Chapter 1045: Rank Six Talisman Paper

Chapter 1045: Rank Six Talisman Paper

As a rank five Talisman Grandmaster who stood at the peak of his craft, Shang Xia might possess a pretty significant success rate when it came to crafting rank five talismans. In the past, the Tongyou Institution only had so many talisman inheritances and most of them were assistive types or escape type talismans. They had practically no offensive or defensive type talismans.

Fortunately, the Tongyou Institution managed to obtain several rank five talismans from Star Origin City and the Azure Flame World in recent years. Shang Xia had been in seclusion in the past and had no intention to focus on the art of talisman during that time. Now that he was close to becoming a second tier True Immortal, he had a lot more time to work on talismans.

More importantly, Shang Xia had to warm up before he actually attempted to craft a rank six talisman.

In the Talisman Pagoda, Shang Xia chatted casually with Ren Huan before the latter took out all the rank five talisman papers he accumulated.

There were all sorts of rank five talisman papers. Some of them were made by him, and the others were collected from different sources. Some came from trade fairs, and some were simply created without much processing of high-level treasures. Most of them were high-level spiritual beast skin or the like.

After counting them all, Shang Xia received 39 sheets of rank five talisman paper from Ren Huan.

Other than that, Ren Huan passed him a scroll that seemed to be made of the finest silk and said seriously, “There are 4 sheets of rank six talisman paper in here!”

Shang Xia was flabbergasted with his sudden revelation. He could only respond after some time, “Where did you get rank six talisman paper?!”

He carefully unfurled the scroll and inspected the paper with a deep frown stuck to his face.

It was his second time seeing rank six talisman paper. The first time was when Kou Chongxue showed him the semi-destroyed rank six talisman paper. Even in the Starry Pavilion back then, he didn’t see any for sale.

Ren Huan chuckled in response, “2 of them came from the Azure Flame World. We found it after organizing the Elysium. Patriarch Kou came to give me the other 2 the other day. I have no idea where he got them from though?”

“The other day?” Shang Xia wondered out loud. It seemed as though Kou Chongxue barely got his hands on them. And the most likely place he got them should be from Star Origin City.

Glancing at Shang Xia, Ren Huan continued, “Look at how happy you are! Did you really manage to restore the rank six talisman?”

Shang Xia didn’t intend to hide anything from him. “At the very least, there shouldn’t be a problem restoring it. However, whether or not I will succeed… I’ll have to test it out for myself before I know for sure.”

Ren Huan stared at the 4 sheets of rank six talisman paper and sighed, “I’m afraid these 4 sheets will be far from enough for you to do that…”

Carefully keeping the scroll, Shang Xia muttered, “Let’s take it slow. It’s better than not having any at all.”

Nodding slightly, Ren Huan sighed with some emotion, “It’s a shame I don’t have any idea how to craft rank six talisman papers at the moment… The Cangming Elysium didn’t have any sort of inheritance related to it. As for the Star Origin City… The large consortiums there have huge powers backing them. They would only sell completed products. There is no way they would sell their inheritances.”

Ren Huan had clearly been to Star Origin City. From how he was talking, he definitely went more than once. He had a certain level of understanding of the city.

Shang Xia mumbled in response, “That’s only natural…”

After hearing Shang Xia’s reply, Ren Huan heaved a sigh of relief.

Ren Huan’s main responsibility as a deputy hall master was to ensure everyone was provided the resources they needed to do their job.

Even though the Talisman Hall was able to obtain most of what they needed from the Spirit Luxuriant World, there were still times they needed to look for resources from Star Origin City or other worlds.

Ren Huan was one of the members of the institution who went to Star Origin City the most in order to get his hands on enough treasures.

As Shang Xia saw the hesitant look on Ren Huan’s face, he burst out laughing. “Brother Ren, is there something you can’t tell me?!”

A brilliant smile appeared on Ren Huan’s face the next second and he chuckled under his breath. “Hehe… Actually, it’s nothing too important. I just wanted to ask if you are planning to craft new rank five talismans.”

“Of course. My main goal is to craft new rank five talismans. I have a great understanding of the talisman inheritances of our institution and those talismans we had don’t have much offensive or defensive capabilities. They are mostly used as assistive talismans, to escape, or to conceal ourselves. We won’t need to use them most of the time.” Shang Xia replied.

Ren Huan couldn’t help but ask, “There have already been a lot of people looking for me to inquire if you’re accepting talisman requests… Most of them aren’t even members of the institution. They aren’t even from our You Continent! However, they’re willing to provide both talisman papers and essence crystals…”

Shang Xia raised an eyebrow and asked out loud, “Don’t we have a system in place for this already? Why are they coming to look for you?”

“You’re a True Immortal now! Your talismans are even more well-received and they don’t know if you’re still as approachable as before…” Ren Huan forced a chuckle in response.

Shang Xia’s eyes widened in realization. Those people were probably afraid that he wouldn’t want to accept talisman requests anymore because of his newfound status as a True Immortal.

“Brother Ren, feel free to tell them that I’ll be crafting talismans in the next half a year. They can send their talisman paper over if they’re ready.” Shang Xia thought for a second and added, “I’ll try not to use up all the rank five talisman paper here. I’ll leave a batch for the Talisman Hall for the Talisman Grandmasters to try their hand at crafting a rank five talisman.”

Ren Huan shook his head instantly. “From what I know, of the 4 rank four Talisman Grandmasters in the Talisman Hall, none of them have the ability to attempt to craft a rank five talisman. It would be a waste to give it to them…”

“No. Don’t forget, trying to craft a higher ranked talisman is beneficial when honing one’s skill. How many Martial Dipper Realm experts did we have in the institution back then? Exhausting their dipper qi for an attempt to craft a rank five talisman isn’t going to be easy, but we have a lot more Martial Dipper Realm experts now! They can easily get a strand of dipper qi to make an attempt. At worst, our Talisman Hall can just provide some compensation. I believe there will be Martial Dipper Realm experts willing to give up a strand or two of dipper qi…” Shang Xia completed his explanation.

After thinking for a second, Ren Huan nodded. “Alright, I’ll relay your intentions. I believe there won’t be a lack of Talisman Grandmasters itching to try their hand at crafting a rank five talisman.”

Shang Xia burst into laughter the next second, “That’s settled then. I’ll take this batch of talisman paper to craft new talismans and you can deliver the next batch of talisman paper along with their requests in 2 months.”
