Chapter 21 - 15: Striking Again
Chapter 21: Chapter 15: Striking Again
Yan Fei, having learned of the conspiracy against himself, immediately resolved to thoroughly eliminate this hidden danger. He no longer headed home but instead turned his car around, driving towards South City. Meanwhile, his Drone Avatar stayed put, continuing to surveil the two men.
The two men had no idea that they had already leaked important secrets. They continued chatting idly, their conversation now filled with frivolities, offering no more useful information. Seeing that they were no longer of value, the Drone Avatar quietly returned to the room, entering standby mode to avoid wasting Energy Points.
Yan Fei understood that the biggest flaw was the blood samples and clothing scraps left at the scene of the fight. With scientific testing, he’d have no chance to deny his involvement. As for why the minivan appeared near the scene at that time, it wasn’t too significant an issue and could be easily explained away. Therefore, he just needed to dispose of the blood samples and clothing scraps in time, and all would be well.
Yan Fei’s minivan continued toward South City, but he always maintained a distance of 10 kilometers from his home. Then, he found a well-known large bathhouse, parked the minivan in a conspicuous place with a Surveillance Camera, and confidently entered the Bathhouse to bathe.
Afterward, Yan Fei even rented a separate room and had a young masseuse wash his feet for him. To make a lasting impression on the young masseuse, he told her some thought-provoking jokes, making her laugh heartily. Finally, he closed the door as if ready to rest.
Once the young masseuse left, Yan Fei immediately locked the door and marked the handle. He then opened his Universal Space, taking out a new set of clothes to change into. After that, he opened the window of the room and surveyed the outside conditions.
The rest area of the bathhouse was on the third floor. Yan Fei purposely chose a room with its back to the main street, where it was pitch-dark below, no streetlights in sight. He opened the window and stealthily climbed down from the third floor. With his current physical condition, he easily reached the ground floor.
Yan Fei thought for a moment, and an old second-hand Motorcycle appeared before him. It was the temporary mode of transportation that Yan Fei had prepared for himself, stored in the Universal Space for emergencies. He put on a helmet, started the motorcycle, and left the bathhouse, heading towards Zhang Baocheng’s villa.
When he was nearly there, the Drone from Yan Fei’s house activated and flew into the night sky, heading in Yan Fei’s direction. The two men monitoring him near his home were oblivious to this.
Over twenty minutes later, Yan Fei arrived near Zhang Baocheng’s villa again. The Drone Avatar also reached the location at the same time. This time, Yan Fei was very cautious. He first stowed the Motorcycle in the Universal Space, then quietly approached Zhang Baocheng’s villa, avoiding the Surveillance Cameras.
Stopping 500 meters from the villa, Yan Fei began flying the Drone. The Drone carefully approached the villa and noticed that the security had indeed been significantly tightened. More Surveillance Cameras had been installed, more Security Personnel were patrolling the area, and several searchlights were continuously rotating in the night sky. It seemed the previous incident had taught Zhang Baocheng a lesson, prompting a major Upgrade in the villa’s defenses.
The Drone hovered at an altitude of 200 meters, 100 meters away from the villa, where it was a blind spot for the villa surveillance. However, using its advanced imaging technology, the Drone could still monitor every movement within the villa in real-time, even picking up bits of the patrol’s conversations.
Based on the lights in the villa and the conversations of Security Personnel, Yan Fei deduced there was a basement beneath the villa. The blood samples, clothing scraps, and Steel Ball Bullets collected from the fight scene were all stored there. And the experts invited by Zhang Baocheng were about to arrive. Once those experts got there, they would begin analyzing the blood samples.
Time was running out for Yan Fei. If he didn’t destroy that evidence before the experts started their analysis, it would be too late. By then, not only would Zhang Baocheng and his organization not let him go, but the police would also give him trouble once they learned of these findings.
However, Yan Fei did not act rashly. He patiently waited and gradually figured out the patrol patterns of the Security Personnel. He then took a plastic mask from the Universal Space, put it on, and began to infiltrate the villa with guidance from the Drone above.
Being able to continuously monitor the entire villa from above allowed Yan Fei to avoid the patrols in time. With his agile skills, he safely entered the villa. But as soon as he stepped inside, the Drone above became redundant. Now everything depended on Yan Fei himself.
Thanks to the transformation by Mysterious Power, some of Yan Fei’s Special Abilities began to emerge. For instance, his hearing and vision had become incredibly heightened, far surpassing that of an average person. Even without the Drone’s directions, with his extraordinary hearing and vision, he successfully avoided the villa’s Security Personnel and snuck inside.
