Stronghold In The Apocalypse

Chapter 188: Survivor Camp

Chapter 188: Survivor Camp

Leo is now just standing ten meters from them, with his hands raised in the air, and he still has that smile on his face even though multiple improvised firearms is pointed towards him.

"What's up? Care to let me pass or...in?" Leo said as he tilted his head, as he wasn't sure what proper words he should use.

Suddenly, a youth who probably has a bossy attitude started yelling at him, "What's up your face! W-who the fuck are you?" he sounded arrogant, but his voice is clearly tinged with fear. After what he had seen earlier? I'd probably shit my pants if I were in his shoes, after all, the person in front of them is either friendly or evil.

Leo suddenly glared at him, which made the youth shut his mouth, "Shut your mouth and let the adults talk"

The youth's eyes immediately bulged in anger and just as he was about to cursed him.

"You-"

"Shut your trap!"

A domineering voice suddenly exploded behind them, and when the youth turned around, he saw a man wearing a black windbreaker jacket and beach shorts, and because of it, Leo noticed multiple scars on the man's legs.

The man then jumped over the barricade and walked in front of Leo as both of them started observing each other.

"Who are you? What business do you here" the man asked Leo.

Leo just smiled, and said, "Just passing by, but I didn't know that the road here is already blocked and occupied by" Leo didn't finish, as he looked at the man in front of him from head to toe before he continued, "Someone"

The man didn't mind him and just said, "One bottled water and one of any kind of food, per person"

"Tsk" Leo clicked his tongue, and took his bag from his back and opened it and took out one bottle of water and a cup of noodles and handed it to the man in front of him.

Actually, Leo could have just beaten them up and leave, but he decided not to as this people are also struggling to survive in the Apocalypse, so it's fair that he plays by their rules.

"Let him pass!" the man said, and his men immediately pulled one of the barricades aside, just enough for a motorcycle to pass through.

After that, Leo acted like he was going to get his bike, and when he arrived at his original position earlier, he summoned his Harley behind an abandoned car so the people watching him couldn't see what he was doing, and they just thought that he probably just went to get his ride.

*Vroom~!*

Leo ignored them as he just drove passed them, and Leo saw that there are tents and people on both sides of the road, some are watching him while the others just focused on what they are doing, and he even saw a group of people building small houses.

"Not really a secured place to build a camp" Leo said, as he drove passed another barricade, leaving this group of survivors behind.

A few moments earlier.

"Are we really just going to let him go?" the youth earlier, asked their leader, as he sounded disgruntled and angry

"Why? Do you want to fight a mutant?" the man in windbreaker glared at him.

"N-no" the youth immediately shook his head as he stepped back, as he just realized that he scolded their leader.

"Then shut up! I'll tell you now, even if all of us ganged up on him, all of us would certainly die, and I don't want that as there a lot of people relying on us" the man said as he looked at the various expressions of his men.

"Impossible! You're also a mutant sir! And even if the man earlier is also a mutant, I doubt that he could handle all of us firing at him at the same" one of them protested when he heard those words.

Their man grinded his teeth in frustration hearing his men's words, that it's starting to annoy him.

"Just think of yourselves as lucky to survive in front of him, as a former mercenary, I don't kid around with my words"

The man said, before leaving them alone, followed by his own crew.

The young man stared at his back, and grinded his teeth and muttered, "Cowardly bastard, sooner or later, I will step over your dead body and become this place new boss"

*****

A few hours later.

Leo reached a town called Boston, near the coastal area.

"Hmm..." Leo saw zombies roaming aimlessly in the streets, and through his [Map], he could spot a group of people moving around town, probably in search of supplies.

"I thought I saw the life signals of a Darkseeker here" Leo muttered as he continued to findle around with his [Map].

"Strange, did it already left?" Leo said while looking around, and at the same time he killed a zombie that was about to bite him with a punch.

"Damn bitch, wasting my time" Leo grinded his teeth in annoyance.

"Now, how do I go from here?" Leo muttered while findling on his [Map], "Hmm? There's a cluster of survivors here" Leo saw a group of survivors around fifty staying in a particular location inside the town.

*Vroom!*

Leo then drove towards the direction where the survivors are gathered while dodging and ignoring those zombies trying to attack him.

"F*ck off!" Leo cursed as he punched a [Hunter] Zombie that pounced towards him.

