Chapter 141: The Battle Between Soul Manipulators

Chapter 141: The Battle Between Soul Manipulators

Translator: blackberrry Editor: blackberrry

Lucky and the Faerie Dragon chose the most common way of battle between Dragons, Physical Brawl. Faeria Dragons in nature did not like physical brawls, but it might had been because it could see that Lucky was smaller, thus had decided to go ahead with it.

Lucky was a Saint Dragon Rank Black Dragon, and did not lack in ferocity, viciousness or skills in a physical brawl. The moment the two Dragons clashed, Lucky quickly bit down on the Faerie Dragon's neck. Dragons mostly relied on their teeth in battles amongst their own race, due to the fact that their scales were extremely durable and their claws could usually do no harm. As for Magical Attacks, it was hardly used, a Dragon's resistance to Magical Attacks were usually extremely high, and aside from the Faerie Dragons that possessed extremely high Magical Attacks as well, majority of the other Dragons species could not harm others with Magical Attacks, thus the outcome of the battles between Dragons were mostly with their teeth.

Lucky's bite on the Faerie Dragon's neck meant that he had gained the advantage, but a pity that the Faerie Dragon was much bigger than Lucky, and with a flick, it wrested its neck out from Lucky's bite.

Upon failing the neck strike, Lucky turned his attention towards the Faerie Dragon's wings. Due to the pain, the Faerie Dragon struggled and tried to claw Lucky off its back frantically, but the durable dragon scales did not fear the dragon claws in the slightest. Sparks were ignited on Lucky's best due to the strong friction between the claws and the scales, which sounded like metal scratching on glass.

After a few attempts, the Faerie Dragon realized that using claws was futile and used its tail to strike at Lucky, at the same time struggling free successfully. Lucky seemed to have anticipated the Faerie Dragon's advantage in ranged Magical Attacks, thus he made sure that the Faerie Dragon did not escape far, no matter how it tried to struggle free, Lucky would persistently chase after it without giving it a chance to catch a breather. In truth, Lucky's actions brought him great advantages, the Faerie Dragon knew that although it was higher level than Lucky, but it was useless against the tyrannical Black Dragon, it was constantly trying to find an opportunity to distance itself from Lucky, but Lucky never gave it the opportunity. Furthermore, the double damage property of the Dragon Crown allowed for Lucky to tear a hole on the Faerie Dragon's body every time he bit down on it.

The Faerie Dragon suddenly used its tail and struck Lucky into the air, causing Lucky to spin a few times before being able to stabilize, but the Faerie Dragon had already used this short break to pull a distance between them. Suddenly, an angelic song came out around us.

Phantom immediately warned me: "Be careful, that's the Faerie Dragon's Magical attack!"

"Is it very powerful?"

"I don't know, but every magic casted with Dragon Language are all world devastating!"

The song of the magical attack suddenly ended and a white vortex appeared in front of the Faerie Dragon, while Lucky brought forth a gale and rushed forward, hoping to break the magical attack. It was a pity, right when Lucky was 10 metres away from the vortex, the vortex flickered with a light, and shot out a water droplet shaped Magic Missile. Lucky swerved to avoid the Magic Missile, and I initially thought that it would be fine, but the Magic Missile actually curved its angle and flew towards me instead.

As expected from the Dragon race, their intellect were truly something no other mobs could compare. Right from the start, the Faerie Dragon never saw Lucky as its opponent, it had always been targeting, it might had figured that once it got rid of me, Lucky would never stand a chance! I clumsily dodged to the side, but it was a pity that the Faerie Dragon's Magic Missile was homing, and could constantly turn towards me. Right when I thought that could no longer dodge, Tank suddenly appeared in front of me.

BOOM! The Magic Missile struck directly on Tank's body. The armor in which the Magic Missile landed on immediately burst into a pale green spot, but in the Companion box, I could clearly see that Tank did not even care about that attack, this little injury was nothing to Tank, who was a Mob with extremely thick armor and specialized in defense.

