Chapter 12: The Soul Of The Black Armored Army

Chapter 12: The Soul Of The Black Armored Army

The undead creatures, dense and numerous, surrounded the small squad of the Black Armored Army. The eerily glowing light in the eyes of the charging skeletons, the decaying flesh seemingly stuck to the zombies, all attacked their nerves.

Kill! A bulky man roared, his bulging muscles expanding as he swung his thick broadsword, slicing the front two zombies in half with a cold gleam flashing across his eyes.

Kill! Kill! Kill! The remaining nine Black Armored soldiers followed suit with loud shouts, hacking down the undead creatures that lunged at them.

The bones of skeletons when scattered, the decaying flesh and corpse fluid on zombies, splattered all over the faces of the ten soldiers as they fought.

Even though the Black Armored soldiers were fully equipped, their faces and hands were exposed. These disgusting and poisonous things not only corroded their armor with a sizzling sound but also instantly melted their flesh, causing their skin to split open.

However, not a single Black Armored soldier screamed in pain, their only response was even more ruthless killing.

But humans are not machines. Over time, exhaustion creeps in and mistakes are made.

At this point, the speed of one of the Black Armored soldiers sword slowed down slightly, and his arm was grabbed by a zombie in front of him who yanked it with force.

The soldier screamed in agony as his arm was torn off his body, but he did not collapse. Instead, he kicked the zombies head and crushed it to pieces, and then stabbed the eye socket of another skeleton with his remaining hand, despite a bone spear embedded in his chest.

The red light in the skeletons eye socket dissipated, and the soldier was torn to pieces by the other surging undead creatures.

Xiaofei! The other nine soldiers cried out in unison.

Everyone, stay where you are and fight these damn undead! The captain, a man with a large build and a ferocious aura, roared in anger. He knew that Xiaofei could have retreated into the protective circle, but he chose to fight to the death because he knew that losing his combat effectiveness would drag down the entire team. Now he knew that they were probably trapped by these swarming undead creatures and would not be able to return, nor would they be able to wait for reinforcements fifty miles away.

Die! Iron Head swung his sword at a zombies neck, but the neck was as hard as steel, and the blade only went halfway before getting stuck.

The zombie had a green mark on its forehead, clearly a mid-level undead. It let out several snarls and plunged its iron claws straight into Iron Heads heart with great speed.

Iron Heads pupils contracted, but he could not retreat. If he did, the formation would be broken and the entire team would be wiped out rapidly.

At that moment, a soldier beside Iron Head stepped forward and stood in front of him. In the split second that the zombies claws burst through his heart, the soldier delivered a heavy punch to the back of the sword that was stuck in the zombies neck.

The zombies head rolled off after being separated from its shoulders, but the Black Armored soldier stayed where he was, motionless.

Barbarian, ah Iron Head went completely berserk witnessing the sacrifice of his comrade, ignoring a bone sword that was swung towards his head by a skeleton, he smashed its hard skull with a blow.

With a clang sound, Iron Heads helmet was split in half, but the bone sword only left a shallow mark on his bald head.

Iron Head was in a frenzy, only focused on killing, ignoring the undeads attacks.

Iron Head, snap out of it! The large man who was the Captain pulled Iron Head back from the attack of several undead, but he himself suffered a few more wounds.

Captain, I want revenge, I want to destroy these damn undead! Iron Head roared hysterically.

Shut up, even if we fight to the last two people, we must maintain the formation. Only by killing more undead is it worth it. If you die, what revenge can you get? Just fill the gap for me! The captain shouted.

Iron Head woke up from his frenzy and remained silent, only glaring fiercely and swinging his sword.

Iron Head had only been with the Black Armored Army for a month and had followed this battalion to the Undead Mountains Range to take over another battalion that left just ten days ago. He used to be an elite soldier in another legion and was selected into the Black Armored Army through multiple rounds of selection.

He had always thought that the reason why the Black Armored Army stood at the top was because of the high individual combat strength, but now he knew how wrong he was. The Black Armored Armys reputation was not only due to the strength of its individual soldiers but also because of their teamwork and willingness to die for their comrades.

His teammate, the one called Barbarian, was not someone he got along with on a regular basis, but just now, he stood in front of him and died for him.

Of the ten Black Armored soldiers, half had already died, leaving only five of them like tiny rocks in the waves. Even if they knew they would be crushed, they would not retreat.

All five remaining soldiers were injured, with the corpse poison spreading throughout their bodies. Even if they were not torn apart by the undead, they would die from the poison.

Flame Slash! The captain roared and swung his sword, which emitted a flame that cut the waist of five undead in front of him. However, he seemed to be out of breath and stood there motionless, with several more undead creatures rushing toward him.

Captain! Iron Head rushed over and stood in front of the captain. He was finally going to die gloriously for his teammates.

Just then, a golden light flashed and more than ten undead in front of Iron Head were split apart.

A young man wearing a womans robe appeared like a ghost, waving a black sword entwined with layers of golden battle qi, opening a gap in the undead group.

What are you waiting for, run! Qi Bei shouted loudly.

The five surviving Black Armored soldiers helped each other and ran out of the undead encirclement, while Qi Bei stayed behind to cover their escape.

The five soldiers stumbled and ran for two or three miles before stopping to take out the antidote they had prepared in advance. As long as they could temporarily suppress the corpse poison, they could survive.

Captain, who was that expert? one of the soldiers asked the big man who was lost in thought.

I dont know if I was seeing things, but he looked a lot like the leaders younger brother, Qi Bei Nord. The captain said, shaking his head as he realized how unrealistic it sounded.

Thats impossible. The leaders younger brother is weak and powerless. How could he be so mighty? Iron Head said.

Then maybe I was seeing things. The captain didnt say more.

Our poor five brothers. We cant even find their bodies now Iron Heads voice was low, and there were tears in his eyes.

The others fell silent, and after a while, the captain spoke again: Ever since we joined the army, we have been prepared to die in battle. Its our honor to be die fighting side alongside each other.

Captain, the expert who saved us is coming.

The big man looked over and saw Qi Bei running over with a bundle of things on his back, including five sets of armor and the remains of the fallen soldiers.

This is all I could find. They were all good men, and I admire them. All I can do is this. Qi Bei sighed and gently placed these things on the ground.
