Chapter 39: Honor Duel
After all of the attacking Greenskins were properly disposed off, Arcturus split off from the contingent of the Battle Droids that were controlled by the Red Queen Alice, as he headed to the center of the space hulk.
The fact that he encountered Nobz on the ship wasn't really a good sign because it could be foreboding to the presence of the Ork Boss on the ship. If that was true, then his sole option would be to use all of the Battle Droids to subjugate the green beast that the Ork Boss certainly was.
Ork Bosses were typically the biggest, most powerful and also most cunning and meanest Orks from the group of the Greenskins. They were not only enormously powerful in the physical aspect, but almost all of them were at least latent Psionicists, and many of them could use the Psionic Energy even on the conscious level.
Which made them even more dangerous in the single combat.
At the same time, he depended on the fact that during the scans of the space Hulk, Red Queen didn't detect any powerful Psychic presence on the spaceship, so the most probable variation was that this group of the Greenskins was led by a powerful Nob who was on the command of the Orks.
It was also highly possible that these Orks were under a powerful Orkish space pirate captain, so either way, he needed to deal with the situation quickly, or else, this place could be soon enough swarmed by the so-called Green Tide.
The corridors of the space hulk were in terrible shape, to the point where Arcturus was forced to proceed cautiously because he didn't wish to be injured if something fell on his head, which was highly possible.
This wasn't really a problem for the Greenskins because they could outright ignore such superficial injuries without a hitch. Only the Orks could survive and thrive in such environments; in fact, there was practically no place in the known universe where the Orks couldn't survive.
<Continue straight for the next four hundred meters, then turn to the right for another three hundred meters before you encounter huge sealed doors.>
He heard Red Queen's voice in his mind as she navigated him through the complicated corridors of the space hulk of the greenskin pirates. He didn't even know where he was right now, so without the guidance of the Red Queen, who had long ago scanned the entire space hulk, he would need to spend several hours navigating in this mess.
Fortunately enough, with precise instructions from the artificial intelligence, he swiftly found the way and arrived at the target destination, where he stood in front of huge mechanical doors.
Now, this was a bit problematic because this was an ancient space wreck, a space wreck that was used by the greenskins. On top of that, there was no automatic controller or remote control, so he needed to open the doors manually.
<The metal is an average steel alloy; you should be able to cut through the doors with the Power Sword, the disintegrative abilities should be enough to destroy the doors rather easily.>
Arcturus did as Red Queen instructed him, activating the Aetheries and stabbing through the and slowly cutting through the metal alloy, creating an opening for him to enter when the part of the metal doors fell onto the ground.
Within the room, there were several greenskins looking at something that was reminiscent of a crude monitor or whatever their tek was. Nobody knew because the Orkish Teknology was generally considered irrational and, in many cases, utterly impossible to go even to work.
'There are twenty-seven Orks, most of them are only ordinary Boyz, but in the middle of everything is one huge Nob, probably some kind of high-ranking officer under the Boss.'
He counted only twenty-seven Orks, which seemed like a small number, but it was actually a lot of them for just one of him.
The numerical disparity was too huge, though if there was one thing that he could do about the numbers, it was to challenge the Ork Nob to single combat while the Droids would surround them and cut them down when he gave the command.
Orks were not the smartest creatures around; they were controlled by their twisted sense of honor, where they put their personal honor as warriors above everything else possible because, for their entire kind, only strength was important.
If there was one thing that no single Ork could resist, it was the temptation to prove his strength to the others of his kind; for the Greenskins, it was an irresistible thought, something that, no matter how much they wanted to resist, in the end, they couldn't.
Not to mention, this had another repercussion in their society and kultur.
If the Ork didn't respond to the challenge of the honor battle, they would be viewed as cowards and weak, especially for the Orks in commanding positions. This was exceedingly dangerous, as many would then think that they were not suitable for the post.
'I am going to challenge the Nob to the duel; during that time, try to surround the room and, on my signal, kill them all, aside from the Nob, that one we need alive for the interrogation; he should be more important than the previous Nobz.'
Arcturus ordered the Red Queen because when he noticed that this one single Ork Nob remained behind and didn't participate in the combat, it was more than clear that he was some kind of lieutenant for the Ork Boss.
Ergo, he should have a lot of information.
[Special Mission Activated.]
[Mission: Defeat the Ork Nob Lieutenant in the single combat.
Reward: Depending on the performance and achievement.]
The moment he decided to implement his plan to fight against the Ork Boss, he was surprised by the notification from Star Citizen Online System with the mission of defeating the Ork Nob Lieutenant, and there was even an unknown reward from the System.
