Chapter 12: Mother’s Unbounded Love
Chapter 12: Mother's Unbounded Love
"Someone is alive?" Erix was surprised to hear the voice and saw a little boy.
He moved towards the house.
After entering, he saw that the little boy was hiding inside the basement and had come out just now, probably because of the demon's painful screaming, battle sound, and their voices.
"Are you alone?" Erix asked as he looked at the little boy around five years old.
"No. My mum is in the basement. S-She is sleeping. Please help," the boy said, still slightly scared and nervous because Erix had a dark mask covering his face.
"Sleeping?" Erix frowned.
Rin also came inside after putting the treasure chest inside her inventory. "What's the matter?"
"Let's go check the basement. The kid says his mother is sleeping," Erix said as he glanced at Rin. His voice was slightly heavy.
The little boy went inside the basement first before Erix and Rin followed. The basement was twice the size of the room.
After they went down, they saw a light purple haired woman leaning against a wall with her eyes closed.
There was a wound on her arm, a deep bite mark.
Rin quickly went beside her and checked her breathing. After two seconds, she turned to Erix and shook her head.
"Please, wake my mum," the kid said tremblingly. He was barely suppressing his tears.
"Her body... It seems that she just passed away a few minutes ago while fainting. But how?" Rin questioned as she checked other wounds. Aside from that bite mark, there was no other deep wound.
If she was bitten, then she should have turned into a zombie. But she was dead!
"Boy. Did someone bite your mum?" Erix asked as he looked at the boy.
"Y-Yes… but that auntie was not behaving normally."
"She didn't turn into a zombie. How?" Rin questioned in astonishment. She had seen people turning into zombies after getting scratched and bitten.
"Well, this is not like some virus we see in movies or series. This is something different. Some kind of magical power, maybe?" Erix said, adopting a thoughtful expression.
"Dead people come out of the ground as zombies. People also turn into zombies after getting scratched and bitten, but the rules here seem different."
"Yes," Rin nodded as she opened the woman's mouth, immediately causing blood to pour out.
"Mum!"
"W-What happened to my mum? Why doesn't she wake up?"
Erix didn't know what to say to the little kid.
Her tongue was cut with bite marks... The woman bit her tongue and bled to death to save her son from herself!
Rin's eyes trembled as she arrived at that conclusion.
She knew that if people were bitten or scratched by zombies while alive, they would automatically turn into zombies in minutes.
But she didn't know what would happen if they died as a human before turning into a zombie.
"M-Mama!"
The young boy quickly hugged his mother, crying and telling her to wake up.
*Swoosh!*
Suddenly, they saw the woman's body glowing with golden motes!
"Mum!" The boy shouted as he burst out crying even more after seeing this magical anomaly.
"Stand back," Erix quickly took back the crying boy and looked at the woman. Rin also backed away.
However, they were startled to see the blood in her mouth magically disappearing. Even the blood on her chest that dripped from her mouth vanished without a trace!
Her clothes also recovered, and her light purple hair became refined, shiny, and silky!
The wound on her wrist was also healed, and she slowly opened her light blue eyes after a few seconds.
The magical phenomenon thoroughly cleaned and recovered her as her cheeks became rosy, and not a single scratch on her body remained.
…
Ten minutes ago, in the basement…
"Aaron. Listen to Mama. Stay here and don't move, okay?" Isabella said, trying her best to smile and hold back her tears.
A bite mark on her arm indicated that a zombie had bitten her!
"No! Mama, stay with me!"
The boy cried and glued to his mother by tightly grabbing her legs.
"I-I can't, my baby. Please listen to Mama and wait for someone," Isabella's tears streamed down as she said with a lump in her throat. She knew she wouldn't survive and needed to stay away from her son. That's why she planned to go out of the basement. But Aaron was bawling and tightly grabbed her legs, not moving a bit.
The kid was tremendously scared because of what he had just witnessed!
"Shss…. don't, don't shout, Aaron or those monsters will come here," Isabella forcefully grabbed Aaron's hands as she pushed him away from her legs before she bent down to look at his face. She wiped her son's face, who was now sobbing in a suppressed voice with fear-filled eyes.
