Chapter 150: 150 Accidental Discovery
Chapter 150: Accidental Discovery
“Oh my god, what did I just see?” After Lin Shen climbed Ring Mountain, he looked inside. The sight made his eyes widen in astonishment.
Within the confines of Ring Mountain, Lin Shen saw boiling magma, but the magma here was not red or golden, but a kind of blue magma, emitting an intense blue light, resembling an energy pool of sorts.
And in that blue magma bathed a creature resembling a majestic dragon.
Indeed, it was bathing, its body covered in Green Crystal Carapace, frolicking freely in the blue magma.
Its broad dragon wings were almost transparent, looking incredibly beautiful.
What took Lin Shen’s breath away even more was that, as the Green Crystal Dragon played, a huge Dragon Ball floated beside it, with a dragon-shaped light rotating inside it.
“There are creatures on this planet, and Ascended Creatures at that!” Lin Shen was both shocked and delighted.
If there were creatures, he would have a source of food, but he was not capable of killing such a powerful Ascendant being.
Without any hesitation, Lin Shen carefully retreated, tiptoeing back down the mountain the same way he came up, afraid that the Green Crystal Dragon might hear him.
Only after getting a good ten miles away from Ring Mountain did Lin Shen dare to breathe; he had been holding his breath the entire way.
“Could it be that the insides of the other Ring Mountains each harbor Ascended Creatures?” Lin Shen decided to check them out; there might be something to gain.
He picked another Ring Mountain and walked towards it.
He didn’t dare to ride his Big Red Bull, afraid that it would make too much noise if it ran and alarm the creatures inside the mountain.
Arriving at another Ring Mountain, Lin Shen climbed up stealthily, taking a lot of time to reach the top.
He peeked inside surreptitiously; it turned out to be another pool of blue magma, but this time, there were no Ascended Creatures to be seen.
Lin Shen swept his gaze over the area and his eyes suddenly lit up. He saw holes of various sizes on the side of the mountain not far from the blue magma.
The holes were not deep; he could see their ends from a distance. It would be more accurate to call them deeper pits on the mountain side rather than holes.
In several of these pits, Lin Shen saw eggs with blue Spirit Patterns on them.
“Are those… Ascension Eggs?” This was the first time Lin Shen had seen Ascended Creature eggs in person, and the Spirit Patterns on them indicated that they would be Ascendant-level upon birth.
If he could get his hands on these Ascension Eggs, their value would be immeasurable.
The trouble was that even just-hatched Ascended Creatures were not something he could contend with, and it was nearly impossible to tame them.
Therefore, the greatest value of these Ascension Eggs to Lin Shen was actually in their egg fluid. The effects of the egg fluid could be equated with the Base Mutation Fluid, or even be considered somewhat better.
The problem was that Lin Shen didn’t know to what extent these Ascension Eggs had developed. If he were to take one out and open it, only to find a fully developed Ascended Creature about to hatch inside, he would be in big trouble.
So, no matter how excited Lin Shen was in his heart, he didn’t rush to go down and steal those Ascension Eggs.
Having seen only the Ascension Eggs without any sign of the creatures that laid them, Lin Shen didn’t dare make any rash moves.
As Lin Shen wondered why he hadn’t seen their parents, he suddenly saw green magma surge, and one green Crystal Jade head after another popped out from within.
Shortly after, creatures looking like velociraptors, with six legs and a pair of claws, and a single horn on their heads—as if made of Blue Jade—emerged from the magma. They soared into the air and each landed within different caves.
Seeing this spectacle, Lin Shen shrank his neck and buried his head even lower. Below were all Ascended Creatures, numbering over a hundred. If he were discovered, he would probably have no place to be buried.
While the Ascended Creatures below were still calling and flapping about, Lin Shen quietly retreated from the Ring Mountain.
“Are there no Base Variant Creatures here?” Lin Shen didn’t give up and continued towards other Ring Mountains.
He needed to find some Base Variant Creatures first to ensure a steady food supply for the time being, before setting his sights on other targets.
On the vast lands, a Ring Mountain rose every few dozen miles. On such a large planet, Ring Mountains were everywhere one looked. It was hard to imagine just how many Ring Mountains there were. If each contained Ascended Creatures, it would be a terrifyingly unimaginable number.
If these Ascended Creatures were on the mother planet, humans would probably have long since had no room to survive.
Lin Shen visited several more Ring Mountains, where he found Ascended Creatures. Some Ring Mountains contained groups of them, while others had just a few or even one or two.
No matter the number, there were Ascended Creatures inside, but not a single Base Variant Creature.
What astonished Lin Shen was that with so many Ascended Creatures here, not one flew out of the Ring Mountains. Something felt off.
Even if those Ascended Creatures preferred the high-temperature environment inside the Ring Mountains over the cold outside, there must be some that would occasionally fly out for a look, even if by accident.
They were Ascended Creatures, after all, capable of flight. It made no sense for them to always nest inside the Ring Mountains.
No, none at all; in all the time Lin Shen had been on this planet, he had not seen a single creature outside the Ring Mountains.
Lin Shen felt certain there must be some reason why those Ascended Creatures were unwilling or unable to leave the Ring Mountains.
Contemplating this issue in his mind, Lin Shen arrived in front of another Ring Mountain.
This Ring Mountain was smaller than the others he had visited, its height not even half that of the taller ones, and its diameter much less.
Lin Shen quickly climbed to the peak and stealthily glanced down. This time, he was met with a surprise.
The bottom of this Ring Mountain didn’t have the green magma. This was the first time Lin Shen had seen a dry Ring Mountain.
Without the green magma, he could see the bottom covered in crystal formations that resembled asphalt. Judging by the dust on top, it had been a long time since any creature had been here.
To Lin Shen’s delight, there was an extraordinarily large egg below.
Because the egg was covered in thick dust, Lin Shen couldn’t tell if it was a Base Mutation Egg or an Ascension Egg.
It was more likely an Ascension Egg, considering he had been here so long without seeing a Base Variant Creature.
After carefully examining the interior of the Ring Mountain and finding no caves or similar places, and seeing just that one dusty egg below, Lin Shen let down his guard and summoned his mutated Black Armored Centipede to scout ahead.
After the mutated Black Armored Centipede made a round below and confirmed there was no danger, Lin Shen carefully made his way down inside the Ring Mountain and approached the egg.