Tank had just obstructed the Magic Missile for me when the Flying Ant shot over from behind with lightning speed and with a BANG, it collided with Tank and got him flying. Although Tank had managed to obstruct the Magic Missile for me, but the Flying Ant had managed to push him away from behind, leaving me defenseless and alone against the Flying Ant, in which I had no way to escape! Luckily, the Flying Ant was in a stunned state from the collision and had not recovered. I instantly unleashed my Triple Bladed Claws and took the opportunity to fly onto its back. I landed right on its Thorax, and ferociously plunged both my fists towards my feet, the long Bladed Claws immediately pierced through the Flying Ant's transparent wings (Flying Ant's wings are similar to Dragonflies, however they extend out backwards).

Sensing the pain from its back, the Flying Ant immediately flipped over in an attempt to shrug me off. I released my right arm and leaned towards the Flying Ant's left wing and was successfully shrugged off, but not before I successfully pulled out a 2 meter long slit on its wing with my Bladed Claw. This immediately caused the Flying Ant to have difficulty flying.

"Aldeina!" I summoned Mermaid Princess Aldeina, the situation was tougher than expected, and as she could support and heal, she could help ease the tension. Aldeina did not know we were in the air, upon appearing, she immediately screamed as she plunged into the clouds, but very quickly she flew up once more. Aldeina's advanced flight spell was extremely powerful, although she could not fly and fight at the same time, but she could maintain her flight while using some Heals and other simple supporting Magic Spells.

"Why are we in the sky?" Aldeina floated to my side and asked me, I immediately pushed her away, just in time to avoid the Flying Ant that suddenly swoop in between us.

"Use your Magic to support us from the side, I don't have time now, I'll get Phantom to explain everything to you later."

Aldeina opened up a distance from us while Tank returned. He used his two large scythes and swept past the Flying Ant, although the Flying Ant's wing had a huge hole, it was still able to avoid the attack, and counter attacked by biting onto Tank's hip joint, where the armor was weakest. The bite did not do much, but the Flying Ant's suddenly released a needle from the inside of its mouth into Tank's joint. Tank struggled in pain due to that, and in course of the struggle, Tank's scythe stabbed into the Flying Ant's abdomen.

Even from afar, I could hear the tearing of the abdomen that sounded like leather being ripped apart. The huge hole ripped by Tank immediately spewed out green viscous liquid all over, but Tank was also on the verge of collapse due to the needle. Aldeina immediately used Water Blessing on Tank, it was able to dispel all magic induced nerfs, although it was not extremely effective, casting it a few times should be able to remove the ailments inflicted by the needle.

Right after Tank had gotten rid of the Flying Ant, another Magic Missile struck Tank once again. It was the Faerie Dragon, after Lucky was shrugged away from it, he never got the chance to close the distance anymore. The Faerie Dragon could unleash consecutive Magic Missiles to the point that it looked like a beam, and I finally got to witness what was a Magic Genius was, the speed at which it was unleashing Magic Missiles was truly shocking! With the endless stream of Magic Missiles all over, Lucky did not have any way to get close to the Faerie Dragon, and although majority of the Magic Missiles that missed Lucky would continue on their trajectories, there were a few of the Magic Missiles that would be locked onto Lucky and would turn back like a boomerang and attack him from the back.

Seeing how Lucky was being suppressed to the point that he could not even catch a breath, Phiona controlled her black flames to attack the Faerie Dragon, but the Fire Phoenix locked Phiona down tightly, and a stream of red flames successfully blocked Phiona from moving towards the Faerie Dragon. In the blink of the eye, the Fire Phoenix devoted its energy towards Phiona, and they fought into a complete mess that I could no longer recognize who was who! Two phoenixes used their beaks and claws to attack, feathers floated all over the place, it was a pity we were not near the ground, otherwise, we would be welcomed with a majestic scene. The feathers that dropped to the ground would immediately combust into a land of flames, and would look as though the sky was raining flames.

------

Aldeina came forward and spoke to me: "So that thing on your helmet is actually a Fire Gem?"

