Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

Chapter 297: Chapter 297 Nightglow Flower

The multicolored crystal-like behemoth walked up to the sleeping Saber-Toothed Tiger, bent down, and directly picked it up in its mouth.

The Saber-Toothed Tiger, fast asleep, didn't react at all as the behemoth tossed it into the air and then swallowed it whole.

With a few crunchy bites, the Saber-Toothed Tiger was completely devoured by the behemoth.

Lin Shen had originally thought that given the Ascended Creature's massive size, its resistance would be much higher, and that after so many transfers, it wouldn't be easy to put it to sleep.

After all, such a huge Saber-Toothed Tiger would surely take time to digest, right?

Yet, who would have thought that after only a few steps, the creature would suddenly keel over and fall to the ground, crashing into and shattering some of the Emerald Sword Orchids nearby, then plopped down and began snoring heavily.

"Is that stuff really that potent?" Lin Shen wondered in shock.

Had he known the tree's powder was this powerful, strong enough to overcome the resistance of Ascended Creatures, he would have kept some for himself.

Should he ever encounter an enemy he couldn't defeat, he could find a way to feed them this substance and let them sleep like a dead pig, at which point he could kill them any way he wanted.

Unfortunately, all the powder had been licked clean, and now there was no opportunity to collect more.

"This fellow swallowed the Saber-Toothed Tiger; perhaps the effects of the tree's powder are in its Ascension Liquid. Once I kill it and collect its Ascension Liquid, there should be some effect, right?" Lin Shen waited a while, and seeing no other creatures appear, and the Ascended Creature still sleeping like a dead pig, he quietly approached it.

He pushed it twice with his hand, and there was no response—a testament to the potency of the tree's powder after several transformations, it was still so powerful.

Lin Shen did not hesitate any longer. He ran back and took the Archangel's Sword that Tian Xin had strapped to the sword case on her back.

"Tian Xin, I'm borrowing this," Lin Shen said, taking the Archangel's Sword, and approached the Ascended Creature again.

He aimed the sword at the red acupuncture point on the creature's head and stabbed down.

The Archangel's Sword felt weightless in his hand, but it was truly hard and sharp enough.

With Lin Shen's strength and speed, the sword pierced all the way to the hilt, with only the guard and handle remaining outside.

The sleeping Ascended Creature didn't react at all and was thus killed by Lin Shen with a single stab.

Lin Shen took out the prepared water bag, then slowly pulled out the sword. The colorful Ascension Liquid flowed along the blade's edge.

Lin Shen hurriedly used the bag to catch it. Despite the Ascended Creature's large size, there was not much Ascension Liquid inside its body. Lin Shen filled three full bags, but the fourth bag was only half full before the liquid ran out.

It was a pity that it didn't expel its Life Base when it was killed; its Life Base probably still exists in its body in particle form.

Lin Shen wanted to extract its Life Base, which maintains its sentience after its host's death and should automatically coalesce into shape upon contact.

Using the sword, Lin Shen began to dissect the carcass of the Ascended Creature. Just as he cut into the spine, he heard a tinkling sound.

Then he saw colorful particles fly out from the creature's spine and quickly coalesce into a multicolored crystal-like flower.

However, without any guidance, the flower-like Life Base only remained suspended in the air for a moment before it fell to the ground.

"Huh, the Life Base of this Ascended Creature turns out to be a flower," Lin Shen picked up the flower-like Life Base.

The flower part of this Life Base was about the size of Lin Shen's fist, resembling a rose with thin branches and a few leaves underneath, and tiny sharp thorns on the branches.

The entire Life Base was colored in a vibrant spectrum, with changing lights inside, absence of a fixed spirit form.

Lin Shen looked down at his watch and saw there was already a message.

"Killed a Sixth Turn Mutated Ascension Beast, Luminescent Beast; discovered a Sixth Turn Mutated Spirit Base, Nightglow Flower."

"Damn, this thing is actually a sixth turn mutant... How come I didn't feel it was that strong... It just goes to show how hard and sharp the Archangel's Sword at the tenth turn is..." Lin Shen was ecstatic in his heart.

This mutated sixth turn Spirit Base, the Nightglow Flower, was like something gained without any effort.

Lin Shen hurriedly stuffed the Nightglow Flower into his backpack, hanged all the bags containing Ascension Liquid on him, then he went back to where Tian Xin was and put the immaculate, spotless Archangel's Sword back into its scabbard.

"It seems that in the future, I should first find a Spirit Base to use as a weapon. Although I won't be able to unleash the full power of a Spirit Base, its hardness and sharpness would greatly assist me in killing Ascended Creatures. I didn't use a Spirit Base as a weapon before because I didn't have enough strength.

Now, I'm strong enough to wield a typical Spirit Base weapon, or find a weightless Spirit Base weapon like the Archangel's Sword," Lin Shen planned what kind of Spirit Base weapon he would obtain in the future.

Back home buried was Zheng Guyuan's sword, and on Ring Mountain Planet, Lin Shen had buried lots of Spirit Bases as well, though most of them were of the first or second turn, with Pterosaur Sickles and Triceratops War Halberds being the most numerous.

Unfortunately, Lin Shen didn't know how to use a sickle, and he wasn't accustomed to using a trident-type war halberd either.

"It would be great if I could get a spear or a whip," Lin Shen crouched down and pinched Tian Xin's philtrum hard again, but still couldn't wake him up.

"This won't do, I have to get him out of here. If he dies here, I'd have a hard time explaining it to Tian Xun." After some thought, Lin Shen decided to try one last time, and if it still wouldn't work, he'd rather leave behind the Attribute Fruits and take Tian Xin out to hand over to Tian Xun.

Lin Shen summoned the Black Crystal Stoneman and had it carry the box with the fruits away to a distance, then ordered it to open the box.

Watching from afar, Lin Shen saw the Black Crystal Stoneman standing there and nothing happened for quite a while; it didn't fall asleep like Tian Xin, which made Lin Shen's heart leap with joy.

Still not completely assured, Lin Shen summoned more pets to go near the fruits. The result was the same; none of them fell asleep.

"Indeed, it was the small tree that put Tian Xin to sleep, it had nothing to do with the fruits." Lin Shen had another guess in his heart, so he let the stone creature carry the box with the fruits a bit further away from Tian Xin, and then approached Tian Xin with the box.

Tian Xin didn't fall asleep when he was picking the fruits before.

Logically, with such potent sleep-inducing power from the small tree, Tian Xin should have fallen asleep a long time ago while picking the first fruit so slowly.

But it wasn't until he had plucked all three fruits, put them into the box, and closed it, that he finally fell asleep.

Lin Shen began to wonder if it was the presence of these three fruits that initially prevented Tian Xin from falling asleep immediately.

As Lin Shen suspected, as the three fruits got closer to Tian Xin, he who had been lying still as if dead, actually started to show signs of movement and gradually came to.
