Stuck as a Villain!

Chapter 188: Messenger

Chapter 188: Messenger

Seth couldnt recall when was the last time he felt this relief upon finding the familiar face acquiring the leftmost throne.

He took a moment, to stabilize his breathing first before he advanced toward the aisleall while keeping his surroundings in consideration, in case any trap waiting to be triggered.

Maydeath and Anabelle also stick close to him, behaving like his meat shield, while the other two just stand at their spot, observing the place and looking for any evidence to recognize whom this palace belonged to.

The six figures standing tall and proud in the paintings gave off a noble vibe, which made these two interested to look out at their visage.

Hey, hey, put me on your shoulder. I will wipe the dust off. Aratas expression turned blank upon hearing the anonymous request of his friend. While the other three were involved in a touching reunion, these two would look like complete jokers in the background.

In the end, Arata took out a cloth from his bag and tied it around the tip of his blade before extending it toward the face of the first painting, located most near to the thrones.

On the other side, Seth and the party had already reached in front of Laila, as the former mentioned crouched down and examined the girl.

Other than her pale complexion, there didnt seem to be any problem. Her pulse was moving smoothly and so was her breathing rate. Apart from her unnaturally white shade, there didnt seem to be any issue at all.

Wasnt she kidnapped here for like twenty days? How does she still have so much fat? Since Lailas posture was a little tilted forward, her bountiful asset seemed fuller than usualmuch to Anabelles irritation.

Ignoring Anabelles grumbling, Seth pressed his index and middle finger against her foreheadonly to find his eyes widening and his fingers repulsed in an instant.

Anabelle frowned while Maydeath asked out her concern, What happened?

It was clear that Seth was trying to pry her mindscape but the reaction he portrayed was unexpected.

In a heavy and baffled tone, Seth responded, Sherejected my approachor more like there is a barrier inside her mind that is keen on keeping her memories sealed up.

Seths motive to read her memories was to identify the entity who was able to bring Laila so far without being caught and also, the possible reason why there was a guardian at the entrance of this vault.

However, Seth was met by an utter failure.

I think we should wake her up first, Maydeath suggested and Seth wordlessly nodded to that.

Anabelle released a strong smell of eucalyptus along with a condensed plant-based chemical as she rubbed her index finger against her thumb.

The cyan-shade gas found its way toward Laila's nose before the pink orbs of the girl appeared behind her lids.

"Haaaaah!" A long and heavy breath made its way out of Laila's throat as her body stretched on her seat.

Seth frowned as he held Laila's hand so she didn't fall off the seat. Just in case, Anabelle has prepared a scent that would immediately put her back to sleep.

Laila's breath remained unsteady while her body twisted at unusual angles. She clutched Seth's hand in a tight grip while trying to fight whatever demon possessed her mind.

Seth was on alert, just in case he needed to force himself inside her subconscious, but that opportunity didn't arrive as Laila's body slumped back on the throne.

It was then when suddenly, "Seth!"

All three standing on the aisle, turned upon Arata's panicked voice.

Saito had his eyes slightly widened as he looked at the painting near them, while Arata couldn't help but just point toward the same painting with a clear concern on his face.

Seth's brows creased but before he could take a look at the picture, a sudden blinding light erupted at the center of the passageway.

Everyone except Laila stood on their guard with their weapons and spells already prepared.

Seth just used his free hand to wield his dagger since the other one was in a tight hold of the pinkette. His eyes remained focused on the center of the light where someone was about to appear.

He had a bad feeling.

[My children. It's finally time to meet you all.]

Before the pillar of white light could have faded to reveal the figure of the person at its center, a voice akin to the divine call from heavens, resonated across the palace.

It wasn't loud but soothing...almost like a lullaby. However, none of the five wavered from their stance and gave in to the temptation.

"Who is it? Show yourself." Arata voiced out in a severe tone, with his legendary sword tightly gripped in his clutches and the tip pointing at the sudden appearance.

[Me? A messenger...an informer...whatever my children like to call me.]

The illumination began to recede as the figure of a woman appeared from behind the veil of nothingness.

"Messenger? Who sent you?" Arata frowned.

It seemed ridiculous at this point to ask, from whom she was sent, but it was also necessary to ascertain things before allowing this conversation to go on.

The pale white skin of the woman appeared from behind the curtain of light. She was wearing a strange kind of dress. It was like a one-piece dress that reached her ankle but there was some exposure of her skin at the sides of her lower abdomen, and also, her dress was slit down her thighs.

Her skin was deathly pale, identical to a sheet, and her pale white hair made it seem like she was nothing but a sculpture. Since her eyes were closed, there was no way of discerning her eye color but overall, she seemed anything but human.

[We all have enough time to talk about everything in detail and I suppose there must be various questions I need to answer.]

The woman raised her left hand, alerting others, before she pointed her finger in Seth's direction...or to be precise, at Laila.

[But first, let's start with her.]

Seth momentarily turned to look at Laila...only to widen his gaze when suddenly the girl jumped on him, with her eyes now brightly open.

However, unlike before she didn't possess pink orbs, rather dull yellow ones.

"Laila?" Seth stabilized himself before asking in an uncertain tone. He has never seen her behaving like this. And the surprising factor, she wasn't nervous or scared at all.

Laila parted her head from his chest before looking at Seth with a cheerful gaze, as some ridiculous words left her throat,

"Not Laila, it's your best friend. Kyo-chan, you remember?"