"Yes, but I don't know what should it be called now!"

"The Fire Gem can help Phiona, do you want to try it out?"

"Yes, but how?"

"Do you know Fire type Magic?"

"Yes, but they are all low level magic spells! I haven't entered any city to purchase any spell books for a long time!"

"Repeat after me! Whether it works or not, we can only leave it to fate!" Aldeina said helplessly.

I followed Aldeina's instructions to place my hand on the Fire Gem, and started to chant the Fire Incantation.

"Grand Firelord, by the use of the Fire Gem, I humbly summon your presence! Descend, Ifrit!"

Right at the moment where my Incantation was completed, a gigantic Hexagram Spell Formation appeared. The Spell Formation flashed with a burst of orange light, followed by a sudden combustion of flames, and a gigantic humanoid shaped monster twice my height appeared. He looked like an European Knight clad in armor, except its armor was completely flame red in color, and beneath the armor, its eyes and mouth was constantly emitting flames. I could not believe it, I had never learnt such a Spell before, but I had actually successfully summoned it! But after appearing for two seconds, this Humanoid shaped Ifrit started flickering, and after a few flashes, IFrit suddenly disappeared.

Aldeina looked at me while I was still controlling the Spell Formation: "Seems like getting you to summon Ifrit before even reaching Level 500 is still too early! You better go up yourself!"

Just that two seconds of maintaining Ifrit had already consumed ¾ of my MP, it was truly an MP burner, something that I had to make sure never to use! On one side, Phiona was entangled with the Fire Phoenix and on the other, Lucky was busy avoiding the Faerie Dragon's attacks, I did not know which side to help! I could not hope to count on Tank as well! He was still recuperating with the help of Aldeina, and it looked like he still needed some time to recover!

Just as I was contemplating about which side to help, a Yin-Yang symbol appeared in front of me and flew over. Everyone saw the Yin-Yang symbol, but no one had time to react as the Yin-Yang Symbol flew in a straight line and landed on the Faerie Dragon's body.

Upon touching the Faerie Dragon, the Yin-Yang Symbol unleashed a dazzling gold light and disappeared. The Faerie Dragon was initially focused on Lucky, causing it to be taken by surprise by the sudden attack of the Yin-Yang Symbol, but the Yin-Yang Symbol did not seem to produce any harmful effect, as nothing happened to the Faerie Dragon. But we quickly realized what the Yin-Yang Symbol was for.

The Magic Vortex in the Faerie Dragon's hand suddenly exploded into countless of stars and disappeared into the air, and all of the Magic Missiles that the Faerie Dragon was producing suddenly stopped, and all of her spells failed. The Faerie Dragon was stunned by the sudden disappearance of the Magic in her hand, and tried frantically to congeal the Spell once more, but nothing happened. I saw that Lucky was at a loss because of the sudden turn of events, and immediately shouted to him: "Lucky, that's a Five Elements Seal Formation, It can't use anymore Magical Attacks, kill it quickly before it recovers!"

Lucky rushed over without hesitation, and the unprepared Faerie Dragon was instantly entangled with Lucky once again. The situation gradually tilted to Lucky's favor, and the Faerie Dragon's loss was only a matter of time. A Faerie Dragon that had lost its Magical Attacks is a useless Dragon, as even the lousiest Dragon in the Dragon Race, the Bone Dragon, could easily get rid of it!

Although Loong-er had found the time to use the Five Elements Seal Formation to seal the Faerie Dragon's Magic and saved Lucky, she had to pay the price of immense pain. The unknown monster bit down on Loong'er's tail, and like a snake devouring its prey, it started to swallow Loong'er up bit by bit. This Monster was around the same size as Loong'er, but its head was extremely large, thus its mouth was also large, and swallowing Loong'er up was not impossible. Loong'er struggled frantically, spinning and turning in an attempt to struggle free from the Monster's mouth, but the Monster's slanted teeth had her locked down!

Right when Loong'er was about to be swallowed into the Monster's stomach, a large swarm of Silver Wasps flew over in three perfect columns, every single Silver Wasp that passed by the Monster would use their 30 cm silver stings to stab into its body.