In the boy's mind, the only safety factor was his mother, and he didn't want to separate from her!
"Stay with me, mum. *Sob* D-Don't go."
Isabella looked at her son and tried her best to smile while wiping his face.
'If I die, I won't turn into a zombie, right?'
She was not sure and didn't want to take a risk. Instead, she had to find some way to go out without those monsters and zombies outside noticing them.
*Crack... Smash... Crack..*
Suddenly, they heard the sound of furniture getting destroyed, the sound of glass shattering, and the basement door creaking.
Isabella's body trembled as she quickly embraced Aaron and buried his face into her bosom before whispering. "Don't cry, Aaron. Don't make any sound."
Aaron was constantly trembling in fear because he had seen a glimpse of cruel sight outside and was terrified.
On the other hand, Isabella was also scared. It was obvious that anyone would be scared in this situation.
After several seconds, the sound stopped, and Isabella whispered. "Aaron. Go and hide there."
So Isabella stood up and took Aaron towards the small storage room.
"Stay with me, mum," Aaron grabbed his mother's hand after she put him in the storage room. She put a plastic chair behind the door so Aaron could see outside through the transparent glass of the door.
"You see this transparent glass part? You can see me from there, okay? I will be sitting there, and you can see my hand. But don't come out, and don't make any sound if Mama suddenly moves after a while."
"Understand, Aaron? Don't make any sound, and stay here silently. Wait for someone to come and save you, okay?"
"B-But…"
Aaron was going to cry, but Isabella quickly scared him by saying that the monster would come.
"Stay here and wait for someone to save us, okay? Mama will be sitting there, and you will be able to see my hand," Isabella said while suppressing her sobs. "Listen to Mama this time, please. You are my good boy, right?"
Aaron nodded while trying to stop crying, and Isabella closed the storage door.
"Lock it from inside."
Aaron locked and nodded at her through the square transparent glass part of the storage room's door.
"Good boy," Isabella smiled and wiped her face before walking towards the half-wall separating the two basement sections.
After leaning against the wall, she turned her head out to look at Aaron, who was looking at her, and smiled before saying, "Mama is here. But don't come out whatever happens, okay? Wait for someone to come here and only come out if they look normal."
Afterward, she just put out her hand for Aaron to see while the rest of her body was behind the wall.
She took a deep breath to calm down, but tears still streamed from her eyes upon thinking of her son and his future.
After the recent sounds, she didn't want to risk leaving the basement and attracting demons in the basement.
'Almighty God, if you are there, please don't let me turn into a zombie after dying.' Isabela prayed as tears continued streaming down her face. Then, after two seconds, she bit her lips with all her strength and didn't even cry out in pain to prevent alerting Aaron.
After a slightly muffled groan, she continued to bleed her tongue with immense fires of resolve burning in her eyes while praying to God to prevent her from turning into a zombie.
Despite the pain, she endured and wished to die and not turn into a zombie afterward to keep her son safe!
'Please, god. I…beg…you…'
She lost consciousness after a few minutes, and death soon followed.
Aaron then heard some demon screaming sounds and was scared. He couldn't resist and exited the storage room before rushing toward his mother.
After failing to wake his mother, he stood at the basement door because of the faint talking sound and soon heard a human voice.
Feeling hopeful, Aaron came out of the basement and saw Erix and Rin as he called out for help.
…
On the other hand, Isabella felt like she was dreaming, hearing some faint old archaic voice in her head.
[A mother's….your child….

Isabella opened her eyes, feeling nothing but refreshment and joy in her body because her mind and body felt like they were bathing in a sea of comfort.
"Mama!" Aaron dashed forward as Erix released him and tightly hugged his mother as he buried his face in her bosom and wrapped her arms around her neck.
"Aaron… I am alive?" Isabella uttered in surprise and disbelief as she caressed her son's back to check if everything was real or if she was dreaming.
"You are alive, ma'am," Rin said with a big happy smile. Erix also smiled behind his mask and felt glad about the mother-son duo.
"I am alive… Aaron, I am alive! My son-" Isabella bawled out as she hugged her son tightly. "-I am not going anywhere now."
