Chapter 29 - The Golden Plate (6)
Skk-rrrrrrr!
The bus slid forward to a screeching halt.
"What's going on?"
"Did we arrive?"
The tourists looked out their windows. They were still in the middle of a forest, sitting in the middle of downhill roads.
*Pop Pop* *Rustling Sound*
"Sorry. We've encountered some troubles ahead." Jimmy's voice popped up from the bus speakers.
The crowd stood up and tried to look ahead. There were 3 large blocks of snow ahead. Can't be certain what's under the snow.
"Our escorts will proceed to remove these roadblocks by force. Even if it's boulders, these guys will be done in minutes. We'll moving again shortly. If you'd like to get some fresh air, or let go of something that you've been holding, this is the time to go for it."
About half of the tourists chose to stay behind. Others grabbed their jackets and headed out of the bus.
Jeff squinting his eyes. Throwing a questioning gaze at the tour guide, Jeff got off the bus as well.
Breathing in the frosty fresh air, Jeff stretched a little.
Some stayed near the bus. Some were heading off to roadside bushes.
Bbtttooomm!
The ground shook a little. Looking behind the bus, a part of the hill had slid down onto the road!
Looking back to the road ahead, three dudes had jumped off the roadblocks.
The two guys at the back wore furry grey cloaks. Both had a short sword sheathed by their waist.
The massive guy at the front was half-naked, showing off his sturdy upper body. Dropping his broadsword onto the snow-covered ground, this towering dude looked around with a menacing smile. "Sorry buddy. But this road is closed for the day."
The tourists looked each other in panic.
Red Fang and Spellbreaker jumped off the tour bus.
"This bus is under our protection." Red Fang took a step forward.
"My friend, are you sure you want to mess with Berrystone city." Spellbreaker took out three bristles.
"Oh. You guys are from Berrystone." The half-naked warrior raised his chin. "Which settlements?"
"Red Fang from New Pond."
"Spellbreaker of Higher Magic Securities, North Berrystone."
"Two large-size settlements I see." The half-naked warrior nodded. "Very well. You two may leave."
The crowd stirred up in fear. They quickly turned to the escorts with hopeful and pleading gazes.
The eyes of the two escorts brightened up. Their fear didn't come true. This guy actually knew about the Berrystone settlements. In this case, it's possible to talk out of this situation!
"We can't leave our customers behind." Red Fang's gaze turned cold.
"Are you looking down on us?" Spellbreaker chuckled in rage. "You think you can beat us for certain?"
The crowd's gaze on these two changed from hopeful to grateful.
By the looks of it, these escorts could expect some good reviews after this trip.
"Hmmm..." The half-naked warrior thought in hesitation.
"If we start the fight, no matter the result, you will be declaring war against 2 large-size settlements at once. You will be hunted by multiple A-ranks, or even a S-rank. Are you certain you want to do this."
The half-naked warrior slowly nodded. "You do have a good point."
The two escort subtly smiled.
Best victory for them was a battle-less victory. No chance of bleeding, still getting paid.
The half-naked dude snickered. "But if none of you make it out alive, there will be no trouble for us at all."
"Monsters... Another group of bandits... You guys had an accident, and crashed into a bus over there." The warrior pointed at a heap of snow.
"How will they know it's us." The warrior widely smiled. "Yes! I like that last one."
Leaving a trail of red light, Red Fang appeared behind that half-naked warrior.
Stab!
Blood dripped onto the ground.
Red Fang's dagger had pierced through that warrior's hand! The dagger vibrated a little, but it could not be pressed forward any further.
Three silver rays shot towards that warrior.
Without stopping, Spellbreaker held up his shield and charged.
Yet...
Pa!
Halfway in flight, those three rays hit an invisible wall and exploded.
Apparently, the psychic-type bandit and the mana-type bandit had performed a synchronized spell. The result was similar to Jeff's [Mana Shield].
A ray of yellow light shot back at Spellbreaker. It's shooting at the ground below Spellbreaker!
Why would anyone aim for Spellbreaker's shield?
Yet, like being attracted to a magnet, that ray bent midair and slammed onto Spellbreaker's shield.
Boom!
Spellbreaker was sent flying back.
Looking at the other side of the battleground...
That towering warrior's hand was pressing against the handle of Red Fang's dagger. Wearing a bloodthirsty smile, that warrior snapped his hand shut.
Without trouble, the warrior's large hand had clenched onto the dagger handle and Red Fang's hand.
Like lifting a chicken by its neck, the warrior lifted up Red Fang. Red Fang's struggling punches and kicks couldn't even leave a scratch on this warrior.
Using his other hand, that towering warrior snapped Red Fang's potion belt away.
Slam!
Red Fang was thrown onto the ground face-down. After the hit, the poor fella bounced up a little.
That warrior kicked Red Fang like a soccer ball. Rolling on the ground, Red Fang was sent back to the scared tourist group.
Spellbreaker panted and got up again.
POM!
Snow exploded into the air. That towering warrior dashed through this distance in an instance.
Moving like a blur to the crowd, that warrior appeared before Spellbreaker.
Looking down at Spellbreaker with a snicker, that warrior slammed down his broadsword.
BAM!
That broadsword collided with Spellbreaker's shield. The tremendous force instantly sent Spellbreaker kneeling onto ground on one knee.
"You have a nice shield."
'...' Spellbreaker stubbornly looked up. He was too tired and too injured to say anything.
"But a trash owner."
PUuumm...
That warrior landed a firm kick into Spellbreaker's stomach.
Another man down...
Seeing this result, Jeff sighed.
Sure. It's 2 C-ranks vs. 3 C-ranks. But Jeff expected the two escorts to have an easy win.
Training resources advantage. Potion advantage. Equipment advantage.
Come on! These guys were backed by large-sized settlements!
At least put up a fight, show that they were not easy prey, and convince the bandits to back off.
"Got you!" Jimmy suddenly shot towards that warrior from the side. He was travelling from the warrior's blind spot!
In his hand, there was a small machete knife. Catching everyone by surprise, Jimmy sliced at that warrior's throat.
Jeff raised a brow in surprise as well. E-rank. C-rank. A-rank. They were about the same. Jeff couldn't tell the difference unless he looked carefully.
'However...' Jeff sighed in his mind.
"Gah!" Jimmy's bloodlust smile suddenly turned a tormented groan. His swiping strike paused for an instance.
A gush of blood sprayed onto the snow.
