Chapter 70: First Phase of Invasion Done
After Arcturus killed the Ork Nob, who was in charge of not only the entire Space Hulk but the entire battle formation of the Greenskins, the effect was almost immediate. Not even a few moments later, various battle groups of the Orkish spaceships started acting weirdly, and practically every Ork who was in charge there was doing what he wished.
Without someone who would command them, there was no one to hold the reigns, thus the chain of command collapsed and now, the Orks were either attacking in a frenzy the Imperial Forces, some of the more intelligent Greenskin commanders, or lesser Nobz in charge of the battle groups even started retreated according to the reports of the Red Queen.
However, it was clear that this sector of battle was finished because, without someone to issue commands, the Orks didn't have respect for each other to the point of even basic cooperation.
Everyone just did what they wished to do, and soon enough, everything ended in a vicious fight, where the Imperial Forces were rounding up uncoordinated Orkish forces one by one, spaceship by spaceship.
Even their ground troops that managed to land on the Starfort Lycurgos were apparently pushed back by the Imperial Army of the Eternal Phoenix Empire, and now, they were cleaning up the ones that managed to escape from the onslaught.
Such an outcome wasn't really unexpected because Orks were always like this.
Arcturus knew that they were listening to this precise Nob that he killed only because he was strong and represented the direct authority of the Warboss. Once this middleman was done, obviously, the Orks were acting as they wished and just continued smashing their forces against those of the Imperials.
'It seems that for the Mind Flayers, this went worse than they have initially anticipated...'
Arcturus thought and at the same time said to the Red Queen because he saw another one of the commanding Space Hulks self-destruct as it took with it several battlegrounds of the Orkishi spaceships, as hundreds of them were destroyed in something that was probably the most violent explosion he had ever seen till now.
<Indeed... it seems that the other teams have also succeeded at the mission, and the entire offensive of the Greenskins is collapsing down right now. According to my calculations, within twenty minutes, the Imperial Fleets should have cleared out the remaining Greenskisn.
Without the chain of command, only approximately 15% of their forces remain at their top combat efficiency, while the rest are in a state of disarray against the Empire's Fleet.>
Arcturus nodded, hearing that as he stepped forward to something that seemed to be the control panel of the Space Hulk, probably not the master one because that was destroyed, but even from this, one should be able to access the majority of the functions of the Starship.
'Now go... do your magic.'
He said to the Artificial Intelligence that sent a few of the nanomachines to the control panel and started drawing information from the thing itself. The process of extracting the information from the control panel took longer than he anticipated, which could be actually good news.
It would most probably mean that there was actually something to extract, which is very welcomed news for sure.
Technologies of High-Level Civilizations were always something that sold like hot cakes, and everyone wanted a piece of that...
<The extraction of the information is taking longer, than I predicted, there are several encrypted data banks that were left by the original owners. The High-Level Civilization that built this space wreck is called Silverstar Empire.
Apparently, they are from a galaxy far away, and some of their Starship arrived at the Andromeda Galaxy after they were sucked into a spatial crack and somehow arrived here, where they are attacked by a large group of the Star Mercenaries. As the Starships had disabled defenses from the journey, Mercs managed to board the ship, but in the end, they were killed by the crew.
In the aftermath, most of the crew perished, at least most of them, and the Starships remained floating in space, as their engineers and everyone who knew how to repair the ship systems, life support systems, and engines.>
Yeah... talk about the bad luck because this would be the pinnacle of the bad luck as he listened to the story of the Red Queen. She managed to gain access to the Starship logs and find out what had happened to the owner.
Still, the fact that they came from an unknown galaxy was intriguing by itself.
Some galaxies were very distant, sometimes that much that it would take even decades for most advanced engines created by High-Level Civilizations. Normally, a distance of several billion light years was something that only the most advanced civilizations would dare to cross.
And that wasn't talking about the horrors hiding in the dark, cold space in between the galaxies and so on.
Milky Way Galaxy and Andromeda Galaxy were rather close to each other, separated by only a small distance that the High-Level Civilizations within both galaxies could cross in mere months if they wished so.
Other galaxies that were found were a bit far, and till now, only a few were wandering here and there, mostly some of the most powerful Professionals in both galaxies or some powerful Mercantile Clans and Corporations that were using this as the perfect opportunity to make profits by selling exclusive and exotic things native to the respective galaxies.
Nevertheless, the Silverstar Empire sounded pretty advanced judging by the technology they could build and the fact that their weapons remained so destructive even after being out of commission for approximately ten millennia or whatever and under the tender care of the Greenskins for some time.
Maybe their technology was even fool-proof.
A rare trait these days.
<I finished downloading all data banks. Unfortunately, all of them are encrypted to the level where even I would need a few weeks to unlock them all. It seems that whoever made the ship was rather paranoid against the interference from the advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machines.
Not to mention, this is certainly the work of a very advanced High-Level Civilization; perhaps the master can obtain something really good from the data banks.>
Surprisingly enough, there were a lot of things, and unsurprisingly enough, most of them were encrypted to the degree where Red Queen would need to decrypt them.
'Can you overload the engines to cause the starship to overload?'
Because this terminal was just used to control some rudimentary functions of the starship, it didn't include things like the self-destruct, and not even Red Queen could do something like that without access to the main terminal, which was unfortunately destroyed.
<Yes, already on it... I am already activating the teleportation beam to the Obscurus. Eta: 30 seconds.>
Soon enough, Red Queen executed his commands as she then teleported Arcturus back to the Obscurus, and soon enough, the engines of the Space Hulk were overloaded. Immediately afterward, Obsurus jumped into hyperspace as the Space Hulk exploded into a violent explosion.
***
As one command center of the Greenskins was destroyed after another, the Orks were gradually overwhelmed by the Imperial Forces that were attacking them with newfound vigor and ferocity, tearing through the spaceships until they were completely subjugated.
The main command center of the Orkish WAAAGH! was destroyed as the last one, when the tremendously large spaceship was destroyed when it couldn't take all the damage from the spaceship of the Imperium which were concentrating their fire on the ship.
The Imperial Forces were actually in very good shape, they didn't suffer much losses during the exchange between them and Greenskin WAAAGH!.
Yet, everyone was still combat-ready because it was clear that the Mind Flayers would be attacking them at any given time. The fact that the Mind Flayers still didn't attack rested uneasy on the Admiralty of the Imperial Navy, because it could mean that they were still bidding their time.
After they had rounded the last spaceship of the Greenskins, they started getting into the battle formation in case the Mind Flayers arrived. Arcturus observed everything from the distance as the Obscurus exited the hyperspace.
He has already sent the reports to the higher-ups about the state of the mission and the fact that everything has been completed. Now, he awaited for the next part of the battle, because he was also assigned a mission during the attack of the Mind Flayers.
Which was even more dangerous than that against the Greenskins.