[You have killed a [Level 43 Hunter] Zombie! Received 7,737 Defender Coins!]

*Swish~!*

Suddenly, a grey like tentacle shot towards him and wrapped towards his neck.

Leo immediately stopped his bike and put his hands around the tentacle and pulled it towards him, and the zombie on the side of the tentacle flew towards him like a beaten rag doll.

"Disgusting prick!" Leo grabbed the [Striker] Zombie's head and slammed in the cold concrete ground.

*Squash!*

[You have killed a [Level 47 Striker] Zombie! Received 9,107 Defender Coins!]

"Dammit! I really hate [Strikers]! They stink like hell!" Leo cursed as he rolled off the tentacle around his neck and angrily threw it on the ground, before he continued to drive towards his original destination.

After he left, someone actually saw the scene of him beating those mutant zombies easily.

"What the heck? Is that person even human?" a young man, probably a college kid said with amazement in his voice.

"Of course, he's human Ariel...it's just that he's too powerful from an ordinary human..if you know what I mean" another guy commented as they watched Leo's departing figure from the building window.

"Are you telling me that he's the same as Gordon?" Ariel said, looking a bit surprised.

Currently, there are ten people inside the building, six of them are men while the rest are women, and based on their aura alone, they sure have a story of their own, as they weren't even bothered about the zombie banging on the door of the room they are staying at.

"Should we follow him? He's clearly headed towards the survivor camp" Ariel said, as he did noticed Leo clearly heading towards the survivor camp just by seeing the corner he turned into earlier.

"Let's go then" a man stood up while holding two machetes in both hands, and he seems to be the leader of this group.

After that, this group of people burst out of the building and ran towards the location of the survivor camp by moving through the roads that they already cleared off zombies, and for the time being, quite safe.

"Hmm? It seems there are people following me" Leo said as he noticed some group of people headed his way.

Leo stopped in the middle of the road as his bike slid forward and into a zombie, sending it flying and killing it, and then he stored his bike in his [Inventory]. After all, his destination is just a street block away from him.

"I wonder what they want" Leo said, as he sat at a nearby bench while killing the zombies heading towards him, with a M4 Carbine with a suppressor

*Tsuk!*. *Tsuk!* *Tsuk!*

*****

"Eh?""What?""The heck?"

Those were the first words they uttered the moment they exited the alleyway, as they saw the man they were planning to see, sitting on a bench and shooting zombies that are heading towards him.

Then they saw him standing up and turned towards them, and said to them with a grin on his face, "Well, took you long enough to get here. So, mind telling me of why are you following me?"

They didn't know what to say as they just looked at each other, but the most calm of them all is certainly their leader as he immediately stepped forward and greeted Leo.

"Hello, I'm Derek, the de facto leader of this group of survivors. We meant no harm and just wanted to see if you were heading towards the nearby survivor camp here" Derek politely said, as he could certainly feel that the person in front of them is no ordinary, just based on what they saw when they just arrived here

"I see, then lead the way" Leo smiled and gestured towards them.

They helplessly looked at each other, thinking that they just boarded a pirate ship where they can't get off, especially with the guy being armed with a gun.

"Alright" Derek helplessly accepted as he really didn't want to make an enemy of this guy, who takes zombies lightly, seemingly unafraid, especially knowing that there are chances of this guy being a mutant, so for Derek, it wasn't so bad if they are able to make friends with him.

After that, the group lead the way while they killed the zombies around them, even Leo was surprised that they could even kill a mutated zombie when they all team, after all, even his men needed three people to take down a mutated zombie and those soldiers had even undergo multiple life and death situations just to reach their level of skills today.

But along the journey, no one talked except when they are killing zombies as they needed to coordinate with each other.

But someone broke the ice, and it was a woman in her early thirties, "Hello, I'm Emily"

"Leo" Leo said without much of a change in his expression, its like he didn't even see a beautiful woman beside him.

"Uhmm..if it isn't too much to ask, are you a mutant?" Emily asked, and others immediately perked up their ears as they are also curious about it.

Leo just smile helplessly at them, as he can't really tell them to f*ck up just because they are curious about him, and so he answered them with a bit of unwillingness, "Yes, I am a mutant"

"Wow! That is awesome! I wanted to become one too, but I just can't seem to awaken" one of younger guys exclaimed loudly.