From my angle, I could clearly see the places where the Monster were stung had turned completely moss green. The Silver Wasps' poison were truly powerful!

The Monster opened its large mouth and screamed in pain. Loong'er used this rare opportunity to pull her tail out of the Monster's attack range. After plunging their silver stings into the monster, the back of the Silver Wasps lit up, the white light extended out and actually formed new stings. The Silver Wasps that had participated in the attack immediately rejoined the large swarm and that surrounded the Thunderbirds, it could even be said that the Thunderbirds were beaten black and blue. One of the Thunderbird suddenly opened its beak and shot out a dazzling white lightning ball, but the Silver Wasps seemed to be unafraid of any lightning balls hitting them.

The Silver Wasp that was struck directly by the lightning ball flashed with a bright light, and a few arc lightnings jumped from its body to the few other Silver Wasps around it, spreading through the entire swarm of Silver Wasps, but they had no reaction to it! The Silver Wasps' bodies seemed to be completely made up of pure mercury, while their exteriors had an additional unique silver, making them extremely good conductors of electricity, allowing the lightning to pass through their bodies without harming them.

One of the Thunderbird suddenly rushed at the swarm of Silver Wasps and used its beak to peck on the Silver Wasps. One of the Silver Wasp that could not dodge the peckings was instantly broken into three pieces, one piece stuck in the beak of the Thunderbird while the other two floated in the air. The Thunderbird raised its head and swallowed it. The remaining two parts of the Silver Wasps automatically transformed into two mercury droplets which combined into a larger droplet before flying back into the Fire Gem.

The Thunderbird that had eaten a part of the Silver Wasp figured that it had gained the upper hand, and immediately pounced onto the next Silver Wasp, but it only managed to fly for a second before it suddenly froze, and the entire Thunderbird dropped straight down in its exact flight posture, like a statue.

The Silver Wasps were ultimately mobs evolved from Flame Hornets, and they were fundamentally poisonous. Furthermore, mercury was by itself poisonous.

This stupid bird actually ate the Silver Wasp, isn't it the same as it swallowing a poisonous pill!

The other Thunderbirds were dumbstruck, and no longer dared to swallow the Silver Wasps. But the Thunderbirds continued to use their beaks to peck and destroy one Silver Wasp after another, but these Silver Wasps that were destroyed simply turned into mercury droplets and flew back into the Fire Gem.

Although the Thunderbirds were destroying the Silver Wasps quickly, but the group attacks of the Silver Wasps were even more terrifying, and one of the Thunderbird that was in the process of pecking a Silver Wasp to death was suddenly stabbed with over 300 stings, and instantly fell down through the clouds. Ikeda Rikio started to use superior healing spells to heal his Companions, which was a common capability that all ordinary Tamers should have.

True Tamers should learn many healing and support type spells, and do battle by relying on many Companions and Servants while staying at the back to support them. A Soul Manipulator was an advanced class of Tamers, thus their fighting style should be the same, but the Soul Manipulators have an additional powerful offensive spell, where in emergency, they could use their Companions to delay the enemy, while the Soul Manipulator could stay behind and prepare the spell to resolve the enemy.

But I'm afraid there isn't many tamers like me who don't even know any healing spell and have so many Companions together!

I could not stand idly while Ikeda Rikio was giving his Companions more HP. I took out a blade from my waist, and a Boomerang expanded out from my wrist. I unleashed two Boomerangs at the same time at two completely different trajectories, one to the left and the other to the right towards Ikeda Rikio, who foolishly completely overlooked my ranged weapons. But in any normal circumstance, he would have never thought that I would use ranged weapons at him, which Tamer would ever do such a thing! Ikeda Rikio main train of thoughts was that we would constantly use our Companions to battle and not fight head on, thus he never thought that I would throw out ranged weapons, much less two Boomerangs!

The two Boomerangs flew at high speeds towards Ikeda Rikio.

