Chapter 80 Guild Members
80 Guild Members
"We are ready!"
The trio conjured their barriers one over another, ready to take on Erix's attacks.
Erix pointed his Amberros Death Cannon at them and unleashed a single shot of maximum output, consuming 600 Undead Energy! n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
A sharp, air-cutting sound echoed as the black orb with chaotic dark green and dark orange patterns on it hit the first defense, a shield.
It was a shining, towering, bronze magical shield. The cannonball pierced it with a blast before hitting the second defense, a dark blue crystal barrier.
The cannonball blasted there properly, spreading a burst of dark green smoke and flamy orange shards that quickly eroded and destroyed the barrier before continuing towards the third defense, which was another barrier.
A shining half-transparent golden barrier of Light-Element.
The orange shards blasted, but the barrier endured it with minor cracks. However, the dark green smoke that assaulted it readily eroded the barrier.
The dark green smoke was considerably reduced, but whatever was left of it assaulted the couple and the girl as their HP reduced.
"Hmm? Hey, isn't it painful?" Erix confusedly asked. "You can turn off the pain in a duel," the girl said as she rolled her eyes. "There's no way we would be able to continuously duel with others if we experienced constant pain and death in every duel."
Erix focused and thought in his mind about it and got a quick monotone response.
[Do you want to turn off the pain experience while in the duel?]
'No.'
Erix replied. He didn't plan to turn off pain because he felt he would improve more if he got real valuable experience of experiencing skills' effect.
"Alright, you three can go down," Erix said with a bored expression. 'They don't even fully know about their own barrier skills. Am I expecting too much, or is everyone here like them?'
Fortunately, Erix would be glad to know he was wrong soon.
…
The battles were fought twenty meters in the sky, so none of the people below could see their fights, which meant no one could see their skills and moves. This was why other guilds also had their test and combat platforms in the sky, and Erix also followed the pattern for the same reason.
Of course, Kenshin and Sameira sat on a floating earth sofa facing the platform at forty-five degrees to watch the show.
Seconds turned into minutes and minutes into hours as five hours quickly passed by.
Erix, Rin, and Isabella fought against many teams. Out of the many fights, Erix lost against one team again, Rin also lost against one team, and Isabella lost against two teams. Isabella could do better if she could fly and increase her movement, but she didn't have any method of flying like Erix and Rin yet.
And although they lost, they also learned many new things and improved themselves significantly in terms of their combat ability with their current arsenal of skills.
Moreover, the new rule Erix added was that the opponent team who won 1v3 would fight 3v3 against Erix, Rin, and Isabella. Erix did that to know the complete gap between the two teams, but he was surprised that one team still did very well despite losing 3v3. This was the team that defeated Rin. After another hour passed and they fought with everyone, even those who came later, Erix announced that the recruitment was over.
He needed seven more people, but he only chose two teams with three people in each. Everyone in these two teams was in Supra-order and had satisfactory classes, most likely the limited-task ones.
One team consisted of red-haired twins in their early twenties, Roy and Tony. The third member was called Samuel--a middle-aged man with a dark skin tone, short black hair, and a beard.
This team readily agreed as Erix gave the invitation to join the guild, but the other team didn't agree directly. This team was also the one that fought well, even in 3v3. "We have a condition to join! Our original group was made of four people, but since we were only allowed to fight in a team of three, we had no choice but to leave out someone. So, if you want us, you have to add the fourth member of our group to your guild," Leon shouted. He was a lean middle-aged man with short silver hair and a chiseled face, wearing a dark red ranger armor set with boots and gloves.
Behind him was a girl in her late teens with matching silver hair as Leon; she was his daughter, Zoe. Standing beside her was a middle-aged man in a tuxedo suit, Alfred. And the fourth member Leon referred was standing behind the trio—Elena, a girl in her mid-twenties with a long brown-haired ponytail and her eyes covered by a plain cotton white blindfold. She wore a combat robe with matching gloves and boots, indicating that it was an armor set.
'Blind? If she is injured, Isabella can heal her,' Erix thought. 'Alright, she shouldn't be useless or weak if this team kept her with them.'
"Welcome to Unfettered Fate."
Leon and others saw a small screen with a guild invitation, and they readily accepted it.
…
Kenshin and Sameira shortly left while Erix, Rin, Isabella, and new guild members entered the mansion as they sat on three different sofas in the living hall with a fireplace before they began the proper introduction.

Kenshin and Sameira shortly left while Erix, Rin, Isabella, and new guild members entered the mansion as they sat on three different sofas in the living hall with a fireplace before they began the proper introduction.
Leon, Zoe, and Alfred were a family. The father-daughter came here with their butler on tour far from their home in Northstar continent but were stuck here because of calamity and met Elena, who helped them. Roy and Tony were twin brothers who lost their parents five years ago and lived with Samuel, their father's friend. Samuel had some deep background that the brothers didn't know and didn't try to find despite the obvious signs because all they knew was that Samuel was their father who cared for them in difficult times, which was enough for them to know about him.
"I heard there's a magic kitchen in Libration Throne guild that can produce new ingredients every day. Do you have it yet, guild master?" Roy asked one of the red-haired twins. "Yeah, I want to eat something decent, no kidding," Tony rubbed his stomach. "Pops can also cook superb dishes, so we just need ingredients."
Samuel wryly smiled. 'These brats.'
"Not yet," Erix casually said as he leaned back on the sofa and looked at the time on the wall clock. "But we'll get new model structures since we unlocked a new mode in Structure-type dungeon. There are two modes now, Residency-mode and Utility-mode."
"You'll know once you go to the dungeon gate tomorrow and touch it," Rin said before she turned to Elena, "Elena, if your eyes are injured, Isabella-sis can completely recover them."
"Ah, no," Elena shook her head before smiling. "My eyes can't be healed because I see the world differently now. It's a bit difficult, but I am getting used to it. The colors are gradually filling it as I understand these waves."
"Elena's class awakening made her blind," Zoe said with a rueful smile. "Her class is called Six-Eyes Monk. She just awakened it yesterday after finishing her final time-limited task of killing a supra-order demon and absorbing its core."
"She is powerful, so worry not," Leon said with a faint smile.
Erix nodded and looked at the guild interface before him. "We'll rest for an hour and then depart to complete the guild tasks. We have to finish them before the next day starts."
"Generate your tasks if you haven't."
Everyone had two individual guild tasks, one about killing supra-order monsters, and another was to clear a Field Dungeon or a Dungeon as a team. "We have heard that you can get guild points if members of the same guild complete some random events together," Samuel said as he rubbed his chin. "So, if we encounter any event, let's group up to finish it."
"Alright."
…
An hour later, everyone departed towards the city and divided upon entering.
The night of Phoenix City was still not dark despite electricity disappearing from the world.
It was one of the biggest cities in the world and the 10th most populated city, so survivors were increasing in sight, and many had started living in the city. The people who survived in nearby cities and areas were also arriving each day since the Labyrinth Tower was here.
Zombies were no threat to people anymore, and monsters could be vanquished by working together since people were getting stronger.
A field dungeon would suddenly manifest at a random area in the city, just like the one that Erix, Rin, and Isabella encountered with the Toshin family at a mall in Targon City, but it wouldn't manifest where people lived, so that was safe.
Naturally, the field dungeon here was larger and more challenging, and just like that Helix Flower field dungeon, once someone cleared it and got the reward, it would disappear.
"Let's get some blood pouches from the blood bank and then complete the guild tasks."
