Chapter 25 Conversation
"Sydney doesn't know about this." Izora whispered.
"hmm?"
"That man sends her to a big school, pays for her expenses and keeps her in the dark."
"… then what do they tell her about you?" Ethan asked softly.
"They let me occasionally meet her. Under heavy monitoring of course. I have told her that they have given a loan at a good interest rate to me for her education and our daily expenses. So I am mostly working to pay off the loan… I tell her that everything is alright. That we will have a good future." Izora choked. "I… sometimes I feel like I should take the chance and kill both of us. I am such a shitty mother."
Ethan held her tightly. "No, you aren't."
"But then when I see her smile, I think that it's alright. Maybe things will improve when she ages up. There are still many years so maybe she will break free later on. I just have to endure it for now… endure it…"
Izora then softly said, tightly clutching Ethan. "Now you got your answers didn't you? Please leave now. I'll make some excuse for the wall breakage. I-I don't want anyone else to suffer because of me."
Izora stopped hugging him and looked at him with bloodshot eyes, begging him to leave.
Ethan stared at her silently, and after a few moments, cupped her face and softly kissed her. She felt salty because of her tears.

After kissing her, he nodded. "Okay, I'll leave."
Then he saw Izora placing the dagger and bulletless gun back to their places. She took out a new camera and set it up. Izora asked for five hundred novas that she would give to Sam or Tim as a proof that she only had a customer.
Nova was the universal currency of Helen. During the dark age, many major steps were taken and one of them was only using a single currency–Nova.
Then Izora dressed up and sat on the bed with a blank gaze.
After thirty minutes, that felt like eternity, someone slammed on the door and growled, "Slut open the door."
Izora's body trembled, she bit her lips, took a few deep breaths and went to open the door.
She immediately stepped back, making distance from the door. Sam menacingly entered, irritation clear on his face.
"Kim said that you were at it for hours. Just how many men did you take in at the same time?" He snorted.
"Man, I am so pissed. Damn I need to vent it out." He clutched her wrists tight, ignoring her pale face and started pulling her towards the bed.
But then he froze when he saw the hole on the wall. His face reddened in anger as he roared. "What the fuck bitch?!"
He had clutched her so hard that she yelped in pain and said in a sobbing voice, "Master, let me expla—"
But Sam didn't give a fuck. He was already so pissed that his retarded son got captured by the police. He turned around and threw a punch at her.
At that moment, everything froze.
With a sigh, Ethan entered the room from the window. He had hidden somewhere nearby and continuously monitored the surroundings by divine sense. He observed that with passing time he was getting better at using it.
This was something that Ethan didn't want to back off, no matter how dangerous it was. First, it involved Sasha. Second, he hated this damned gang to the core. Third, Ethan had a strong feeling that this was the destiny event. Fourth, if he left Izora alone, there was a chance that she might be tortured to death or anything would have happened.
For Izora to endure this shit for so long, she wasn't a weak woman but still torture could have made her leak information about him. So he had to move.
And so he did, he rushed to Sam's side, who was clearly the father of the lanky goon who got the worse beating earlier.
Ethan shoved Sam down with force and mercilessly kicked him all over his body. "Like son, like father," he spat, tugging on Sam's hair and giving him several tight slaps.
After a minute of letting out his rage, Ethan pulled Sam onto a chair and took out a set of handcuffs and thick brown tape from a nearby drawer. It was clear that they were for Izora.
He wasn't sure if Sam could break free from this. But at least through Izroa he knew that he had not awakened any power. He used all this to tie him up on the chair. Ethan had already taken out the bastard's various ids, weapons and all.
Ethan then took out a rope from somewhere else and slowly started tying him up more. When he was halfway done, the chronostasis ability effect stopped.
Izora looked around, completely confused and baffled. Sam was also bewildered but then started struggling, earning another slap from Ethan. "Stop moving," Ethan growled but Sam didn't stop.
Etha frowned, took out the empty gun, and pressed it on his cheeks. "Now move."
Sam's eyes widened in fear.
Izora finally got out of her stupor and asked in a confused voice, "Ethan, what just happened?"
Ethan simply said, "I am a mystic."
"Ah!"
Ethan tied the final knot and heard Izora's saying, "Ethan still you are alone and…."
He stood up and asked, "So you expect me to back off now?"
Izora was speechless. "Still–"
Ethan sighed and walked up to her. He gently touched her face and said, "Don't worry about me. We are in this together now."
She looked into his blue eyes, dazed, and then softly nodded.

Next he was going to interrogate this bastard but his cell phone started to ring. The caller was 'Boss'.
Ethan frowned. What should he do now?
Izora suddenly said, "Sam never misses the boss' phone. They always keep the conversation small and start with a code. This boss curses a lot and Sam is pretty fearful of him."
"You know the code?"
Izora nodded. "It's 'pink panther'."
Ethan smiled at her. It was great that she had calmed down and was thinking properly. Ethan would have made many mistakes if not for her.
Sam groaned on the side and looked at her with venom in his eyes. If glaring could kill, he would have killed this bitch hundred times!
He gave the gun to her, her eyes widened. But she knew that it didn't have a bullet so she only appeared to be hesitant but she wasn't.
Ethan placed a knife on Sam's throat and warned him. Seeing him nodding with pale face, he accepted the phone, and kept the speaker on.
A hoarse voice sounded. "What's the code?"
Sam said, "Pink panther," trying his best to sound normal.
The boss started to curse. "Fuck you Sam! What the hell did your kids do?! They got fucking captured by the police!"
"B-boss I wanted him many times but he didn't listen."
"Fuck your mother! Fuck your family!" he growled. "I am so pissed."
"What should we do now, boss?"
"It's your mess. I won't do shit."
Sam bit his lips and asked in hesitation, "Then should I ask help from Fuse?"
This made the boss lose his control and he started to curse even more. Calling this 'Fuse' son of a whore and many other vulgar things. Ethan frowned and pressed the knife on his throat, creating a line of blood.
Sam's eyes widened in fear, he looked up at him in a begging gaze. Ethan mouthed him to quickly end this and stopped pressing the dagger.
Sam gulped. "P-please stop boss!"
To Izora and Ethan's surprise, the boss actually stopped. Then after a few moments of silence, his serious voice sounded.
"I know you are there. I don't know who you are but you have made a big mistake."
Sam's shoulder suddenly started shaking. His eyes became a slit as he started laughing. "hehehehe."
Ethan really felt like slitting his throat when the boss said in a solemn voice. "Okay I won't care who you are but leave Sam alone. If even a single hair falls from his stupid head, we will make your life worse than hell."
Ethan and Izora exchanged glances, speechless.
Just who was this Sam? And how the heck did the boss find out that Sam was in danger?