"AHHH!!" With a wail, Ikeda Rikio's Spell was stopped, both of his shoulders had the exact same holes in them, I never thought that the sneak attack would had been so effective, the two Boomerangs had cut off his arms, and one of them was even flung away with his staff in hand!

I extended both of my arms, and with a flash of light, both Boomerangs returned into my hands. Although the Boomerangs were difficult to control, but after familiarizing with it, I realized that they were extremely beneficial with many advantages, firstly, they did not fly in a straight trajectory and thus extremely difficult to defend against, furthermore, they would never be stained with blood. Every time after I cut through a monster or enemy with my sword, there would be large amounts of blood or viscous liquid, but the high speed Boomerangs would fling these things away while on the way back, the blood of the Japs are too disgusting!

With both of his arms gone, Ikeda Rikio could no longer use any supporting spells. I took the opportunity to launch an attack on the unknown monster, it was the most fearsome out of Ikeda Rikio's Companions. From its back, I rushed ahead, but right at the moment when I caught up with its head, the monster suddenly turned back, and in that one leap, i jumped into its mouth. After being bitten by the Poison Dragon once before, I had gained the experience in such a situation, and used the Dragon lance to prevent the Monster from closing its mouth. I unsheathed the Dragon King Sword*, and started to lacerate the Monster's mouth with the 8 flying swords. The Monster did not have a tongue, which saved me a lot of time as I used the Dragon King Sword to poke multiple holes in its brain, after which I took the Dragon Lance and rushed out of its mouth.

Right at that moment when I rushed out, a Thunderbird flew at me, it was the Thunderbird that had fought its way out of the trap and was also the remaining Thunderbird of the original eight. Behind it were a swarm of Silver Bees that followed closely. The Thunderbird might had planned to fly towards the Monster and suddenly turn to force the Silver Wasps to collide onto the Monster. But It was at that moment when I climbed out of the Monster, and the Thunderbird did not manage to avoid the Silver Wasps, and instead flew into my embrace, bringing me along with it. I used the dagger hidden at the side of my leg and ended its life. I controlled the Silver Wasps that had lost their last target towards the unknown monster.

There were about 500 Silver Wasps remaining, I lost less than half of them. A portion of them were separated to keep Ikeda Rikio busy, and now that Ikeda Rikio's hands were gone, he could no longer do much, thus I gathered all of the Silver Wasps back. The Remaining Silver Wasps were the survivors from the fight with the Thunderbirds. Finally, I could coordinate the Silver Wasps to help Loong'er to get rid of the monster.

I brought the Silver Wasps to rush at it again, and intentionally provoked the Monster to bite at me, in which he truly took the bait. I turned tail and ran, while the Monster had its mouth wide opened while chasing after me. 30 Silver Wasps immediately rushed into the Monster's mouth, which I had controlled to be sent to their deaths. The immense poison of the Silver Wasps should be enough, a third of one single Silver Wasp was enough to kill a Thunderbird, so 30 of them should be able to kill the monster!

As expected, the monster that had swallowed the 30 wasps continued to chase me for a moment before trembling, but it did not stop.

It seems that his resistance towards poison is much stronger than the Thunderbirds. 30 Silver Wasps were actually not enough!

A sudden burst of wind swept by my side. Tank rushed forward and used the sledgehammer on the back of its forelimb to smash the Monster once. The Monster was instantly flung out, and Loong'er rushed forward and used her body to wrap around the Monster's mouth. Tank followed behind closely, then hugged onto the Monster's tail and started nibbling at it.

He is planning to eat to evolve again, but why is he eating something that is still alive now?

I watched as Tank and Loong'er worked together to fight against the monster, when a strange sensation suddenly enveloped me from behind. I anxiously turned to look, and noticed Ikeda Rikio standing behind me. I did not know how he had managed to sneak up from behind, but he was already right on my tail.

Hope seemed to have said something about not letting him touch me, but now…..!

I watched on helplessly as he revealed a sinister smile, and a cold chill shot up my spine….

(*) Dragon King Sword was called Main Sword previously.