The Security Personnel, though patrolling, occasionally exchanged some words. From their conversations, Yan Fei learned that Zhang Baocheng was not currently in the villa; apparently, he had gone out to meet someone. However, Yan Fei’s target that night wasn’t Zhang Baocheng. He just wanted to destroy the blood samples and clothing scraps in the villa, so Zhang Baocheng’s presence did not affect him.
Yan Fei carefully avoided the Security Personnel and entered the villa’s basement. He saw two Security Personnel sitting at the entrance of the basement, chatting listlessly, each holding an electric baton. Suddenly revealing his presence, he accelerated and before they could react, he grabbed their heads and slammed them together. With a loud “bang,” the two men were knocked out without even a chance to scream.
Yan Fei carefully laid the two bodies on the ground, then gently pushed open the basement door, only to find it empty. In the center of the room sat several instruments adorned with glass bottles, some filled with unidentified liquids. A transparent container also sat on the table, holding dark soil and a few tattered pieces of clothing, with over a dozen steel ball bullets on a tray. Additionally, one glass bottle contained a large eyeball soaked within.
Yan Fei knew these must be remnants of himself collected at the scene of the fierce fight by Zhang Baocheng’s men. But he soon felt relieved, as judging by the scene, it seemed they hadn’t had the chance to test them yet. Otherwise, once Zhang Baocheng confirmed the genes from the fight scene matched Yan Fei’s, they wouldn’t even need to make a move; a simple police report would spell the end for Yan Fei.
A heavy rain had washed the scene of the fight clean in the past few days. This meant the evidence gathered in this basement was the last piece. If Yan Fei destroyed this last bit of evidence, he would completely eliminate the risk of exposure.
With that thought, Yan Fei didn’t hesitate. He pulled out a plastic bucket filled with gasoline from his Universal Space. This was gasoline he had previously taken from a gas station while driving the minivan, sucked out of the vehicle’s fuel tank and into the plastic bucket. He had prepared two such buckets of gasoline, just as a precaution, yet he didn’t expect they would come into use so soon.
Yan Fei unscrewed the lid of the gasoline bucket and began to splash the gas around the basement, the pungent odor permeating the space.
After he had finished spreading the gasoline, Yan Fei threw the bucket to the ground, retreated to the basement entrance, pulled out a lighter, lit it, and tossed it. The lighter traced an arc in the air before falling to the ground. A “boom” sounded as the gasoline ignited, engulfing the basement in flames.
At that very moment, the Drone Avatar’s view from the outside suddenly spotted several cars driving into the villa, one of which belonged to Zhang Baocheng. It seemed like Zhang Baocheng had returned. While the underground fire was raging, there wasn’t yet any sign of trouble from the outside.
Yan Fei exited the basement, ready to leave. However, seeing the two unconscious Security Personnel by the basement door, he hesitated but eventually decided to carry them out, dumping them in the garden outside.
The cars parked, and people started to disembark, including Zhang Baocheng. After alighting, Zhang Baocheng obsequiously opened the rear door of a car, helping a middle-aged, sturdy man step out, then hurried to his side to speak. The other vehicles discharged several individuals in white lab coats, likely the experts Zhang Baocheng’s Security Personnel had mentioned.
Having just taken care of all the evidence, Yan Fei was in high spirits and preferred not to complicate matters further. With the Drone’s assistance, he carefully avoided those entering the villa.
Just then, thick white smoke began to billow, and flames emerged from the villa. The basement fire had finally been noticed, causing a commotion inside as the Security Personnel shouted out orders to extinguish the fire and rescue anyone trapped.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Yan Fei reached the corner of the wall, scaled it with a leap, and jumped over.
In the instant before landing, an intense sense of danger surged within him. Startled, he braced his hand against the wall, pushing his body sharply outward half a body’s width. Then he heard a loud “bang,” and debris flew as a gaping hole appeared in the wall, revealing a massive foot right before Yan Fei’s eyes.
Yan Fei was taken aback. Had he not sensed the warning and shifted sideways, he would have been struck by that foot.
A middle-aged, sturdy man appeared through the large hole in the wall—it was the same one Zhang Baocheng had escorted from the car. He withdrew his leg from the wall, waved his arms with ease to enlarge the hole, and then climbed through the enlarged hole, coldly regarding Yan Fei, who wore a plastic mask.
