Chapter 26: ...They Shape, Make, and Destroy Your Life
"Treasure chests!"
One of them shouted upon seeing four treasure chests!
Everyone in that large group of twenty-six people glanced back.
"Everyone, jump above this vine fence!"
A man in a military uniform shouted. He was one of the people who came to recruit Erix, Rin, and Isabella.
After that shout, people jumped above the border of the vine fence while some people at the front killed and pushed the zombies away.
Soon, they also jumped over after making some space.
In this group of twenty-six people were sixteen civilians and ten soldiers.
Toshin was happy seeing military soldiers. 'With those many people, we can safely reach the military base.'
However, Erix and Rin frowned because one of them shouted treasure chests!
"Soldiers, did that fatty General Tark send you? I called him for rescue, and he said he would send people," Toshin quickly spoke.
"Yes, sir. That's why we moved this way in our expedition to get strong," Lieutenant Ralph said with a smile.
"That Jeep looks brand new. Is it working? Wait…how did you drive it within this vine fence?" asked one of the powerful civilians with a spikey baseball bat as his weapon.
The border of the vine fence was roughly three meters tall. Erix and others didn't need to climb it since they automatically entered that mysterious space when they came into contact with the mist surrounding that border.
"If you have extra skills and weapons, please share with us, hahaha. I mean, you have plenty right now. Four treasure chests and three black orbs," another civilian said. He wore a tank top on his muscular body and had a big cleave in his hand.
Hearing him, Lena's face turned dark as she spoke in a severe tone, "These things are what we earned with hard work and losing six people, including my son! If you move closer to us before we distribute them, expect at least five of you to die with me."
"Stop it, you all."
Lieutenant Ralph turned around to look at the group with a frown as he continued, "We came out to kill these zombies and beasts to get strong, not to loot other people!"
"Tsk…"
'Three of them are above level 20, thirteen are above level 10, while the rest are below level 10…' Erix could see their levels but not other things. However, his gaze was watching them, and he ordered the Bloodwood Eagle to fly up.
"Relax, we won't approach you until you distribute those rewards," Lieutenant Ralph said as he turned back to Erix's group.
"Now, now, Mr. Liutenent. You are not our leader," the man with a spikey bat said as he walked forward and stood beside Lieutenant Ralph.
"Galdot…" Lieutenant Ralph's face turned dark as he looked at the man beside him.
"Come on, man. I know you are also greedy for those treasure chests and those three black orbs," Galdot said as he licked his lips while looking at the front.
"Nobody will know what happened here," another man said as he stood at the other side of Lieutenant Ralph.
"Arlo?" Lieutenant Ralph was shocked to see Arlo siding with Galdot.
Arlo was a soldier; Among the soldiers, he was the highest-leveled one, at level 18.
On the other hand, Galdot was overall the highest level in the group, at level 24.
Five group members walked out and stood beside Galdot; they had been Galdot's companions since this apocalypse started.
The two women and four men in Galdot's group were relatively high-level. Three were above level 20; the others were level 18, level 17, and level 19.
They sided with Galdot on the decision to loot the treasure chest.
The other ten civilians consisting of middle-aged men, women, and young adults, revealed hesitant expressions. Seven of them were below level 10, while three of them were between level 10 to 15.
"You should know who is more powerful among us. You wouldn't have survived without our group, humph," said Tanila as she snorted at the civilians and soldiers. She was one of the two women in Galdot's group.
"You all, if you don't want to die, then leave those things on the ground and get out," Galdot said with a nasty grin as he looked at Rin and the others.
"You all…" Lieutenant Ralph was in disbelief. 'T-This is not a good idea.'
"Sorry, sir. We have to side with Galdot on this one."
"Senior Ralph… I am sorry."
The rest of the soldiers also sided with Galdot! All of them became greedy and wanted those rewards to get strong.
'Hehe, a bunch of idiots…' Galdot internally sneered.
"W-What is going on? You can't be serious, right?!" Toshin shouted with anger.
"Lieutenant Ralph, if you want to side with them, then get out."
"And you all get out of this border vine fence in ten seconds, or we will attack you," said a man from Galdot's group.
"I-I have no choice, Mr. Toshin," Ralph stammered as his expression turned downcast. He sighed heavily before taking a step back.
"Are you done?" Rin questioned with a cold, indifferent expression.
The bodyguards, Serina and Lena, also prepared for combat.
At the same time, Erix already sat in the shopping trolley's handle part after Rin stuffed a square rock in it from the broken fountain's structure so that he could sit adequately, while his only leg was in the space where people put items.
"Haha, you want to fight us? Twenty-six against you nine?" Galdot scoffed as he crossed his arms.
"I am giving you the last chance. Use some brain and make an intelligent choice, hahaha. Instead of throwing your lives, get out in the next ten seconds."
"Giving us a chance?" Rin replied with a mocking expression as she unsheathed her sword.
"Leave it, Rin. They made their choice. "
Erix slowly flew up on the trolley while shaking his head.
"Choices are important. They shape, make, and destroy your Life." Erix's deep tone reverberated as he floated in the air. "Unfortunately for you all, the choice you made today will destroy your Life."
*Swoosh!*
