Chapter 16: Controlling Objects

Grand Sky Corps, Hanging Sun Legion, Royal Forest Military…

Lu Qian was stunned by the dazzling sight of all these prestigious armies before her eyes.

It was a pity that their attention was not on Lu Qian, but on a foolish boy she had already decided to give up on.

How could this be?

Reality was cruel. Countless people struggled just for a spot in those armies, yet this fellow had stood out among the masses and made the armies fight over him.

If this had happened earlier, Lu Qian would have treated him a little better. Maybe she would even have asked him to be her boyfriend. If that had happened, Lu Qian would inevitably rise in the Heaven Pass Corporation hierarchy.

She could blame everything on her poor foresight. As she schemed on how to entice Luo Yunyang and fix this awkward situation, she looked around her sadly. No one was even paying any attention to her. They acted as though she didn’t even exist.

Zhu Yan was composed. From what he had seen, it seemed that Luo Yunyang would be able to soar to the sky with one leap.

Gu Qianqian was beaming as she watched. She was happy for her boyfriend, but she also wished Luo Yunyang the best.

Lee Xiaoyong, who had been making arrogant, thoughtless remarks earlier, now looked really grim.

He had originally wanted to act like the fact that Luo Yunyang was being accepted into their army was a big favor.

He had not expected that his plan would fail. Now, he was left hanging. If Ji Tian and the others didn’t bring Luo Yunyang back with them, it wouldn’t be a big deal. Things were different for Lee Xiaoyong, though. Accomplishing this was a matter of life and death for him.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have that much power.

“Everyone’s terms are very generous. I’m really touched. However, I would like to take my time and consider which army to join,” Luo Yunyang said seriously.

“Alright, Little Brother Yunyang. I will be waiting for you at the Royal Forest Military. See you there!” Ji Tian smiled sweetly as she strode away gracefully.

The others laughed as they left. There wasn’t much pressure on them to succeed.

This wasn’t the case for Lee Xiaoyong though, who lingered around instead of leaving. When the chunky guy from the Grand Sky Corps left, he said sincerely, “Student Luo Yunyang, your records are still at the Rising Dragon Army. Join the Rising Dragon Army, and you will receive C-rank elite treatment. Elite martialists receive very good treatment at the Rising Dragon Army.”

“You are a member of the army, Zhu Yan. How can you just look on helplessly as our army is defeated?”

Lee Xiaoyong was behaving like an extremely talkative child that would not stop until it got its way.

Luo Yunyang did not reveal his thoughts, but Zhu Yan replied bluntly, “You hanging around here and being annoying won’t do, Lee Xiaoyong. Luo Yunyang is free to decide which army he wants to join.”

“I know, I know. Feel free to ask for anything you require, Luo Yunyang. As long as I am able to fulfill your wish, I will spare no effort until it’s done.”

“It is getting late and we have a lot of information to digest, Mr. Lee. You should let little Yunyang calm down and sort things out before he makes a decision.” Gu Qianqian then added, “You do know that hasty men don’t get to eat hot tofu. Acting with undue haste does not produce the desired result.”

Gu Qianqian’s words made Lee Xiaoyong go silent.

Letting Luo Yunyang make a choice was very difficult. If he wanted to persuade him, he had to try to think of other ideas.

“If you need anything, don’t hesitate to tell me. I… I will help you, as long as it is within my power. Even if it isn’t, I’ll still do my utmost to help you,” Lee Xiaoyong implored once again before leaving.

After his departure, everything became peaceful again. Gu Qianqian suddenly looked at Luo Yunyang as though she was looking at a monster.

Lu Qian, who had wanted to leave earlier, had confidently sat back down, as if nothing had happened.

“You are a man, indeed, Little Brother Yunyang. I admire you, little fella!” Gu Qianqian punched Luo Yunyang’s arm playfully.

“I think you should grab this opportunity,” Lu Qian added softly.

She only said this to atone for her previous behavior. She felt extremely awkward though, as her suggestion did not receive any reply whatsoever.

Luo Yunyang didn’t so much as look at her. All he did was tell Zhu Yan seriously, “Which army should I choose, Big Brother Zhu?”

“Don’t ask me. I have no idea. Although deep down I hope that you will join the Rising Dragon Army, as a big brother, I think you should choose whichever army offers you the best terms. Every army is more or less the same after all.”

Zhu Yan rubbed his face before breaking into a smile. “Now that these vexing matters have been taken care of, I can go get some rest. The hotel is above, Yunyang. You can do as you please.”

As he said this, he pulled Gu Qianqian along. The two of them walked out together.

“Head on home by yourself, Qing’er. It must be easy to get a taxi here,” Gu Qianqian told Lu Qian after she paid the bill.

Lu Qian smiled back. “Enjoy your date, Sister Qianqian. Don’t worry about me. I will make my way back by myself.”

