Chapter 713 - 713 So they were the ones behind all of this
713 So they were the ones behind all of this
“Is he the one who gave her highness the blueprint to the one-person carriage?”
“You got that right, Hibiscus. He is the man her highness has her eyes on.” Lucas answered.
Hibiscus frowned while looking at Vincent. “So he is the man who made her highness request me to stop researching a way to help heal her legs because she could move by herself without legs now.”
“Let’s stop the everyday chatter and get a grasp on the current situation. ” Karta ordered.
She moved her head to look around and saw a lot of injured Dullahans and Cefeyes. She needed to find out if both races were hostile or if they were friendly. She needed to know if they would fight or could provide assistance depending on the situation.
Karta walked forward and approached Vlad.
“Before I question what happened here in detail.” Karta crossed her arms and continued authoritatively, “Guild Master Vlad. What is the black throbbing thing in your hand? Why are your lips steaming as if you drank something very hot?”
“This? This is one of the five pieces remaining from what was defeated in this place.”
“And what are you doing with it?”
.....
*Tsk* “I hate women who ask too many questions.”
“And I hate men who do not answer my questions when the situation could be serious.”
Vlad and Karta glared at each other for a minute before Vlad decided he was wasting too much time for nothing. He ended up conceding unhappily.
“I believe you got injured by a strange demonic beast that didn’t know how to stay dead.” Vlad raised the black piece of flesh. “This is from a similar monster.”
Karta, Lucas, Hibiscus, and the five other people behind them looked at the black piece of flesh with a shocked expressions. They didn’t think there was another demonic beast of that level of resilience.
“Vincent killed a second one before killing this one. ” Mimi revealed.
“Vincent caused this destruction and not one of you?” Karta questioned.
“Ahem.” Lucas cleared his throat and forced himself to smile. “Haha. I knew giving Vincent a dozen mid-level fireball spells was a good idea.” He lied with a poker face.
Lucas winked at Mimi. “I guess the light allowed Vlad and his daughter to arrive before us, and they took care of what remained.”
“Huh? Are you spouting bull...”
“My father and I cut into pieces what apparently was an undead bear that did not know he to die. ” Mimi said, interrupting Karta and her suspicion about the truth.
*Tsk* “I need to suck the blood out of the parts and exterminate its recovery.” Vlad turned around.
“Don’t disturb me while I suck the filthy corrupted poisonous blood.” He said before jumping down the hole.
“Please do not mind my mannerless father.” Mimi briefly apologized. “We encountered a regenerating demonic beast. But not only was it strange, but its blood smelled unnatural.”
“Was it yellow?” Karta asked. This subject caught her attention, causing her to stop asking about how Vincent and the scrolls could possibly cause so much destruction.
“Yes. It was yellow, smelled pungent, and it was acidic. The demonic beast was obviously a grizzly bear, yet it was attuned with the element of the earth.”
Karta started to understand the situation better. She looked at Lucas and asked, “Do you suspect the same thing I am suspecting?”
“Yeah. My old friend Feng Mengli told me how the Broodmother Ant Queen had acidic yellow blood, and it kept regenerating as if it was undying.”
“Does it mean they are active again? I detest those crazy people calling themselves researchers when all they know is how to make the lives of others miserable.” Hibiscus angrily said.
Awa looked at Karta. She appeared to be the person with the most authority in her eyes. The way she spoke and her behavior felt like that of a leader.
“Vincent said they had mutated blood inside of them. He also mentioned that he saw the traits of a magic beast and a demonic beast with his goldy gaze.” She revealed to everyone.
Lucas frowned the most out of those beside him. He knew Vincent’s secret identity, and he became worried Vincent could get corrupted.
Lucas looked around him. He saw the Dullahans and the Cefeye acting cautiously as if they were worried about being attacked at any moment.
*Clap* “How about we help those that are injured? We now know the gist of what happened. We can ask later for more details.” Lucas said while he secretly glanced at Awa.
