"Boy! Here's the medicinal plant you're asking for," the farm manager said as he delivered the things Qin Lan asked for. Surprisingly, the Bittersweet Flower and Blood Replenishing Pellets were packed individually in their own box. This was considered quite a gesture if it was given to a fellow Pill Refiner.
'It seems that some master from the Medicinal Pavilion has me in their eyes. If that was not the case, these herbs and pills wouldn't be coming to me in this way...' Qin Lan shook his head while looking at the two medicine boxes.
Opening the box to check the content, Qin Lan followed up with his treatment by feeding a Blood Replenishing Pellet into his patient's mouth. His hand turned into a claw-form and grabbed a few parts on the throat to force him to swallow that medicinal pill.
"Hah!" the village chief's son exhaled a mouthful of nasty breath after swallowing the pill. And the medicine seems to show its effect swiftly minutes after consumption. The cut on the wrist now has a layer of scab around it.
Even the bleeding has stopped.
The color also slowly returned to his face as the medicinal effect started to runs throughout his body. This was a hint that blood was getting produced to replace what he had lost earlier.
"Village chief, please take care of your child for now," said Qin Lan. He would like to take it easy, but with so many people gathered around the next bed waiting for him, he couldn't help but pity them.
"I will now treat those with the injuries caused by the Plague Worm. Can you show me to a place with a stove, please? If any of you here have a medicinal cauldron, it would be much better." Qin Lan said.
Although he seemed professional, the amount of Pure Spiritual Energy he had was limited. He could prepare two portions of the ointment at most for the disciples to eliminate the issue from Plague Worm's venomous bite.
The disciple's method of using Ice Lizard Saliva Grass wasn't wrong. But it was a waste to use a precious medicinal plant in that way. Since the healing salve made by Qin Lan would be enough to do the job, why would he let them waste a precious material like this?
But to bring a medicinal cauldron out of nowhere is indeed a problematic request for them. It would be easy to start a bonfire and make a temporary cooking station for Qin Lan, but that itself would have some of its own share of problems.
Furthermore, if one of them were a Pill Refiner and physician, why do they still need to go around trying to solve their problem?
While the disciples scratching their heads at what they could do, someone came to the house and left a medicinal cauldron on the table. The size of the pot was just about an adult's head, and it came with one fire inlet.
The person also left a few pebble-sized charcoals for him to use.
Some disciples recognized who this stranger was. But their attention soon returned to Qin Lan as they hoped that he could do something to lessen their pain.
The Plague Worm was just a worthless Spiritual Beast that did not even have more than three drops of Pure Spiritual Energy within its frail body. But because it was poisonous, this made the Plague Worm a threat that only those with the first stage of Flesh Refining Realm could handle.
Crawling on the ground as they move, this one-meter-long Spiritual Beast is often found around wet locations, such as on the trees near water or inside the swamp itself. While the Plague worm itself was not an aggressive Spiritual Beast, it would retaliate like mad if attacked.
The disciples that were affected were likely those underestimating their opponent's strength. Although the Plague Worm doesn't bite, they had short, protruding manes with plenty of poisonous fluids excreted through the pores.
The poison lacked the kick that could kill, but it was still problematic on its own. Once poisoned, the part of injury will slowly get worst, with hives growing first. It was then followed by itchiness and pain akin to an ant's bite all over while the wound started to rot.
Although the symptom usually would go after a week or two, the wounded surface would remain for eternity.
After getting the pieces of charcoal aflame, Qin Lan steadily placed the burning charcoal below the medicinal cauldron. While waiting for the flame to prepare the pot, Qin Lan grinds the Sweet Dragon Grass and Blood Mandrake together.
The two medicine ended up creating a thick concoction after they were mixed. When the medicinal cauldron reached the temperature Qin Lan was waiting for, he immediately transferred the concoction into the pot.
This step was known as cooking. The mixture soon turned into a decoction where all the water content had been removed. The powder left inside the cauldron was then scooped up and mixed with charcoal ash before adding some water.
The process made the watery concoction thicker than before.
Then, Qin Lan applied the paste-like healing ointment on the disciple who offered his Ice Lizard Saliva Grass to him. A hint of cool sensation came to him as he looked more comfortable than before.
The remaining portion of the healing salve was wrapped in a xuan-paper for his second application later.
"This brother, thank you!" the disciple cupped his hands together and gave Qin Lan a proper and respectful bow. The news about his situation is getting better was spread across the outer sect, making everyone curious about this young physician.
The sudden fame made Qin Lan stay here in the Iron Flesh Sect for the next two days. It also gave him a new impression on this sect from looking at how the disciples treated one another.
During these two days, all Qin Lan did was diagnosing some patients and preparing medicine for those that needed it. In return, he earned some Iron Body Pills from doing them a favor.
Until...
The disciple that confiscated the Detoxification Fruit from the village chief came to cause trouble.
