Chapter 217: Deal
Chapter 217: Deal
When Leo arrived at Washington Stronghold, the place was a mess, with dead bodies strewn around the place, with people busy cleaning up the place, and not even a sign of that happiness from earlier is shown, as all of the survivors are wearing gloomy expressions as they burned the bodies of their former friends, family, husbands, wives or lovers.
Leo just stood there, as he looked at them with sadness in his eyes, realizing that he would probably become like them if he lost someone dear to him. He just sighed and made his way over to the President.
"It seems...you guys had suffered heavy losses especially...lives" Leo said as he tapped the shoulder of McKinley, who is busy directing his men.
'He is still keeping that tough outlook of his even though his eyes are full of grievances and grief' Leo thought when he saw his eyes.
"Ohh..you're here. Hmm...yes, if you didn't come, then there would have been even more casualties than now"
"Come, I'm pretty sure you didn't waste your time to come all the way here just to help us. I have the feeling that you have a business with me" McKinley said, and then he delegated some task to his men before he led Leo inside the Oval Office.
McKinley then sat at the presidential seat, while Leo carried a huge sofa and put it down in front of him and sat facing McKinley, and the atmosphere around them had became tense unlike before when they were still outside the office.
"So what have you got for me this time, Mr. Wood?"
"I have a hundred usable AK-74, and a huge cargo full of ammunition" Leo smiled, and sat leisurely.
"Really?" McKinley raised an eyebrow, but excited and happy inside as their camp really needs new weapons, especially firearms that are easy to learn and use.
If they had a hundred AK-74 and cargo full of bullets before they had faced the horde, then they wouldn't have suffered a lot from the zombie horde.
"Are golds and jewelry the form of payment again?"
"Of course, but if you give me all the gold stored below, along with the payment of the earlier deal of ten tonnes, then I would provide you fifty machine guns, along with a five million ammunition and tive Fox Hounds!" Leo grinned as his eyes shone with a bit of greed and joy just thinking how many weapons he could purchase with all the tonnes of gold he'll get.
McKinley just raised an eyebrow, but his legs hidden behind the desk are clearly shivering in excitement at the thought of having fifty machine guns and two fox hounds, but then he suddenly thought of a problem.
"But how will you deliver those? With how the world had turned, the sea might have been more dangerous than land, and even if you use the thing you rode to flew all the way here. I doubt that it could even lift two Fox Hounds, much less three million bullets"
"Hehe, you shouldn't worry about. I have my ways. What we should worry about is if you agree with my proposal?"
"Of course, we would have a deal but we have...over five hundred tonnes of gold. So in addition to what you have offered I want three hundred AK-74s with five million in ammunition and five battle tanks along with a hundred rounds! I'm pretty sure you have working battle tanks if you even have Fox Hounds"
Leo creased his eyebrows when he heard his demand while Mckinley observe his expressions with cold sweat, his hands are already sweating a lot from nervousness as he wasn't sure that Leo would accept it as he was just taking the gamble that Leo would be able to provide those.
"How about this? Instead of three hundred, then I would give you give a thousand AK-74s and two battle tanks with one hundred and seventy rounds instead of five battle tanks, what do you think?"
Leo counter offered while wearing a cold expression, but the edge of his lips can't help but twitch as he tried to stop himself from laughing in happiness!
'Haha! Jackpot! Over five hundred tonnes of gold! I wonder how many weapons I could buy with that!?' Leo thought in happiness.
After all, a kilogram of gold could be exchanged for 20,000 in sterling currency in the item shop, and with five hundred tonnes where he could exchange it into ten billion pounds!
Of course it might sound a lot but with how expensive the things inside the item shop are, it would just be a trickle, but Leo could at least fully arm an entire army with that!
Every single one of them armed to the teeth!
Then he could make them combed through the surroundings of their bases and clean up zombies and mutated beasts, securing important places like mines, small forest and the likes!
"Okay, you got a deal!" McKinley immediately stood up and offered his hand towards Leo, seemingly afraid that he would change his mind.
"Great!" Leo said, as he also stood up and shook McKinley's hand.
After that, Leo told him that he'd need half of the payment first before he could start their deal. At first, McKinley hesitated but then immediately agreed as he knows they wouldn't be the one losing out on this deal.
After all, McKinley is not an idiot, who would want to exchange important weapons like firearms for golds that doesn't have value anymore? So he'd had already guess that Leo must need the gold and doesn't have the time to just fly all the way here to scam them when he could just rob the gold stored at many banks back in his country.
McKinley then led him underground through a secret path below the presidential desk, and a few moments of walking through a dark stairway, what greeted them at the end of the tunnel is a long underground warehouse, with gold bars stacked over each other in a rectangular shape.
With the place only illuminated by the torchlight in their hands, but Leo on the other hand doesn't have any problem peering through the darkness.
"Now, that's a lot of gold" Leo grinned as he walked over towards a stack of gold bars and caressed them like how a man caressing the skin of his woman.
"I can get some men to help you transport them out" McKinley suggested.
"No need" Leo said, and gestured with his hand for McKinley to leave him alone.
McKinley was puzzled at first, but still left in the end with a head full of curiosity.
Leo stood there, and waited for McKinley to disappear, and only when he heard the entrance shutting off, he smiled.
"Okay!" Leo clenched his fist and yelled in joy.
'With this amount of gold, I could finally arm an entire army of survivors and turn them into soldiers! All armed to the teeth! And I could use the leftover to upgrade the defenses of my walled communities, and by then I wouldn't worry about them being overrun by zombies before reinforcements could even arrive!'
After that dancing in joy, Leo started storing half of the gold in the warehouse inside his [Inventory] space, and exchanged them to sterling where he immediately started purchasing the things that he had agreed with McKinley.
Leo then bought eleven thousand AK-74, each with a price tag of 3000, and ten thousand M4 carbine with a price tag of 1400 a piece, along with a mixture of ten million bullet rounds, two thousand tank rounds that cost 5000 a piece and finally five Fox Hounds and HUMVEEs for a total of eighty million pounds!
Leo then made his way back above ground, where McKinley and a few soldiers are waiting for him at the Oval Office while discussing something with each other.
"So how are we going to complete this deal, Mr. Wood?" McKinley smiled at him and said, while the other people inside the office just stood at the side and curiously looked at Leo with respect in their eyes.
"Don't worry about it, my men are already preparing them and would arrive here the soonest" Leo smiled.
"This..don't tell me they would fly all the way here?"
"Of course, you already saw how I got here, don't worry. There aren't that many mutated birds in the skies, unlike the sea where its teeming with mutated beasts"
"I see, then we will await the day that they arrive here"