Gu Qianqian glanced at Luo Yunyang, but ultimately left impatiently with Zhu Yan. As he watched those two behave so intimately, Luo Yunyang could guess that they had some activities planned that were not suitable for children.

“Chang’an is known as the city that never sleeps. Since this is your first time here, let me show you around.” Lu Qian gazed at Luo Yunyang with an expression of eager anticipation.

A city that never slept and a beautiful girl were an attractive combination.

“Thank you, but I’m really tired. I want to get some rest.” Luo Yunyang got up and headed to the upper floor of the Little Prosperity Hotel.

Lu Qian’s expression became ugly. She hesitated for a bit before eventually leaving the hotel.

Luo Yunyang didn’t feel sorry for rejecting her. Lu Qian was a person he couldn’t experience trials and tribulations with. Luo Yunyang wasn’t interested in being more than just friends with her.

Luo Chang might be inferior to her appearance-wise, but… Actually, Luo Chang was only inferior to her clothes-wise, but her heart was a lot kinder.

The hotel room wasn’t big. There was just a bed, a lamp and a table inside.

This was the first time Luo Yunyang was away from home. He opened the windows, looked outside and then took out the communication device Ji Tian had given him.

It resembled an exquisite watch, but when he tapped it, a screen with nine grids of digits appeared.

On the screen was only one contact: Ji Tian.

Should he join the Rising Dragon Army, the Grand Sky Corps, or…

Luo Yunyang hesitated for a moment before pushing this thought aside. Then, he thought about the attack he had performed that day.

He was advancing forward slowly. When he had assimilated the information he had comprehended at the Rising Dragon Army Headquarters into his fist, what he had felt had been some kind of momentum.

His strength had not increased, but his destructive force had been amplified.

This sort of enlightenment was very important, yet if Luo Yunyang tried to do it again, he would be unable to. As he muttered to himself, he got into a standing stance.

He hadn’t cultivated at all that day and he wasn’t able to practise the Ape-Dragon Blueprint inside the hotel, so all he could do was hold this stance.

As Luo Yunyang silently held this standard standing posture, he felt the muscles in his body contract slowly.

15 minutes, 30 minutes, one hour…

The buzzing sound of a mosquito roused Luo Yunyang, who had been absorbed in the cultivation process. He realized that over 10 mosquitos had appeared in his room.

He had used his Mind Power to kill a mosquito in the past, so now that his Mind Attribute had increased considerably, killing them had to be a piece of cake.

Luo Yunyang maintained this stance as he opened his attribute regulator quickly and raised his Mind Attribute to 9.0.

The instant he made this adjustment, his surroundings became very distinct. Luo Yunyang could see over 10 mosquitoes and about eight cockroaches in the room.

These fellows were the true inhabitants of the room.

The mosquitos had been buzzing around him in the air, but as soon as Luo Yunyang used his Mind, they were suddenly confined to a tiny area.

Should he exterminate them?

As he considered it, Luo Yunyang suddenly decided to bring the mosquitos closer.

“Come here!”

As soon as he thought of this, the 10 mosquitos flew up to him without any resistance.

They were all flapping their wings, but no matter how much effort they made, they weren’t able to escape Luo Yunyang’s binds.

He could control them completely!

Luo Yunyang felt pleased as he watched their flapping wings move. As he muttered to himself, a light pressure seemed to make all the mosquitoes disintegrate in an instant.

If he could control mosquitoes, then what about cockroaches?

In a flash, he noticed a cockroach that was about to jump on his bed. Luo Yunyang willed it to stop. Suddenly, the cockroach appeared to stand still in mid-air.

Even though cockroaches were much bigger than mosquitos, when Luo Yunyang thought about moving it over, he found that it wasn’t too difficult.

All he had to do was think about it and the cockroach moved quickly in his direction.

As he watched it struggle for its life under his control, Luo Yunyang felt that this wasn’t challenging. He used his mind to send the cockroach next door through the window.

The neighbors were too loud! They shouldn’t be making so much noise so late at night.

Could perhaps this Mind Power be used to capture his enemies?

Luo Yunyang, who felt excited at the thought, concentrated his Mind Power on a stool not too far away and tried to move it.

Crash! The metal stool, which weighed about five kilos, levitated about half a meter from the floor before it came crashing down.

Luo Yunyang, who had been exercising control over the stool, suddenly felt his skull buzzing as a wave of exhaustion swept through his mind.

The stool was too heavy!

Controlling humans would be impossible.

If he wasn’t able to exercise control over people, but was able to control objects that weighed up to eight kilos, then would he perhaps be able to control things that could hurt others, such as a dagger or a needle?

Luo Yunyang was eager to test this theory. There were a lot of nails in that shabby hotel. After resting for half an hour, he concentrated his Mind Power on a nail and send it flying towards the wall.

Pop!

The nail got stuck in the wall!
