Chapter 39
Captured
“Phew…” Jiang Li slowly took a deep breath and calmed himself. He said with a deep voice, “Get some information about the number and strength of the monsters first.”
“Yes, Master.” Intel Mech XX02 replied.
Swish! On the screen, Wang Long started moving. He was a Cold Weapon Mech of perfected-stage level one, so he was more suitable for probing tasks. While Jiang Li was watching, Wang Long sneaked into the dark and approached the monsters silently.
Time flew, but Jiang Li waited patiently.
Ten minutes later Wang Long returned safely. He stood next to XX02 and saluted Jiang Li. “Master, mission completed.”
“Tell me about it,” Jiang Li said.
“There are thirty three monsters in total. One of them is at the peak stage of level one, two at the mid-stage, five at the early stage and the remaining ones are all elementary-level monsters.” Wang Long reported.
“Catch a peak-stage monster,” Jiang Li immediately said, “And kill all the remaining ones.”
“Yes.” Wang Long replied.
“Let’s go!”
Swish! Swish! Swish!
On the screen, the nine meches got closer to the monsters at their fastest speed.
Poof! Wang Long first approached a patrolling monster. His dagger created a beam of light and the monster’s head dropped as blood splashed.
Swish! Swish!
A few other meches quickly rushed into the place where the monsters gathered.
“Enemies!”
“Prepare to fight.”
“Quick!”
In an instant the monsters reacted. They were all astonished. They quickly picked up the weapons next to them and rushed forward fiercely.
Swish! Swish! Wang Long and the meches made way. Behind them a perfected-stage Firearm Mech had already set up the machine gun. He pointed at the thirty monsters ahead of him and pulled the trigger.
Clatter, clatter… The machine gun fired. In a blink the bullets fell like raindrops and they pierced through the body of the monsters. There was blood and screams everywhere.
“Argh!”
“What’s that?”
“Fall back! Fall back!”
“Raise your shields! Raise your shields!”
The monsters screamed. Their formation became messy and they were frightened.
A few minutes later, a 1200 rounds of bullets were finished. The entire battlefield was in chaos. Thirty monsters were shot and their dead bodies were all over the place.
A Firearm Mech of perfected-stage level one was extremely vicious. Only Martial Artists of the same level could withstand the shooting of the machine gun and get close to the Firearm Mech. If not, even those at the peak stage of level one couldn’t do so.
Of course, when the Firearm Meches were out of bullets, they would be much less helpful. Luckily, no matter if they were at the early stage, mid-stage, peak stage or perfected stage of level one, only a little energy points were needed to refill their bullets.
This was the first time the monsters encountered such enemies. They were annihilated by Jiang Li’s mech army effortlessly.
“It’s an easy victory.”
Jiang Li watched the fight through Intel Mech XX02.
“They killed thirty monsters just like that. I’ve underestimated the power of the meches.”
“Master, I’ve captured a monster.”
Thirty seconds later, Wang Long caught a monster with a snake head and human body from the tent. She had green scales all over her body and her limbs had been broken by Wang Long.
“Who… Who are you?” The monster was terrified. More than thirty monsters died in just a few minutes. She wanted to run away, but Wang Long caught her. It was terrifying! The enemies were terrifying!
“Bring her back,” Jiang Li looked at her and said, “The other monsters may be on their way here. Come back right now and don’t stop on the way. We’ll interrogate this monster first.”
“Yes, Master.” Wang Long nodded.
“Please save us, please save us…” The people in the cages immediately shouted.
“Master?” Wang Long said.
“Just destroy the cages and leave them there,” Jiang Li said.
“Yes.” Wang Long nodded.
Slash! Slash! Wang Long walked to the cages, then pulled out the long blade on his back and slash them open.
“Thank you, thank you.” Those people crawled out of the cages and knelt on the ground to thank Wang Long.
Wang Long didn’t even look at them. He turned around and left. The other meches had collected all the bullet cases and searched the tents of the monsters.
Jiang Li wasn’t lucky this time. Many level-one monsters died, but no Soul Tinder appeared.
After that Wang Long and the meches left right away. However, those prisoners followed Wang Long and the meches secretly, which might catch the attention of the monsters and expose their location.
“Get rid of them,” Jiang Li said coldly, “If they refuse to go, kill them!”
“Yes.” Wang Long nodded immediately and sent an early-stage Firearm Mech over.
Bang! Bang! The Firearm Mech shot on the ground near those people’s feet.
“If you keep following us, I’ll kill you,” the Firearm Mech said with a cold look.
“S… Sir…” The prisoners trembled.
“…”
The Firearm Mech turned around and left.
...
This time, those prisoners didn’t follow them anymore.
“How can they do that?”
“We’re all humans. Why won’t they allow us to follow them?”
“They’re so powerful.”
“They’re selfish.”
“…”
Many people thought. However, a small number of people had left and hidden in the jungle. They were looking for food to survive.
An hour later the call ended and the screen in front of Jiang Li disappeared.
“I hope we can get some information from the monster.”
Jiang Li thought.
On the other hand. Wang Yan and the others were also on a mission, but the Intel Meches didn’t go with them, so Jiang Li had no idea about the situation.
...
At midnight, Yongan City seemed peaceful, but something was actually happening. The White Dragon Gang, Tingyu Tower and Tianmen Gang had gotten some news and they started to gather their members.
Wang Yan and the other came to Zhang Ling’s home and killed a few servants and guards there, but they couldn’t find Zhang Ling. Even Zhang Ling’s butler didn’t know where he was. Then, they went to the other places. However, Zhang Ling wasn’t there either. So they could only come back.
At the Sirius Gang, in the Chief’s compound.
“Master, mission failed.” Wang Yan lowered her head and said with a disappointed look, “We didn’t find Zhang Ling.”
“You didn’t find him?” Jiang Li frowned. “Perhaps Zhang Ling knew we were looking for him and he hid somewhere? Who leaked the news?”
“Chief, the State Lord wants to see you.” At the door Gu Tianqi, the Hall Master of Ancient Pine Hall, stood upright. He was blocked by the meches and could only yell from the entrance.
