knew a combination of magic even when he was seeing it from several kilometers away. He usually would combo his skills with Shalia, but he decided to focus all the mana available on his side. Thanks to that, he created a tsunami of five meters in height and three hundred meters wide that moved forward and engulfed hundreds of skeletons. As one could expect from water, it barely caused any damage, but then Nambra made two of her spheres disappear and made the green one move forward at fearsome speeds. While the skeletons were trying to assume their positions, the green sphere passed above them, and in a single moment, dozens of lightning bolts fell and then turned the skellies into charcoal. Hundreds of them were obliterated in a few moments. To make sure that she would finish the job, Nambra made several mana potions appear and drank the high-quality ones. It looked like she also had the relic, which grants the users the chance to use the shop whenever they want.
Nevertheless, the skeletons began to hide in the buildings across the fortress after some point. It was clear that their monster realized that she wouldn't have time to use tactics to prepare her army of skeletons to wipe out the invaders, so she decided to open the path. This was weird given that necromancers aren't exactly known for their skills in melee combat.
"I don't have time to hesitate… the only path available is forward," Luke thought while furrowing his eyebrows.
While they were running toward the main building of the fortress, Luke checked the shop for items that would be good against necromancers. Healing and holy magic were the best options against them, but Luke didn't have either. Healing magic and support were unnecessary for him since Rina was always by his side and holy magic seemed pretty advanced.. Eventually, Luke found a wand that would grant him the use of Heal level three, it even could heal based on his total INT, but even so, it only escalated well when it was used for support… not when it was supposed to be used against undead.
