Chapter 63 Ben Melkan's Fate, Closure
63 Ben Melkan's Fate, Closure
After the trio rested for an hour to nap, they freshened up and went to the military ground to look around and....meet some people. Since they were departing soon, Erix wanted to finish a necessary goal of his life.
"Mum, can we go to that other place to eat breakfast?" Aaron said with a puppy face.
"We'll get you delicious breakfast if you can wait. But if you are hungry now, let's eat bread and jam, okay?" Isabella patted his head.
"Okay. I will eat some bread and jam."
"You go take him to eat. We'll go check a few things," Erix said.
As such, Erix and Rin arrived at the open ground. They also saw Ronaldo and Barkha with their group, and seeing Erix and Rin, they approached them.
"Hi, I am Kaflan. Heard much about you two here," Kafla stretched his hand with a grin as he nodded at Erix and Rin. "Pleasure to finally meet you."
Erix shook his hand with a faint smile. "Erix."
"Rin."
"By the way, your eyes…" Ronaldo squinted his eyes. "Something happened?"
Erix no longer wore his mask, so people could see his pale face and striking black-red eyes.
Erix shrugged.
"A zombie bit me, but I managed to stay sane and became a Hybrid Zombie."
"W-what?!"
Everyone was dumbfounded and in disbelief upon hearing that, but the proof was right before them, so they had no choice but to digest this miracle.
They talked about a few things and shared some information before Kaflan took out an item that looked like a talisman.
"We got this item if you want, but only in exchange for a long-range weapon. It's fine, even if it's common."
Erix and Rin looked at the talisman and saw that it was similar to the one they got, with the ability to deal flat damage in a large area.
They also never had the chance to use it and no longer needed it since they became stronger.
"Unfortunately, we don't have any extra long-ranged weapons," Erix said before he took out the same Fire Talisman from his inventory. "You can take this for free if you want."
Kaflan wryly smiled. "Well, I'll give it to some folks here so they can use it in an emergency since it's also useless to us."
"Haha, Mr. Kaflan! How are you doing?"
Erix's eyes twitched upon hearing the familiar voice, and he turned to left as he saw Ben, General Tark, and Bertha approaching them.
"Y-You…Erix?!"
"Ben...Melkan," Erix unhurriedly spoke as a dark grin loosened on his face. "What? You thought I 15:12
wouldn't survive?"
When Ben saw Erix, his eyes almost popped out of his socket, while Bertha had even stopped walking and just stood there stunned.
"Ben...Melkan," Erix unhurriedly spoke as a dark grin loosened on his face. "What? You thought I wouldn't survive?"
"Erix, he is your father. You shouldn't talk to him like that," Bertha snapped out of her dazed and spoke somberly.
"Bitch, if you speak one more word, I will make you run around naked here before killing you," Erix coldly uttered as pressuring aura oozed out of him.
His deadbeat father left him and his mother for this woman because of her background, which could help him in his political career.
So, her speaking like that, as if she was teaching him, popped a vein in his head.
He honestly had no qualms about killing them here, but he wanted to give them a lasting death.
"Young man, you can't be overbearing just because you got strength. If you lose your humanity, you eventually will become a mere monster for others to hunt," General Tark said with narrowed eyes.
"Erix, are these people being real?" Rin was speechless.
"Real," Erix crackled with a nod. "A bunch of real braindead idiots."
He turned to Kaflan and calmly asked, "Do you want to interfere in this matter?"
Kaflan grinned and raised his arms. "We'll meet at Phoenix City. See you there."
"Let's go, yarodomo!"
"Yes, boss!"
Ronaldo looked at Erix and Rin and waved his hand while beaming. "Let's spar if we get a chance in the future."
Kaflan and his group went towards the dungeon gate before Kaflan, Ronaldo, Berkha, and a slim man with dark green hair entered. The remaining five stood outside.
"It seems that those four already created their magic core," Rin raised her eyebrows.
Erix nodded before he turned to Ben.
Since Kaflan washed his hands off the matter, Ben, General Tark, and Bertha became visibly nervous and fearful as sweat beads formed on their forehead.
"E-Erix… I know it's my fault, but I had no other choice," Ben said with his lips trembling and eyes turning watery as a tired and guilty expression appeared on his face.