“My father is gravely injured. He lost a lot of blood, and Vincent did what he could by stopping the blood and giving him a plant leg to walk with...”
“What did you say?” Hibiscus interrupted Awa.
“Vincent gave me a blood-stopping blam, and when my father lost one leg, Vincent planted a seed in the stump, and a plant leg grew. ” Awa said before realizing she had said too much. She swiftly covered her mouth to stop talking.
Hibiscus opened her eyes wide. “I will want to see the blam later.” She told Awa before turning around, grabbing two of the people standing behind her, and rushing to the Dullahans.
“Haha. Hibiscus becomes possessed by her curiosity when a new medical discovery could be found or observed.” Lucas resoundingly nodded at Awa once and continued, “Your father will live because a certain someone will heal him and later observe the plant leg you mentioned.”
Awa wiped the tears of joy from her eyes. She thanked Vincent from the bottom of her heart because of what he kept doing for her.
Not only did Vincent attract the attention of rescuers who knew him, but her father was the first on the list to get healed, all because Hibiscus showed great interest in the newly grown limb seed leg.
Karta perceived they were going to stay for the night in the open field. The ground was black after getting burnt, and the temperature was pleasantly warm. However, they didn’t have shelter.
Hibiscus took two healers she had brought with her. Out of the remaining three, one was a royal soldier, and the other two were royal mages attuned to the wind element.
Karta turned around. “You three. Help me lift the fallen trees and chop down a couple more. We are going to build a couple of shelters to sleep under.”
The two royal mages and the royal soldier gulped. After peeking at a large number of people and creatures gathered in one place, they knew it was going to be an exhausting night.
Lucas was the only one left with nothing to do. He approached Vincent. He looked at Awa and noticed her legs trembling as if they were in pain.
“Are your legs injured?” He asked.
“Yes.”
Lucas sat down beside Awa. He extended his hand, and it shone brightly.
“While I heal your legs, how about we chat?” Lucas leaned his head and whispered, “Out of the others, I am the only one who knows about Vincent’s identity.”
Awa became surprised. “You know?” She asked to confirm.
“Duke Lucas was present when my father attacked Vincent. The fight was so bad that Vincent’s secret was exposed. Duke Lucas and the princess he serves have accepted Vincent as their ally.” Mimi explained.
“I can see from your expression you know something that you did not want to tell us.” Lucas stopped being serious and smiled while telling a joke, “But before that. Are you Vincent’s new woman? Haha.”
Awa blushed. She nodded gently.
Lucas stopped laughing. He looked at the sleeping Vincent and complained, “You are going to kill this old man with jealousy.”
“I heard Vincent needs to fight in an honorable fight to the death with four other family members.” Awa tapped her chest and curiously said, “I want to fight alongside Vincent and my new family.”
“Then we need to hurry. You and I need to marry Vincent to join and complete the team of five fighters. We will need to depart tomorrow, or we might not arrive in the city by Sunday morning.”
“Don’t worry about that, Mimi. ” Lucas said.
Lucas moved his gaze at Karta lifting dozens of burnt logs and using wind magic to scrape the burnt parts. He could see the construction was going to begin shortly.
“We received a strange report of trees shaking and falling in the far distance this early in the morning. After an emergency meeting was done, a soldier quickly informed us that he had just seen a green flash and green smoke lasting about a minute or so.”
“With the new information worrying us even further, we swiftly chose a small balanced team of three healers, three wind mages to transport us as fast as possible, and two swordsmen.”
“However, I had the idea of who caused the green light. I quickly sent a message to the Lionheart family. Many of the harem members wanted to come with us as they were worried Vincent was fighting.”
“So, they are on their way here?” Mimi asked.
“Yes. A few of the harem members were adamant about coming here to clear their worries. Also, because they were going to be involved in the judgment by combat, I asked Karta to leave a wind mage proficient in air travel for each girl coming here.”
“Did you make them come with the soldiers in order to keep them safe in the case of a dangerous battle?” Mimi asked.
“You catch on quickly. Additionally, the wind mages can help quicken their return to the city.”
