Chapter 152: Got a Hold of It

Over twenty Crystal-based Creatures rushed at the entity from all directions, Lin Shen didn’t hope to harm it; as long as he could trap it, that would suffice.

The mutant Big Red Bull took the lead and charged over, the White Jade Tiger and Black Crystal Stoneman pounced from left and right, and three mutant Black Armored Centipedes fell from the sky, aiming straight for its eyes and neck.

The other Crystal-based Creatures also swarmed in; even if they couldn’t kill it, they were determined to pin it down.

Perhaps it had just been born and had never witnessed such a scene; surrounded by so many pets, it immediately unleashed its strongest force.

Streams of radiant crystal light patterns began to shine on its body, the crystalline lines that were originally only at the edges of the armor quickly extended across its entire carapace.

In an instant, the armor was covered with mysterious light patterns.

The attacks of the multitude of pets fell on its body, completely ineffective; instead, it kicked the Big Red Bull on its head, sending it plowing backwards for hundreds of meters like a plow.

The White Jade Tiger and Black Crystal Stoneman, one in each hand, were thrown hundreds of meters away by it, smashing into the ground and creating huge pits.

The three mutant Black Armored Centipedes clung to its head, biting and clawing, but couldn’t harm it at all; they were grabbed by its hands, which had retracted, and were violently slammed into the ground.

Youth, truly too youthful.

Even if it didn’t use those strange light patterns, Lin Shen’s pets couldn’t harm it; now that it was using the power of the light patterns, it was clearly consuming a great deal of its own energy.

Without hesitation, Lin Shen ordered all his Crystal-based Creatures to throw themselves at it, willing to pay the price of their lives to drain it.

The Armored War God-like creature blasted the head of a Crystal-based Creature with a punch, and then kicked another Crystal-based Creature in the chest, leaving a big hole.

Lin Shen continued to deploy more pets, firing all his Alloy pets he carried, keeping only Xiaoye, Xiaona, Death Powder, and the Frost Swordsman.

The Base Variant Creature was not at all conservative; when the Alloy pets pounced, it still struck with full force.

Watching one Alloy pet after another get blasted apart, Lin Shen wasn’t shocked but actually pleased; he quietly let his mutant and Crystal-based Creatures slack off, letting the Alloy pets go first to face death.

After all, it had just been born, and although powerful, its intelligence hadn’t fully developed, judgment was lacking, and stamina was also a concern.

Other Base Variant Creatures just born would consume their eggshells to replenish energy; it didn’t eat its eggshell and rushed out to chase Lin Shen, and now the drawbacks were becoming apparent.

As each Alloy pet fell, the light patterns on its body began to slowly dim.

As he watched his pets getting killed off in fewer numbers, and when the Alloy pets were near extermination, the light patterns on the Base Variant Creature became unstable, and one could visibly see its strength and speed declining.

Of course, no matter how much it declined, even without the light patterns, there was still no problem for it to kill Lin Shen’s pets, which still couldn’t harm it.

It had been using the light patterns all along, which was an overkill, entirely unnecessary and wasteful.

Finally, the light patterns on the Base Variant Creature completely disappeared, and in Lin Shen’s hands were two launchers, reloaded with Pet Capsules, which he fired crazily at it once again.

However, the capsules now loaded were only partially Alloy; most were made of steel.

Watching the rapidly approaching pets, the Base Variant Creature punched out, one after another, directly exploding the pets that were shot at it.

Looking at his excitement, he kicked away several Crystal Base pets charging towards him as if it was nothing.

But even a skilled fighter cannot fight off multiple attackers, and eventually, he was grabbed from behind by the Black Crystal Stoneman.

Normally, even if he was grappled, a Crystal Base Level wouldn’t have much of an issue with him.

Lin Shen fired rapidly. Even while held by the Black Crystal Stoneman, the Base Variant Creature was still incredibly fierce, bursting one pet capsule after another that flew towards him.

When the White Jade Tiger and Big Red Bull charged at him, the constrained Base Variant Creature leaped into the air, taking the Black Crystal Stoneman who was clinging to his back with him, avoiding their attack mid-jump.

The remaining two Black Armored Centipedes that had not yet been killed flapped their wings and launched an airborne attack on him.

After all, the Base Variant Creature was not an Ascender; unable to change direction in the air, he caught a Black Armored Centipede with each hand.

As for the steel pets which Lin Shen was shooting at him head-on, the Base Variant Creature no longer had the time to care about them. The alloy pets that collided with his body ended up twisted into a heap, some even shattered into pieces instantly.

Just when the Base Variant Creature was feeling proud of itself, it suddenly saw Lin Shen’s face appear before its eyes.

The unprepared Base Variant Creature was harshly struck by Lin Shen at a vital point, his body immediately stiffening, and even his hands that were trying to crush the Black Armored Centipedes stopped.

Seeing the Base Variant Creature stiff as a board, Lin Shen felt a surge of joy within him, “Acupoint Sealing truly is a divine technique, even such a powerful Base Variant Creature has been paralyzed by me.”

The Base Variant Creature fell to the ground, trembling nonstop, as if it might break free from the Acupoint Sealing at any moment.

As the Base Variant Creature’s body began to move again, Lin Shen struck fiercely once more, causing the creature’s body to stiffen up again.

“This guy is really too strong,” Lin Shen said, standing in front of him and intermittently applying more pressure at critical points to keep the Base Variant Creature from escaping.

“This can’t go on forever, I need to figure out a way to kill him or tame him,” Lin Shen murmured to himself, frustrated.

Neither able to kill him nor knowing how to tame him.

Lin Shen had heard others mention how Ouyang Yudu tamed wild Crystal Base Creatures, saying that he stayed on top of a Crystal-based Creature, no matter how much it thrashed, until it was completely exhausted, at which point it eventually accepted him as its master.

Lin Shen felt that it couldn’t be that simple; if taming just required riding them, then for Ascenders looking to tame Base Variant Creatures, it would be far too easy. Yet, as of now, aside from Ouyang Yudu, no one else seems to have tamed a wild Base Variant Creature.

Therefore, Lin Shen thought that the key to Ouyang Yudu’s success in taming the creature must be related to the time they both fell into the lake.

Unfortunately, no one saw what Ouyang Yudu did during that time, and Lin Shen couldn’t learn it even if he wanted to.

He took a quick inventory; the variant pets that remained were the Big Red Bull, Stoneman, White Jade Tiger, and the two Black Armored Centipedes, all of which were injured to varying degrees.

The Frost Swordsman and Death Powder had not been damaged because they had not been ordered to join the fray from the beginning.

Only three Crystal Base pets and two alloy pets remained, nearly resulting in total annihilation.

After such a high cost to just immobilize him, Lin Shen refused to retreat without accomplishing his goal.

“How can I tame him?” pondered Lin Shen, as he sent the slightly less injured Black Crystal Stoneman and the mutated Big Red Bull to Ring Mountain to bring back the eggshell of the Base Variant Creature.
