Chapter 312: Chapter 312: The Moon Rabbit Girl
Lin Shen, carrying the Giant God's Bone, was planning to visit the Giant God Cemetery on Giant God Mountain; if he could dig up a Mutant Spirit Base, that would be a huge win.
He hadn't reached Giant God Mountain when Lin Shen stopped, turned around, and said, "You've been following for so long, and now that there's nobody around, there's no need for you to hide anymore. Come out and take whatever you want."
Lin Shen had thought it was the Other Race individual who had stolen the Giant God's Bone from him, but when he saw a figure emerge from the woods, he realized it wasn't the Other Race he had in mind, but rather the Moon Rabbit Clan girl.
"It's you?" Lin Shen was somewhat surprised, sizing up the Moon Rabbit Clan girl.
"Don't misunderstand, I don't intend to rob you of anything. I'm following you because I want to discuss a matter with you," the Moon Rabbit Clan girl said as she approached.
"Stay right there, don't move. What matter do you wish to discuss?" Lin Shen stopped the Moon Rabbit Clan girl, not going to let his guard down just because she was a pretty girl.
The Moon Rabbit Clan girl obediently halted and said timidly, "I want to go to the cemetery with you. Could you take me along?"
"No," Lin Shen refused outright.
"Please, don't be so quick to reject me. Listen to what I have to say, and if afterward you still don't want to take me with you, I'll leave immediately without bothering you any further," the Moon Rabbit Clan girl said somewhat anxiously.
Lin Shen watched her without saying a word, and the Moon Rabbit Clan girl continued, "My name is Yun, a mix of the Moon Rabbit Clan and Spirit Treasure Clan. I possess the Spirit Treasure Clan's special talent. I have a keen ability to sense various Spirit Bases and can help you find the ones buried in the ground in the cemetery."
"Why are you telling me all this?" Lin Shen stared at Yun intently.
He had never heard of the Spirit Treasure Clan, nor did he know if they genuinely possessed such a talent. If they did, he wondered how many people would be clamoring to bring her to the Giant God Cemetery, and why she would be pleading with him, a stranger, instead.
"Besides you, nobody knows of my Spirit Treasure Clan bloodline, and I dare not let anyone know I possess this ability. You understand what I mean, right?" Yun said.
"You're afraid of other people, but not of me?" Lin Shen's expression darkened. Yun's logic didn't make sense to him.
Lin Shen didn't feel he had any particular charm that would make Yun, who seemed unwilling to trust anyone, easily trust a stranger she had just met.
"I've seen you at the Pioneer Corps' base. You came with Lord Tian Xun, and you are not a part of the Pioneer Corps. You were one of the six who went into the forbidden area." Yun spoke with a hint of a plea, "I have nothing on my own, and to go to the Giant God Cemetery, my only option is to collaborate with someone.
I think someone trusted by Lord Tian Xun is likely more reliable than those desperate outlaws in the Pioneer Corps. I don't want much; whatever you find is completely yours. I'll contribute to finding items, and Big Head, you take the majority. You decide what my efforts are worth and give me as much as you see fit. If you find my contribution worthless, I am willing to leave empty-handed."
"Are you truly able to sense Spirit Bases?" Lin Shen scrutinized Yun for a while before speaking.
"I can sense some, but my sensing ability isn't very strong. It's worth a try; if my efforts prove useless, you don't have to give me anything, just get me down the mountain safely," Yun replied eagerly.
"Wait here for me," Lin Shen instructed Yun to stay put while he ran into the forest. He then took a Pterosaur Sickle Life Base from his backpack, found a concealed spot, and thrust it into the ground.
Surrounded by clumps of grass, the Pterosaur Sickle was impossible to trace once embedded.
This Pterosaur Sickle was taken from Ring Mountain Planet by Lin Shen; a Third Turn Pterosaur Sickle was quite rare.
Lin Shen didn't go back immediately; he walked around to ensure Yun couldn't deduce where he had been by following his footprints.
"Yun, take a look in the forest, see if you can find anything," Lin Shen said upon returning.
Yun was not stupid; he understood Lin Shen's implication and immediately ran into the forest.
Lin Shen followed Yun, observing every move he made. To his surprise, Yun went straight to the bush where Lin Shen had inserted the Pterosaur Sickle. Then he turned around and said to Lin Shen, "The Spirit Base you hid is here."
"How did you know?" Lin Shen was somewhat astonished.
"Actually, from the moment I met you, I could sense the aura of the Spirit Base on you," Yun said.
"Spirit Base has an aura? So, you mean you sniffed it out with your nose?" Lin Shen was somewhat taken aback.
"Well, it's not exactly an aroma. It's more like a special kind of spiritual wave. My nose can sense that type of wave..." Yun explained for a while, but Lin Shen still couldn't understand what kind of spiritual wave was atop the Spirit Base.
"Alright, according to what you said, I will take you to the Giant God Cemetery and protect you. If you truly can be of use, I won't treat you unfairly," Lin Shen said after pondering for a moment.
"Thank you," Yun replied, overjoyed, and with both legs together, he respectfully bowed to Lin Shen.
Lin Shen took Yun with him up Giant God Mountain, and following the route he had learned, they headed for the Giant God Cemetery.
With the pass issued by Lord Tian Xun, the Pioneer Corps guarding the mountain didn't dare give them any trouble.
In fact, since the area of the Giant God Mountain was simply too vast, the Pioneer Corps couldn't stop everyone from entering the mountain; only certain key areas were closely guarded, while many other regions were frequented by lone Mutators and Ascenders seeking to explore.
The Giant God Cemetery was not a key area; it was essentially a chaotic burial ground, while the real burial site of the Giant God Clan lay within the mausoleum deeper inside the cemetery.
However, aside from the Nirvana Beings, no one could enter that mausoleum, so there was no need for guards.
When the two arrived at the Giant God Cemetery, they saw many people adorned with bones wandering within the burial site, with holes dug out all over the gully.
"Yun, it's all on you now," Lin Shen said, wanting to test if Yun was truly of any help.
Yun nodded, his expression grave as he led the way, occasionally sniffing the ground haphazardly.
This canyon was originally a river channel, with a layer of cobblestones more than a meter thick on the ground. The places where the Giant God Clan had buried their bones were beneath this layer of stones, which were not easy to find.
Near the entrance of the canyon, many people had already excavated the area, leaving pits and piles of cobblestones all around.
Lin Shen initially thought the chances of finding a Spirit Base here were slim to none, but after Yun walked around for a while, he stopped in front of a hole that was over two meters deep, already dug by someone else.
"There seems to be something here." Yun jumped into the hole and sniffed around for a good while before confirming something to Lin Shen.
Lin Shen asked Yun to step aside and then summoned the Black Crystal Stoneman, instructing it to dig down into the pit.
He had thought that a spot already excavated by others would be unlikely to contain a Spirit Base, yet after the Black Crystal Stoneman dug down another meter inside the hole, there was a tink sound, and to their astonishment, they truly found something.