"No other choice?" Erix laughed loudly and approached Ben, standing just half a meter away from him.
"You fucking choose that choice! You cut off all connection with us so that none could know about your affair and a woman...." Grinning his teeth, Erix couldn't hold back as he roared, "SHE WAITED FOR YOU UNTIL HER LAST BREATH! SHE SPOKE YOUR FUCKING NAME BEFORE DYING!"
Erix's already red eyes glowered ragingly.
Rin's eyes turned teary seeing Erix like that, and anger also bubbled in her as she clenched her fists.
Erix calmed down with a breath and took a close look at Ben.
If not for this calamity, he wouldn't even be able to get anywhere close to this Senator Ben Melkan!
But now….
"Haha…" Erix laughed, looking a bit insane and twisted. He put his hand on Ben's shoulder and grinned. "Don't worry. I will not kill you, even though I want to pierce this hand into your heart and feed you to dogs."
Ben trembled as intense fear overtook him. He knew that he was the prey before Erix.
"Hey, trash," Rin turned to General Tark. "If you don't want to get involved, then get the fuck away from here."
General Tark didn't even peep and quietly left, feeling a huge relief and cursing internally.
'Damn this world!'
"W-What do you want, Erix…" Ben stuttered in fear and nervousness. "I...I-I know I was in the wrong."
"Zip it," Erix coldly uttered. He removed his Black Fang gloves before digging his fingernails into Ben's flesh.
"Urghh…W-What are you d-d-doing, Erix?" Ben struggled to escape but couldn't budge Erix's hand even slightly.
"Nothing. I am just putting you where you belong in this world," Erix said, his smile hollow and dark. "This is my choice."
Afterward, he turned to Bertha and grabbed her neck.
"Brother Erix!"
Suddenly, he heard a shout from a familiar voice and turned his head in the direction of the gate.
The siblings, Hathor and Marisa, rushed towards them. Although they were shocked to see Erix turning so pale and his black-red eyes, the situation begged for a different reaction from them.
"Big brother Erix, so you were here from the start. W-what are you doing to my mom?" Hathor bit his lips as he grabbed the corners of his flamy robe in nervousness, not knowing what to do.
"Erix, stop! You'll kill her!" Marisa went to grab Erix's hand, but Rin punched her stomach lightly, causing her to almost puke before she fell to her knees and started gasping for air.
"Hathor," Erix narrowed his eyes. "Your father and mother will die, but I have no grudge against you two."
Turning his head back to Bertha, he tightened his grip on her neck as his nails dug into her throat. "You are free to come after me and take revenge later because the current you can't do anything to me."
"I will give you that choice to have revenge, just like I am taking mine. But know that your fate will be worse if you do that."
After he finished speaking, he let off his grip as Bertha started screaming in pain and agony.
On the other hand, Ben was already acting insane as his eyes and body language became unstable.
"W-What did you do to us?"
Erix ignored him and turned back to Hathor with a deadpan smile. "I lost my mother at ten, but you are better off than me. Surely, you can choose a better choice than your parents."
*Grrr*
Ben's consciousness was slipping away as he had already started turning insane.
"Your parents will become zombies, so good luck with that. Let's go, Rin."
Erix felt some exhilaration and libration after he punished those two in his court, in his way. He did that because he could and felt he should for what they did to his mother and him.
The world was lawless for those at the top even when there were laws, but now, the privilege of being lawless belonged to everyone at the expense of no protection from the laws. To survive, one must rely on oneself and those they trust.
"There are two zombies in the base! Right here!" Rin boomingly shouted, her voice reverberating everywhere in the military base and attracting everyone, even those who were outside.
"Now, we can go," she said before grabbing Erix's hand with a smile.
…
Somewhere in the city, inside a mall's ground floor.
"Damn it, damn it, damn it…What do I do?" Felix muttered in a low voice as he looked at the sleeping mutated mastiff dog with two horns.
Blood was all around it, and the floor was littered with bones and limbs of humans and animals.
"I should be able to kill it, but what if I can't…"
*Klech…*
Hearing something that soon turned into light footsteps, Felix quickly turned around and saw someone familiar.
"Do you want some help, Felix?"
The one that stood before him was none other than Kanel—the Desperate Dog.
