Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution

Chapter 295: Chapter 295: Attribute Fruit

Tian Xun led Lin Shen and Tian Xin to Giant God Mountain, the result of negotiations between the three families, where each family could only send two people into the forbidden area of Giant God Mountain every time.

These past few days, Tian Xin hadn't given Lin Shen any good expressions. When speaking with Tian Xun, he was all smiles and laughter, but as soon as his face turned to Lin Shen, it would become expressionless, faster than a face-changing act in Sichuan opera.

Lin Shen didn't mind and spoke as usual.

After following Tian Xun to the temporary encampment outside Giant God Mountain, Lin Shen met An 117 and Chi 118.

Being both Celestials, Lin Shen couldn't really tell them apart.

Just as aliens see humans, finding them to look almost alike, Lin Shen thought the Celestials looked similar as well, with no significant differences.

Instead, it was the two Mutators behind An 117 that caught Lin Shen's attention.

An 117's two Mutators, just like Tian Xun's, turned out to be one human and one Celestial, while both of the Mutators chosen by Chi 118 were Celestials.

What surprised Lin Shen was that the human Mutator chosen by An 117 was none other than Ximen Swordsman, who had come to Giant Ring Star with him.

The current Ximen Swordsman had obviously adapted to the environment here, seemed in good spirits, and was even wearing a new set of advanced armor. While it wasn't as good as the set Tian Xun had given to Lin Shen, it still wasn't something an ordinary human could come by.

Chi 118 seemed somewhat surprised, not expecting both Tian Xun and An 117's choices to include a human.

However, he didn't say much, and after a brief exchange, he had someone lead the six of them onto Giant God Mountain.

This was Lin Shen's first time seeing such a colossal mountain. From the foot of the mountain, only the outermost peaks of Giant God Mountain could be seen, not its full extent.

Even so, it was enough to awe anyone; the height and breadth were incomparable to the great mountains on the Human Mother Planet.

Lin Shen remembered that the stronger the gravity of a planet, the less likely it was for high mountains to form. He couldn't understand why Giant Ring Star, with gravity much stronger than the Human Mother Planet, would have such an enormous mountain.

The mountain was surprisingly covered with many jade-like grass plants. The leaves were vibrant and colorful, as if one had entered a jade artwork museum.

Some of these jade-like grass plants had leaves as long as giant trees. The towering grasses, ranging from ten to even twenty or thirty meters tall, were abundant.

As the group followed the guide up the mountain, there was a moment when they felt the illusion of having shrunk to the size of ants, navigating through the underbrush.

Tian Xin ignored Lin Shen, and Lin Shen wasn't in the mood to talk to him either. His gaze fell on Ximen Swordsman, but Ximen Swordsman didn't even look his way.

Lin Shen touched his nose, a bit puzzled, wondering how he had ended up in this situation, without even a single person to talk to.

"If only Xu Tiange were here. I used to think he talked too much and it was annoying, but now without him by my side, it really feels too quiet." Lin Shen inexplicably started to miss Xu Tiange.

Since they were on a safe passage that had already been explored, they encountered no danger along the way.

And before setting out, they have all memorized the various taboos of the mountain.

Still, as they passed certain areas, they could see large areas of bloodstains. On one slope, the entire slope had been dyed dark red with blood, and it was unknown how many had died there at the time.

They didn't walk that slope but detoured along the mountain wall on another side.

The narrow path on the outside of the mountain wall could only accommodate two feet side by side, with a bottomless abyss shrouded in fog below. One misstep would mean even a Mutator would fall to their death.

Fortunately, they were all Mutators, so this place was no different from flat ground to them.

"What is that?" As they were moving along a mountain path, Tian Xin suddenly pointed into the mist and spoke.

Everyone couldn't help but stop in their tracks and look where Tian Xin was pointing.

They saw that there was another peak across the way, shrouded in mist, with something at the summit that was flashing intermittently.

"Giant God Mountain harbors many mysteries; it's best not to listen or look around too much, safety comes first," the guide said before continuing to lead the way ahead.

Although everyone was somewhat curious about what the flashing light at the opposite peak was, they all heeded the guide's advice and stopped paying attention to it.

These were lessons learned through bloodshed. Before coming here, most of them had heard about the exploration of Giant God Mountain a few days prior, that had cost the lives of thousands.

Though they encountered some strange sights along the way, fortunately, they didn't run into any danger and safely arrived at the entrance of a cave.

"Once you pass through this cave, you'll be able to reach that place. Take care of yourselves. Make sure to return to base by the same way before it gets dark," the guide pointed inside the cave, then turned and left, apparently not willing to stay a moment longer.

The group exchanged glances. One person took the lead and walked into the cave while the others followed suit.

The cave became larger the deeper they went, with odd-shaped stalactites everywhere. Illuminated by the light of their flashlights, they even reflected specks of brightness.

After passing through the cave, the view opened up before them, and they found themselves in a colossal valley.

In the valley, there were five-colored Sword Orchids taller than trees themselves, each leaf sculpted like multicolored jade, the shortest of which were also dozens of meters tall.

Upon arriving, the group instinctively dispersed into the brush and explored in different directions without any prior arrangement.

Tian Xin didn't mind Lin Shen and headed into the thick of the Sword Orchids by himself; Lin Shen followed leisurely.

He had promised Tian Xun to take care of Tian Xin and couldn't let anything happen to him here.

"Why are you following me? Go find your own Attribute Fruit; stop thinking about snatching others'" Tian Xin turned his head and glared at him.

"No hurry, just taking a look around," Lin Shen said with a smile.

"Hmph, don't think that by buttering me up now, I'll agree to your affair with my aunt. That's a pipe dream. I'll make sure my aunt kicks you to the curb," Tian Xin said viciously.

Lin Shen didn't want to waste his breath and just followed behind at a leisurely pace.

Tian Xin had no way of dealing with him and could only speed up, trying to shake off Lin Shen.

But whenever Tian Xin sped up, Lin Shen did too; whenever Tian Xin slowed down, Lin Shen did as well, making it impossible to get rid of him.

Tian Xin simply stopped caring about him and focused on finding the Attribute Fruit. He didn't believe Lin Shen would dare to steal from him.

According to the information they had, that kind of Attribute Fruit grew near the Five-Colored Sword Orchids. It was fairly rare and wasn't just found anywhere; they could only try their luck.

After walking for a while, Tian Xin actually stumbled upon a miniature tree bearing Attribute Fruit.

Yes, Attribute Fruit grew on trees, but this tree was pitifully small, only about a foot tall.

It seemed like here things were inverted: the trees were all very miniaturized while the grass grew so huge.

The little tree was wholly white, like branches of white coral, with three fruits the size of pigeon eggs, colorful and colorful, resembling glass beads.
