Chapter 203: Military Camp
Chapter 203: Military Camp
"I hope that kid notice that pistol I purposely dropped on the road" Leo muttered hopefully for the kid to see that gun.
They continued moving through the road as they passed by the scenery of overgrown rice stalks at both sides of the road.
Leo sighed to himself when he saw his surroundings, "Ai! So much rice that have been abandoned and left to grow. Do they even grow this big? Must have been the change in the Earth's atmosphere"
"Hey, slow down for a bit" Leo suddenly tapped the side of the Demonic Lion as he noticed something inside the rice field.
The Demonic Lion slowed down in his steps as Shade stopped beside a small building that read "Ando's Bakery"
But this bakery wasn't the reason why Leo had made the Demonic Lion stopped in its tracks, but the thing sticking out like mushroom behind the building!
Leo jumped into the rice and cut them down with a swipe of his hands, and then he walked over the back of the building and gazed at the thing he came here for.
It was a huge rice stalk that towers over the four meter tall building behind it, and the plant has a lot of rice grains in it.
[Sunlit Rice Stalk - an ordinary rice talk that mutated. It can produce a total of fifty kilograms of rice grains every two months. It has the ability to illuminate its surroundings at night like an oversized firefly]
"Fuck me!" Leo cursed in surprised when he read the description of the plant provided by the [System].
"Does that mean that this thing is multi purpose now!?" what surprised Leo is not because the plant had mutated and can produce fifty kilos of rice grains every two months, but instead because the thing could act like a natural lamp post now!
"I know that the world turned had turned crazy in a day, but this one's craziness is truly next level shit! That's some next level rice stalk jedi shit!"
"System, can I replant this thing?" Leo asked loudly towards the air.
[Yes!] the voice of the [System] rang beside his ears.
"So, do I just pull it out from its roots or will I need some tools?"
[Pulling it out directly is feasible, after all, these plants are already sturdier than their previous forms]
"Oh?" Leo sounded as he walked over to the plant, and pulled it off from the ground.
*Shawah!*
Dirt flew everywhere, as the plant had thick roots like a ginseng plant.
Leo immediately threw it inside his [Inventory], and then he jumped towards the roof of the bakery and started looking around at the rice field surrounding him.
"Oh! There's another one over there!" Leo smiled as he made his way over, he was truly happy about this new discovery. After all, he could save a lot of fuel in powering up the lamp posts back at Hope 101.
Organic lamp is truly the greatest!
"Those researchers would surely lose their heads over this" Leo grinned as he threw another inside his [Inventory] space.
He continued looking around for over an hour, and successfully gained fourteen more of the [Sunlit Rice Stalk], even the Demonic Lion had grown bored watching him and just went to sleep in the middle of the road.
Leo went over and woke the Demonic Lion up, "Come on! Let's go! I'm done here!" he said as he shook the lion.
*Roar~*
The Demonic Lion slowly stood and roared softly as it stretched it body.
Leo then immediately rode on its back, and continued on their journey.
A few minutes later, they finally arrived at their destination.
A village in the outskirts of a town called Pasuquin, and what's well known about his village is that a small military camp is situated around here.
Leo got down from the back of the Demonic Lion, and then turned around and said, "Stay here and kill any zombies that comes close"
*Roar~*
The Demonic Lion just roared in reply, before slumping on the ground and started to go to sleep.
Leo just smiled helplessly at it and thought to himself, 'Truly a male lion, sometimes they are lazy, sometimes they're not'
Leo took out his two Desert Eagles, and started walking around the village.
Some zombies noticed him, and so they started staggering towards his direction while as they moaned disgustingly.
They sounded like zombies in heat or something!
Leo suddenly came to a halt as he finally realized something, "I just noticed it...but why are there only regular zombies around villages and small towns? But cities had a lot of concentration of mutated zombies and mutated beasts instead, is there something special in cities that it attracts the mutated?"
Bang!
Leo shot a zombie that got too close, before continuing to walk around as he continued to mumble to himself at what he had just discovered.
Then a few minutes later, Leo finally arrived at the gates of the military camp, and on his way here, he had never even seen a single soul around, even his [Map] can't detect anyone around the village which creeps him out at the thought that he's the only living human here, surrounded by the dead.
Leo just walked inside, and the first thing he noticed are the still visible tire tracks on the ground.
"Hmm...it seems they left in a hurry. I may not be a tracker, but these tracks are still fresh, probably around 2-3 days ago or more?" Leo mumbled to himself as he squatted down and touched the tire tracks along the mud, and the tracks are very chaotic as they came from every direction of the military camp, as they interconnected with each other.
"That means there was still a working military here three or so days ago, must be the reason why I saw a lot of sandbags thrown at the entrance of the camp. They must have used it as a wall" Leo stood up and looked around his surroundings.
"Being all alone here feels like I'm that guy in the "I Am Legend" movie, except my pet is huge black lion and I'm a looting "Bandit", while the guy in the movie is trying to find and develop a cure for the virus that struck his world" Leo smiled as he just remembered one of his favorite movies.
"Well..enough about his. I need to see if there are still things lying around here" Leo said as he patted his pants.
Leo started looking around the camp, and he noticed that there were only a few things that were left behind except for the cooking utensils and things inside a bedroom, as he had only seen a few firearms that was left behind, like a pistol with no magazine, boxes of bullets or just live bullets lying around, bibles etc.
And the only rare thing he had just got is an M-16 carbine lying beside a bed in one of the Captain's quarters.
Leo continued looking for his purpose in coming here, and finally after half an hour of looking around, he finally found it in an inconspicuous place.
"F*ck me, they really know how to hide things" Leo smiled helplessly, as he stood behind the biggest structure inside and stared at the small pathway that leads underground.
And beside Leo's feet is a destroyed door with words written on it, "Arms Warehouse"
Leo took out a flashlight from his [Inventory] and immediately walked inside, there is only a small stairs at the entrance and short pathway after that, before he reached a spacious room...with almost nothing inside except for two huge and small crates lying beside one of the pillars.
"They seriously almost took everything huh? They were even so kind that they still left two crates here" Leo just smiled helplessly as he shined towards the two crates and walked over.
Leo ripped them open with one hand, and inside the largest one, is a lot of M1911 pistols lying around a bunch of straw, and the smaller crate has five ammo box inside.
"Why are they covered in straws?" Leo mumbled as he even thought that these pistols came from the black market.
"Well, I don't really care as long as they work" Leo said as he picked one of them, and then he went over to the other crate and opened one of the ammo boxes, and inside were full .45 ACP bullets.
"Hmm..they must left this on purpose" Leo smiled, after all, a pistol that uses caliber .45 and was left here along with its needed bullets couldn't be that coincidental.
Leo then immediately threw them inside his [Inventory] space and walked out of there.