Leo just smiled at him, 'What awaken? After all, becoming a mutant entirely depends on the situation you're in' he almost wanted to laugh, but he just kept it in even though the word 'Awaken' sounded cliche like from Animes or movies.

"Then what it your ability?" said Emily with eyes full of interest and then she continued, "The leader of the survivor group we are heading towards to has the ability to transform and become a werewolf"

"I can transform into a werebear" Leo grinned widely, as he looked really cool when he transforms into his [Beast Form].

"Ohh~ so that's why you are really strong that you even manhandled two of mutant zombies earlier" one of the girls commented on the side, as she behead a zombie with her huge ass axe.

"Eh...that's really not a great way to describe" Leo said, as her words felt like he just did something horrible to the zombies.

"Nevermind about her, what is your purpose for coming here? I'm sure you're not from around here, right?" Emily said, as she glared at the woman before smiling at Leo. Her actions clearly showed that she has some motives at trying to talk and get close to Leo.

"Yup, I'm just travelling around as I'm looking for someone, and I came all the way from Cambridge' Leo said, as he didn't even bother trying to lie towards them.

"What!? That's so far from here! Then you must really be powerful if you're able to travel all the way here all alone" Ariel exclaimed as he tried to dodge a [Hunter] Zombie pouncing towards him, but Leo shot the zombie instead when it was about to kill him.

"T-thanks" Ariel said, as his face was covered in cold sweat and he looked really pale.

"Focus on your enemies! Don't let your focus wander around" Derek scolded him.

Emily didn't even care at what happened earlier as she focus her attention towards Leo, "Wow, then you must be really powerful, huh? After all, zombies aren't the only enemies of us humans" she said, as she even squeezed her voluptuous chest in front of Leo.

Even Leo had the urge to give her two melons a tight squeeze, but in the end, he still fought the urge to do it, because flirting with this woman wasn't his purpose by asking them to guide him earlier.

But in the end, he still wasn't able to resist the temptation and gave it a few squeezes with his hand. After all, this asshole is still a man in the end.

"Ahnn~" Emily blushed as she moaned softly.

After that, Leo tried his best to ignore her, by instead focusing on the zombies attacking them more frequently now.

And Emily on the other hand didn't mind, as she thought that she had already gotten his interest on her and the only thing remaining is for something to happen between.

But her companion on the other hand, felt a bit disgusted about what she's doing as she already done this multiple times to people that are strong enough to impress, but even with their feelings, they still decide to ignore what she is doing, and it's not like she wouldn't share it to them if she's able to get something good from the men she had successfully seduced.

But unfortunately for her, she didn't know that Leo only did that in the spur of the moment, and he really isn't interested in her.

Because this time, his goal was to convince this group who is with him and those people within the survivor camp that they're headed to join him. After all, every mutant that joins him would bolster their military might even by a little bit.

After all, mutants are the primary front runners in the army and with more of them, means that there would be more people that would be able to lead to go outside and do some supply runs or complete missions, but that doesn't mean that non-mutant soldiers are not being treated fairly, and in actuality, there are more non-mutants that are officers than the mutants.

Why? Because the primary jobs of mutants are to clean up territories, and the rest of their time is spent in however they want, and they would still have the same treatment as those high ranking soldiers.

*****

A few minutes later, they arrived in front of a walled mansion with a huge courtyard, with people watching over them from what looks like a watch tower or something similar.

"Halt! Derek, who is the new guy you brought with you guys?" a man from the wall asked, while holding something that looks like a spear of sorts.

"A friend, and we came as he seems to be looking for someone and we thought that there might be a chance the person he is looking for is here" Derek said, with a smile on his face.

But Leo on the other hand, didn't know whether he should laugh or cry, as Derek was clearly lying through his teeth. After all, he didn't really say that the person he's looking is here.

"Alright, but you know the rules, weapons are to surrendered once inside" the man said, as gate the gate opened before them.

Derek's group went inside one by one and surrendered their weapons followed by Leo, as he nonchalantly handed over his gun but because he didn't want to be taken advantage off, he took out the magazine and put it inside his bag and he even did it in front of the guard.

"Make sure to treat her well"

Leo said to the guard, before following Derek's group and with Emily sticking close with him again.

"Right~" the guard bitterly smiled, as he did have plans to even never return it to him, as firearms are really rare right now, much less an automatic rifle, but now that it has no bullets, it became useless.
